Elasto Mania iOS version

Post by Smibu »

I just looked at http://www.elastomania.com/ and noticed there's an iOS version available that seems to have been published very recently.

Has anyone tried it? Are there any screenshots available? Does the physics engine feel the same?

I don't have any iDevices so I can't test it.

Huh, very strange that this is suddenly released without any sort of bigger announcement in the community. I must admit I thought this was fake but seems like there is indeed Elasto Mania on the App Store (with screenshots):
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/elasto- ... 18462?mt=8
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/elasto- ... 60096?mt=8

Unfortunately I don't have any iDevices either so can't test.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

Tested the free version right now on an iphone for 5 minutes. Still no idea how to use these devices (used nokia3310 for 10years, up until this month), but it seems that you can't control where you'll volt in this version. The game seems to choose the most optimal direction of volts by itself. Also, the amount of volts you're allowed to do is limited in the first levels, not sure if the limitation gets removed later on. Turning is unlimited. I'll play around more later of course, but for now back to PoE :P

Physics seem to be exactly the same btw. Levels are completely different and include objects that activate moving/sliding platforms, for example a bridge that raises over the gap.

Ok, no idea how to record screen properly, so here's a 2 fps vid without sound. I added some tracker music for funtymes so that everyone won't get bored: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQfinirNuZk

I often miss gas spot and press on the part of the screen that calls main menu and pauses the game. Luckily you can pause anytime in this elma without having to restart the whole lev. I've noticed a weird quirk with physics where the bike will float in one spot for a little while if you volt in midair. Or even gets pulled back a little. Ultra fakked up. Also, the game runs very smooth but seems to have lowfps-ish physics with your wheels being able to not notice small bumps much.

EDIT: Also, you can change the volts in options, so that the game doesn't try to pick a direction itself. Found it now lel.

cool but looks just like any other poor elma clone. Nice change to see some familiar physics though.

I hope he makes a lot of money with it, but it doesn't seem to be like elma with limited volts.

Oke volts are infinite later on. Also some buttons do not work unless you get a key first. And there are moving platforms a la conveyor belts and stuff. It's pretty norm, my only complaint at this point is fucked up physics if u try to volt in air too much. Hard to explain though.

I'm too nab to try bounces yet, imo they exist. I'll try soon. Alo is there! That is pretty coolik, even though awkward to use cuz have to press both left and right volts at the same time like in 2001.

That issue with volting in midair is actually extremely bad, hopefully someone with a jailbroken iProduct can post a good smooth vid with it. Otherwise i'll just record more stuf to show it off, cuz it's hilariously awfulik sometimes :<

Expectations shouldn't be so high, it's very hard to make a playable and fun motorcycle game for smartphones... And such game will never come close to keyboard-based game.

But Balazs, in next version I want: save replay, world wide toplists, less movable things and most important - level editor.

This is although the best phone game i played. (Haven't played many)

Hmm, anyone up for making an LGR based on iOS Elma? Seems kinda stylish.

Sorta hard and silly. Cannot get precise times as much because of layout of keys, but fun for exploration. I love the gate mechanic, as it is sensitive to timing of the player's run. I hate conveyor belts, as they remove some opportunities for precise runs, and make it about "catching that hook" at the right time. IMO we should put gates and keys in EOL. :O It would be amazing.

I meant that some people was wondering about control kuski on smartphone and i think they thought that iOS elma was first smartphone elma version. The control was already tested on Ropelli's version. peace

I just tried the iOS version. It is the real deal. The game is very well made and is easily the closest thing to the real Elma. The controls are probably as good as they can get for a touch device. You have the option of using left/right keys separately (double touch) or you can use the single touch control, which is interesting. In single touch it will adjust the angle of the bike optimally. I am not sure how it decides what "optimal" means, but most of the time it does a pretty good job. Now I know that this is a huge simplification to the game, but it still makes for some fun play. Each level has two versions inside it. There is the normal black run and then there is the red run which involves getting a red helmet. The times are kept separate for each difficulty level. The levels are quite interesting and holyable. I am not a huge fan of movable objects, but they do add an extra dimension to the game. It would be really nice to know what the best times are. Meanwhile we can post our best times here.

Am i missing something? There are only 4 packs yes? How such huge TT from you and Abula? Perhaps you havent completed the first level or second without hitting the helmet. That will add some 20 minutes to your time.

Perhaps he is referring to total for both the black and red packs together. That I can believe. I couldn't be bother getting the red packs. I will post my best times for the black packs soon after I finish them all.

Those look like great times, well done! Could you post your times (for each level) in the thread started by gimp in the "Replays and Times" forum.
