Two ideas:

1) Make (at least) a rough daily schedule divided to three sections: at 12-15 could be non-elma events (disc golf, volleyball, board games etc.), at 15-21 prime time Elma events (beer battle, battle cup etc.) and at 21 onwards low priority Elma/non-elma events (even parallel). Everybody can be present at prime time and at another times mans can decide what to do or just chill. This would make it easier to plan the schedules because the prime events are not competing with other events in the schedule. Also it's reasonable to not have more than 1-3 prime events per day.

2) Nominate a board of three wise people to make decisions. They can listen to other people's onions (if orka) but the last call is theirs - they can also vote. This makes decission making easier and more efficient. Because the onions always vary, the negotiation (of everything) can take infinite time and end up being cancelled because of lack of time or because that's the logical solution if wanted to satisfy everybody equally.

Last years' problem has also been that when people see the negotiation impossible way to get anything started, they do that on their own without considering the bigger image and then we have had some random events ongoing which make it even harder to start anything else in more organized way.

I vote for nom and Markku to the board.

I'm gonna throw in a requests for a cute favor

Around the middle of August I'm gonna be traveling through Russia, Estland, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Poland and probably other countries. Since I need a visa for Russia and Belarus, and with that someone's address I will be "staying" at, I was wondering, if any kind souls from either country is willing to help me out on this one. I don't have to come visit of course but would definitely enjoy meeting up with people.

On a different note (FEM related). I'm probably getting to Sweden already the 17th. If anybody wants to go to Finland from there together, f.e. the 20th or 21st I'd be down. :)

So how does the Thursday look? In case the cottage is not free, how many people are coming already on Thursday and how many sleeping spots are available? Do we need tents?

Regarding Abulas post: Maybe a big piece of paper with a column for every day can be put up somewhere. People could use post-its or just write on it to organize the events. If there are conflicting events you can just talk to whoever is blocking that spot.

On the other hand for me FEM is organized enough, first weekend is like elma all day and later during the week it gets more relaxed/random which I am fine with. But I understand that if you only come for the weekend you'd want to get the most out of it and not waste time slacking around :)

Looking forward :)

Do we have enough benches and long tables to fit 30 kuskis (side note: including vender and Abula) and laptops in the living room?

Have fun guys, tried to persuade jblaze to go as much as I could, but the personal issues remained too strong.

Let's get down to business for a second, though.
Kopaka wrote:I'd want Jill Stein to win, someone who is actually interested in some positive change, but I know that's not happening. I think Hillary wins, in spite of her shortcomings when it comes down to it I doubt enough people really want to vote Trump for him to have a chance. With Hillary it's probably gonna be more of the same old, which is really not what we need and probably the reason the Trump have happened. With Trump he might be locked down enough by congress/senate to not do anything too crazy, but just him talking as president would send some bad signals which would affect the world badly.

At least this anti Trump song is pretty catchy so at least we got that out of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGGACRwYDo8

Bets? If Stein wins I will buy custom scultuped elma statuette for World Cup 7 winner, if Hillary wins I'll do nothing because that's what's happening, if Trump wins I'll attend FEM2017 with an I love berh t-shirt.
I'm not any kind of tyrant, deeply regretting any bad elma past, but this one is definitely a must. At least one day wearing teh, and a couple of photos will do.

It is now confirmed that we will have the whole house in our use since Thursday because Cabin Lady wasn't able to find anyone to book the place for full week (only for the weekend) before us! And that's pretty great as the Thursday option turned out to be mega popular. However, the bad news is that the small extra sauna cabin and three beds there actually aren't in our use for the whole time (only for Thursday if the main house is not available). There was some misunderstanding by my side. Anyway this means that there are three beds less and less space for extra mattresses than I thought and as we are at the same time getting record-breaking attendance, it might get crowded. And I'm not completely sure about the sufficiency of the extra mattresses, so I think it is advisable for people coming with own cars to take some sort of mattresses with them. At least Tisk and 8ball are bringing tents at the moment which should help with the situation.

That might be nice =) But I must say I like the idea of some kind of "jury" or "board" to make some decisions. It has been a bit difficult to decide things collectively when me (or someone else) tries to get himself heard like "would it be better if we have this competition at this time or that time" and nobody says anything and so on. So people could place their events anywhere themselves but this board could change the program a bit if it looks like it would be a good idea.
Orcc wrote:Do we have enough benches and long tables to fit 30 kuskis (side note: including vender and Abula) and laptops in the living room?
I asked for more extra tables than last year now.

Oh I did remember that you already paid it, but very well, welcome ^^

What it comes to FF-Cup, the level situation is slowly getting better, but more levels is still wanted! I could get this levels from few active makers but would be great if I didn't have to take so many levels from same designers. :) Also beer battle level situation is not very good, so please send those levels to terbo as well. He can't receive too many levels as we can use the leftovers for some other battle cup.

I added a calendar tab in the sheet just to get a better overview of the planned events. You can see there which days there's too many or too few events, so you can better decide when to have one if you are planning on organizing something.

Also from the sound of it, there's no battle cups organized yet, and most contest are still missing levels. So consider sending some, especially if you are not attending. Beerbattle levs can be sent to terb0, FF levs to nom, and probably more needed for others but no one doing those yet.

I'll help terb0 with the rules that have most recently been used:
  • 15 events
  • 20 minutes playing time per level + 10 minutes for last bear sips, spying recs, taking a piss, grabbing a new bear and getting ready to !bear in #across when next lev starts
  • Last position gets 1 point, second last 2 points, winner gets one extra point
  • One bear = 4,6% alc vol 0,33l bear or equivalent
FEM05 seemed to have quite a hc beer battle with 16 kuskis drinking at least 11 bears. For some reason I can't remember why I quit at 11 bears. Probably it was lack of sisu or too much Sisu

Suggestion

Beer battle is max but we can improve it, utilize it. I've always thought that we don't use the full potential of BB - that's a timebox of our life, when max people are in max condition. That's an event which gets people social. And socializing is really the point of the meetings. After 12/15 beers we are having fun! But we are also too wasted to have any "official" events.

At least WC7 trophies need to be hand out, maybe there are other events that are social?

Let's have an hour break after six beer battles, hand out the trophies (after watching the video) and keep on battling. If we have more social events, we can add one after 3 beers or/and 9 beers. And bonus: every beer drunk during the break hour gives you 5 points (or 3 to make it a bit less attractive). This rule would also give some sort of solution, and a strategic gameplay, to the problem where some people would like to drink more and some less. So in the end we could have a 12 level battle cup (?) which means that the minimum amount of beers to play all levels is 12 beers but the MAXers can do the 15 version if want to. Or 16. Or 21. Well, that requires 3 extra beers during every break hour so not gonna happen.

Hello mans! I'm now confirmed! My weekends are full but I have vacation on the week so I'll be there from Monday to Thursday.
I'll probably arrange some sort of TT contests on Tuesday/Wednesday.
Too bad I miss the legendary FEM quiz and WC7 trophies... but waiting for Ramone's level pack at least :)
A winner of 4 GAA's (mc2 included), winner of mkup206, and a proud member of team TAP.

I like Abula's idea of beer battle breaks. Normal FEM cottage is very quiet, but during the last beer battle events it's very loud (but people are so drunk they don't notice it). That's why it does make sense to have social events at the same time with beer battle.

The event itself is already so long that I would like to see it started one hour earlier if we were to have a one hour break during it. After battle people go saunaing etc. and pass out quite quickly, so it doesn't make sense to make the battle last up to midnight. Three breaks might be too much, but one would be okay.

If Zero can tolerate 10+ bears nicely (I've heard rumours that he's been practising this part of beer battle) it will be very hard for anyone to beat him. Who will be up for the challenge?

To get that little tiny extra out of IS duet gig I recommend you to give a listen to Hallelujah. Whichever version one prefers is oke, this recommendation goes towards listening the lyrics.

Here are some alternatives:
Original Leonard Cohen song
Probably the most known version by Jeff Buckley
Pain of Salvation for a nice metal version

When I read the beginning of this post I immediately imagined the whole venue sitting down on the ground, Pain of Salvation included, and then singing probably the most emotional performance of Hallelujah I've ever heard. One of my best gig memories =)

And then I saw you posted a PoS version too <33333333

We are a few arriving in tampere friday, if anyone is coming by there in car and have room for some people let us know. :blushes:

Also, if you were in top 10 in either wcup 6 or 7 and are present at FEM but not in the list for some reason, make sure you let me know.

I don't have much new info on tomorrow's train station meeting thingy, but talked with the film crew yesterday and most likely they just want to get some generic footage when I get off the train and continue my trip with whoever are there at the station, so no one needs to be worried about talking to camera xd so if u can be there be there, otherwise see you all at the venue!
< roopemies> horror and frustrating and can't play, sounds just like you

Beer Battle rules.

-Start time on saturday at 15:00
-15 events, 30 minutes each, 1 beer finished per event
-An event: 20 minutes playing time per lev + 10 minutes break for last bear sips, spying recs, taking a piss, grabbing a new bear (and getting ready to !bear in #across when next lev starts)
-Last position gets 1 point, second last 2 points, winner gets one extra point
-One bear = ~4,6% alc. vol 0,33 l bear Can be stronger or bigger beer if you want (I don't recommend that). No wine, no booze, yes beer. Even ciders or long drinks don't apply, this is a BEER battle!
-Ways to get DQ: Don't finish your bear before next event starts(your BB is over). Don't get a time in a lev (only DQ from that event). Xiit.
-No sober division. If you don't drink, you don't play. (sober guys steal the attention from the real Beer Battle event winners)
-In case we don't have the dedicated eol-server, get the levels from terb0 before the BB starts!
-Have fun!

There will be awesome prizes for the winner (~40e worth) and consolation prizes for 2nd and 3rd. 8O

I don't like the idea of having a break in between. This would ruin the original idea of BB. There is time to socialize on friday (ppl will drink then too), other days and before/after BB.

This kind of decision (a 1 h break or no) would be good for the board. But now because we don't have such, this question will be left open and no actions done. Maybe this time that was also the wish of the majority but impsy to know.

nom supported the idea of the board and I think he is the one who could have much easier and nicer meeting if the decision making would be more efficient. I don't get why people oppose this? It can be used only in problematic situations and the members of the board would be most likely the same guys who do the decisions anyway - just give them more power and confidence to ease the process.

We could also have a notification board next to the calendar where the most important info is written. Like: next shoppe car leaves at (1 free seat), sauna ready at 20:00 etc.

This was discussed in IRC and I think everybody agreed that allowing only beer is not a way to go. We don't want to leave anyone out for this reason. But same amount of alcohol and liquid must be drunk. Prefer beer or same kind of drink like cider, long drinks etc. Booze, wine only if nothing else is possible.

Activity idea to get mood up before WC7 awards: 4 cl of beer every minute for an hour. Added to the calendar. Funnier when more people get drunk at the same time.

Greetings from FEM! Some info update:
  • The bed situation is good, four mans already are sleeping in tentsand few have own inflatable matresses. Also there is actually more beds in the house than previously. Just few of extra mattresses are used at this point, there seems to be about 10 unused ones atm. Just bring the bedsheets!
  • FF-cup 6 on Sunday is going to have some wickedly good stuff!
  • Everything is going pretty much perfectly so far!
