Yes of course it isn't a tie. If someone makes the time 1 minute after the battle has started, and the other person spends 30 minutes getting the same time, they should not be tied.

it's not tie, it was Karlis who had wu wr 14.05, not infected, otork or jeppe who got it twice

It's a tie. If a footballmatch ends with 1-1 it's a tie, even if one team had 100 more goalchances than the other.

fixed teh one-life replay saving bug - it didnt rewrite the file if you restarted level before countdown ended.
there is one more problem with rec saving where rec can get lost - if you get decent time, rec is saved, then you reconnect and it has forgotten if you played teh before and starts to rewrite old best time with even worse ones.. i'll try to fix teh now
edit : fixed teh but it wont work if you restart elma - old rec will be lost when you drive new one
edit : all these changes in next version of course

elma is not a football match. if you got same time as some wr you wouldn't be 'tied' and get on table

Come on it's the same rules than it's always been, the one who gets the time first is the leader. Or do you think Zweq should share the Warm Up WR on the World Records table if Karlis drove 14,00 too? It's always been like that! Why should we change the rules? ;)

Because ties can only happen within a match/battle/competition. A WR list isn't a competition, it's "just" a list of the best results ever.

had a discussion with jappe in belma chat. he suggested that old battles should be allowed, but they just shouldn't count to stats. i think that's a kinda good idea, cause when it's after midnight and only 4 or 5 fucks are around, i don't really care if the level is brand new or 20 years old and carved on tress by Xhomaz...

the point is nat about looking good, but saving lines. besides, that would mean all who got 4 apples would be 3rd, which they are NAT. that's why my suggestion was 3-9. and nat just 3. i agree with dz and all the others who cane think teh right way and obey the mighty rules that balazs once set in his great wisdom \o/

things i wanted to change for next version that are not done (except things already done)

1. possibility to stop/abort balle, if stopped, results will count
2. setupable udp port different for everybody if wanted
3. check that timer - countdown time and adjustments - DONE
4. write position in balle (leader zweq 10:20, pos 2/10)
5. maybe add hide others times to balle setup
6. others hidden as default, others times shown as default - DONE

changes for some version one day
1. ftp to nonblocking http
2. private chat ingame - no idea how to do it user friendly so you dont have to type /msg zweq every time
3. normal multiplaying

i dont remember anything else with what i agreed

list of possible changes (in order how they might be done)

1. remove possibility to start qwquu levs
2. 'hide times' checkbox for startballe
3. position in balle in status text
4. ftp to nonblocking http
5. private chat ingame - no idea how to do it user friendly so you dont have to type /msg zweq every time
6. normal multiplaying (also for more than 2 players)

Belma crashed for some people, for some people it didn't. It didn't give any internal error, just crashed. Also no error message was produced in elma directory.

My guess would be the number of pictures in the level. The limit in normal editor is at 5k, maybe he made more than 5k pictures using ALE, which resulted in a crash. I have no idea whether there is over 5k texture pictures in the level, but I couldn't find anything else that has a potential to crash the whole game.

Btw, some 1.4x.xx ff :O

I tried with low detail and it indeed did not crash! After that I changed to high detail and it did crash, so it must be with graphics.

I also tried the level with Elma 1.2 Final and it crashed so it's not belma's fault after all.

Let that be a lesson to all you ALE users. Don't mess with the elma rules just cause you can, because in the end, it will only come back and bite you, and fuck everything up. :D

Sounds like I'm talking to hackers here..

I tried it now with 1.11hb, high details, and it did NOT crash. So I guess the problem might lie with 1.2.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?

From elma12.txt:

Code: Select all

3.1. Internal errors when loading levs
  --------------------------------------

When a grass polygon is too far from a normal polygon, you can get
an internal error. Elma 1.11a had the same problem, but since you can zoom
in Elma 1.2, you can have that problem on levels which worked before. Just
use low video details or use a lower zoom.

  3.2. Crashes when loading levs
  ------------------------------

When a mask is "out" of a level (far in the ground around the level),
Elasto Mania can crash when you try to load that level. It's a bug of the
official Elma 1.11a, but since you can zoom in Elma 1.2, you can have that
problem on levels which worked before. To avoid that bug and keep a high
zoom level, use low video detail. A patched version of the Serpents Tale
is provided with elma 1.2, otherwise it would crash with zoom x3. If there
doesn't seem to be anything wrong with a level someone has made, but still
it crashes, this bug might be what's causing it.
Maybe same kind of bug.

i know where exactly that bug in the code is (its the same bug that causes elma crash), its only a few lines in asm but still i didnt manage to solve teh so that it will work correctly for normal images and wont freeze (infinite loop) for those cases
