Making smooth texture transitions

How do you achieve smooth texture transitions when the border isn't horizontal or vertical? I usually just spamclick, but it seems like a pretty naive and slow method, and even with a lot of effort i find it not that easy to get a nice looking line. Is there a better way?

Two dif methods in sle:
1: Pipe tool > mode with apples > set as many apples as you want textures > make one straight pipe > delete pipe poly > select apples > convert to pictures
2: Use grid mode to make perfectly distanced textures (if copying must use ctrl+shift+c to snap to grid)

Then just select textures and use transform tool to place/adjust where you want them.

Triangle, like how? Can you show an example?

Thanks for the gifs dani, that's actually a lot easier to understand than text. :)

Oh, and for the triangle you use a sky texture instead of ground? Cool, that's probably the fastest way so far.

Ye i wouldnt do it in 'proper' lev probably. Personally I often try to avoid such direct texture transitions and try to come up with some alternative design instead.
