Very old discussions?

Post by kuchitsu »

What are some very old elma forums I can read? I really like exploring that kind of stuff, I think it's interesting to see what various internet scenes were like many years ago. I found this but pretty much nothing is archived there apparently, only one topic works for me. (btw isn't it cute to see people complaining about the MULTI WR table not updating in over a month?)

Very nice historical discussion - the significance of hibernatus's alovolt button patch really cannot be overstated.
dz in 2002 wrote:so, alovolt i cool ? generally no. alovolt has come one of the biggest subject among the players. recently, so many wrs has been broken cuz of the alovolts new possibilities. o&u, pipe, tricks a, rampf for example.

ofcuz its a nice thing for some ppl. some ppl who can actually do it. for them, who cant, its totally something else than "cool".

so to what can we come up with this ? simply, alovolt is an element which makes sircumstances of playing fair among everyone, radically down low. it restricts ppl who can not do it for taking out spesific best times, it makes them handicapped. if you think that im saying all this just cuz i cant do it, youre both right and wrong. yep, i cant do it, but so cant numerous other players to which ive been talking to.

we all know there wont propably be any updates or anything to this game ever, so most likely this subject will exists still in far future. i guess we just have to get used to it, the game is not that fair anymore.

Awesome links, thanks! Yeah, it's touching to read how concerned people were about alovolt. Also topic titles like "so who do you think is a cheater?" really make you appreciate mila's anti-cheating work. Btw what the heck is a gallup?

Also fun: http://i.imgur.com/S2CHt6O.png So the logos weren't always there?

Gallup does research on humans and society. Basically they call you and ask you questions about your life. From wikipedia "Gallup, Inc. is an American research-based, global performance-management consulting company."

There have been logos as far back as I can remember (started April 2000), but this may be referring to when Moposite took over the WR table from Csaba. I have a very slight memory that there may have been a short logo-less period at that time.

Edit: Also, when the Moposite WR table got logos they were far more restrictive on the file size of the logos (a restriction that they still have, 4096 bytes...). Compare for instance these two versions of the FM logo:

Moposite version

Found some htmls saved by me in 2003 from Moposite and elastomania.hu (RIP).
I wouldn't say it is very interesting, but for those who are interested in it:

Average probably lower because have fake old like FranK45 who is not 82 years old. Also Jeppe says 82 years old.

Also isn't Zero 1997? Would be like 6 years old at this time?

Nice... I thought that that forum data was lost for good -- Abula said that he did not keep a backup of it, which I found really regrettable. I was really fond of bmopolauta.

Lots of nice levels were posted there. Most of these must have sunk below the surface, however. Some of these (such as 000abump.lev) might have found their way in the big level archive posted almost a decade ago (it happens that my own times are hardcoded in these files -- and the ones of Luc, my brother, who often played using the nitro patch).

Luc:
- made a record back then, in some tunnel level: http://www.moposite.com/contests_kinglist.php
- his Moposite player page: http://www.moposite.com/player/Luc/identity
All bounces are equal, but some bounces are more equal than others.

i've just made head through poly; thought i'd share:
