World Cup 7 levels needed

Post by Kopaka »

World Cup 7 needs your levels! A world cup is made out of levels made by players in the community. You can submit your levels now, if it's awesome we'll use it, if it's got potential we'll work with you to make it awesome.

The level picking committee consists of Markku, roope and Kopaka. Make sure your level have been sent to one of those, to the email wc7levels@gmail.com or via the form on http://wcup.site/submitlevel

We'll update here as we get more levels and can tell you something about what types we need the most.

I've sent one level some months ago and I'll definitely make more. I think I'll be really happy if something by me gets selected.

Btw, are you guys going to make levels too? I'm sure roope and Kopaka can create something cool, and I think there was a level by Markku in wc4 as well.

We've been getting a decent amount of levels, thanks to everyone who has sent so far. But we can definitely use more. Some people have been asking about what kind of levels we need. At this point we can talk about more about that. We've gotten a lot that have been generel all around levels. So what we could use is some levels that have more of a specific playstyle, to spice things up a bit. For example apple harvest, gravity level, speed loop level, rollercoaster etc. Doesn't have to be specifically these types but you get the point.

Sorry for not giving a lot of feedback so far to those who have sent, it's been a bit difficult to summarize everyone's opinions and such, but we are working on a way to do that and will hopefully get back to you soon.

So we've managed to catch up on giving feedback now. Anyone who sent on december 26th or before should have gotten some feedback (irc or lauta pm). If you haven't, either we don't know how to contact you or we haven't received your level, so please contact me if that's the case.

We gave a tentative deadline of december 31st, but you can very much still send levels. As time passes from now it will probably get harder to get in as we will start picking some, but if you send by end of january there should still be a good shot. The absolute latest would be around mid february.

I'll give you another update soon regarding which types of levels we still need.

I think it's just what we said when people asked. For the record don't let that discourage you, there's still every chance to get picked if you make a good level.

Not sure if you are asking people in generel or the pickers. For the pickers this sort of questions is kind of difficult to answer. We'd always lean towards saying yes we would like you to make a level, but if you are asking if it's worth the bother we can never give any guarantees. If we don't have any yet of that type we're never sure if we do want one at all, and if we have a really good one already you might still make a better one that could take its place.

So yes if you think you can make a good one go for it. On the other hand personally I'd say it's more interesting with a different kind of special level than the same old kind we've used in almost all world cups.

I promised to give an update on which types we still need. We have a pretty well rounded group of good candidates, so right now it's hard to say. Any kind of special level (like roller coaster but not roller coaster) or a more generic multistyle with some really interesting parts could still make a good addition to current levels.

Just a reminder that you should attempt to send your level by the end of this month if you are working on something. Later can work if you make some really good, in that case please let us know you are working on something and what type it is, so we know what to expect.

If you are still considering what type to make, I'd say what we need right now is a generic multi route level of any length, maybe a gravity level.

It seems that I'm not going to have enough time to make any levels this year. I would have loved to make some levels, but I have too much real life at the moment :) And the editor doesn't work on my laptop, so I would have to use some other editor or my old PC.
But maybe next time...

With the start of the world cup fast approaching, if you've sent recently but haven't heard back, fret not. Right now we're focusing on making sure we have the first couple levels locked down and ready. Then we may start reaching out to some of you again, if we need some final touches etc.

I made a lev and kinda felt the same. Not saying it was a masterpiece, and not saying it deserved a spot in WC, but I do feel that WCups need a few levels that have that extra spice. Although I didn't play wcup so my opinion doesn't matter anyway.

But would be fun to play the rejected levels in a more serious way. Maybe queue them as 1h balles in a row or sach. Idk how that would work though since level testers already played them so in a sense they are old?

Anyway, I wanna see interesting levels)
