Elma (not belma) new version by Carl [MUST READ]

Code: Select all

Carl dit (15:03) :
hi i have picked a random player from the so called "elmascene"
i need some feedback on my plans for elma
 my greater plan
just to be clear, i am no play im a prgramerer
 player*
well i have picked elma as my new little project as i call it, i take ancient games and make something of it

Mawane dit (15:06) :
soon there will be a big documentary about the game and scene cuz of its 10th birthday

Carl dit (15:06) :
i mean like making upgrades of the games that is really making major changes
 well
i have already started edit this game

Mawane dit (15:07) :
best change you could do would be to upgrade to the 24-32bit colors cuz there are several probelms with it

Carl dit (15:07) :
and second thing to be clear of
i have been doing this for around 12 years
do you want to know the changes?

Mawane dit (15:10) :
i think you should work with that milagros

Carl dit (15:10) :
well i will change the menus, change it totaly, windows, uhm mouse compilated, some of the windows have stats directly uploaded from internet bases, status about levels creatours

Mawane dit (15:10) :
 ye, good, awesome

Carl dit (15:10) :
so it will have this kind of theme but it will dont look anything as it is now, but i will ofc have it very neat
i will add a neat in game lgr designer, i mean where you can edit kuskis, with an including set of tools you can edit your kuski
also change the basic graphics of the kuski, so it dont have this little frame of space as it is now but extend it, i mean you can make a well formed icebear if you wanted, i will add some standards as a male or female kuski

Carl dit (15:14) :
as you said this will be 32 bit colured

Mawane dit (15:14) :
 great

Carl dit (15:15) :
well thats about that little part, uhm i will insert the compability in my in-game level design program the ability to move polygons
with triggers, timmers, and well you name it

Mawane dit (15:16) :
there's also a program for that, but would be great ingame
 http://zworqy.com/elmaguide/index.php?p=ale
 take a look at that

Carl dit (15:16) :
but its not in game movable polygons, if you understand

Mawane dit (15:17) :
oh, that would be bad, sorry

Carl dit (15:17) :
i dont think so, because you will have this as an option

Mawane dit (15:18) :
hum... i seriously think the elma scene will disagree

Carl dit (15:18) :
and when you start a new game it will reset
you will not get random times if you think that
if you are at a point where you see a moveable polygon at excact 32 seconds, it will be in this position in another run
it will just increase the variability

Mawane dit (15:21) :
if you want the scene to like you, don't do that or they won't get into your version
 moveable polygons
and no, i dont say that just for me

Carl dit (15:22) :
im not that sure, i mean it is the players that must make levels with this

Mawane dit (15:23) :
 :s

Carl dit (15:23) :
if players dont want this, its no worse than just dont have it in the level
 agree?

Mawane dit (15:23) :
well... not really, it would change the idea of the game

Carl dit (15:24) :
getting from A to B collecting the nessesary items, am i right?
 in best time ofc

Mawane dit (15:25) :
 what do you mean?

Carl dit (15:25) :
as i have read its all about the time am i right, thats the idea
Mawane dit (15:25) :
A is start and B flower?

Carl dit (15:25) :
 yeah

Mawane dit (15:26) :
ok, then yes, any routes as soon as u get best time

Carl dit (15:27) :
yes thats the idea, well as i ask, will moveable polygons change the real idea then, because i understand very well that getting from A to be in shortest time is the goal

Mawane dit (15:28) :
where are you from by the way? have contacted the creator of game to edit it?

Carl dit (15:28) :
 yes i have
 was hard to reach

Mawane dit (15:28) :
 :o

Carl dit (15:28) :
i had to fly to him to make a deal

Carl dit (15:29) :
 but h

Mawane dit (15:29) :
 wow

Carl dit (15:29) :
 thats fear enough
something like that dont work over internet you know
¨but did you read what i just wrote about moving polygons, do you disagree at the last message

Mawane dit (15:30) :
 yes

Carl dit (15:30) :
 then why

Mawane dit (15:32) :
because the game is immobile, and changing that will affect all of us about the skills wo master it
 to*

Carl dit (15:32) :
it will be new skills to master for everyone
isnt that great, something everyone is new to

Mawane dit (15:33) :
hum, old levs must be supported

Carl dit (15:33) :
it will open a whole lot of new style finding types
 ofc not

Carl dit (15:34) :
old levels should be as they are

Mawane dit (15:34) :
yes, thats what i said o,o

Carl dit (15:34) :
well, you could just paste them in the new editor and then do whatver you would right?
 so..

Carl dit (15:35) :
i see no arguments why this would ruin the current scene

Mawane dit (15:35) :
well, i'll talk about that to the scene later

Carl dit (15:36) :
do that, you might aswell copy this conversation aswell to show them whats going to happen
well what i have told is just some

Mawane dit (15:36) :
 yeah

Carl dit (15:36) :
 its way more

Mawane dit (15:37) :
but may i have a proof that you really concluded a deal with Balazs?

Carl dit (15:38) :
such info is confidencial at the moment, but i will as soon as possible

Mawane dit (15:39) :
tell me a little more about that
"well i have picked elma as my new little project as i call it, i take ancient games and make something of it"

Carl dit (15:40) :
i do this for a hobby and sometimes i get paid aswell, i just take old games and messing with them to make something very different and cool with them

Mawane dit (15:41) :
nice, any other game you could show me that you've done?

Carl dit (15:42) :
yeah i did convert liero to something online stuff
 you know liero?

Mawane dit (15:42) :
nope, show me old and new version

Sounds interesting, but I think it will fail because EOL is coming and I guess there's no possibility to merge these projects.

edit: Yeah, if it even is for real.

Well let's say this is real and he will do some new version (Let's call it ElmaDeluxe .. just to call it something).

We, in the Elma scene, will 100% go and play EOL but think about all the noobs out there. They see this ElmaDeluxe and go "OMFG AWESOME GAME! YOU CAN EDIT BIKE, DO MOVING OBJECTS, PLAY ELMA SHOOTER MINIGAME" etc.. people that are tired of Elma probably won't come and play it again just 'cause of EOL.. they will try Elma again coz of this Deluxe shit.

Me thinks it's fake. That guy knows such a words like kuski or style which are not known outside scene. Assuming it's not fake.. why is he asking about opinions when he don't really consider them (look at movable polygons)? Anyway everyone should tell him that this is very bad idea.

I wouldent support MOVING polygons, but triggers like doors when you take an apple could be cool imo, like you have to take that apple to open the door to the next apple or sach:P Moving stuff would be too random imo

i suppose knowing our epic styles in elma scene, we'd probably fly over moving shit anyways.

moving polys was suggested for elma2, but was completely shot down by scene :D

Hard to fly over a door on the right side of a tunnel after you had to move towards left to take the apple:P

EXAMPLE: (though a bad one since he had to take apple to take flower anyway)

Well, somehow that complete ignorance about what Mawane says... like Maw doesn't seem to be that enthusiastic to know what new features he has done, and still he just starts babbling on. He really seems to be very very proud of what he has already done, even though no one else likes the idea. That attitude somehow gives me an impression that he really has made something. But it's still quite retard xD Anyways I don't care that much if it is for real or not, I guess would be nice to try designing with moving polys and triggers, but EOL ftw!

this carl guy sounds a bit made up if you ask me. They flying over to Balz house was way too over the top. We live in the 21st century, just send the guy an email.

Would be fun to try moving polygons, but not to play seriously, just for the lulz. Also i like the idea of editing your Kuski and of course the 24/32 bit fix would be awesome, i really like those new features, nice idea Mawa it's a shame its fake :P
