awsome achievement idea uploadinger

Post by Lee »

Achievements will come. When, I can not say. But looky here:
http://achievements.elmahq.com

Submit your ideas.
The more we get, the more pressure and motivation there will be for those working on getting achievements up and running. So submit, submit, submit!

--------------------

Okay. So the achievement design was appointed to me. But after a while of coming up with some ideas the achievement idea itself kind of died down.
Besides, I might be able to design 100+ achievement pics myself (given time that I don't have), but the titles and descriptions are out of my hands (I'm not familiar with all this nooby mongo acrossish lingo, you see?).

So here is this.
Idea-ers of adequate quality shall be credited on EOL website (I haven't mentioned this to anyone, but it seems reasonable enough).
And try to use your own style.

Go.

Looks great! However I don't think there's a need for both a "Description", and a "What to do". They could easily be merged.

description won't always say what to do.

eg.
Description: You are a star!
What to do: Earn 20 achievements.

you see my point

edit: and btw, 'What to do:' is merely used to communicate ideas. the description is the one that will stick.

The reason, or one of the reasons anyway, that it hasn't been done on the site yet is that it requires making some new tables in db that summarizes some information ect. so it's a big job. However I am in the middle of doing this for battle related achievements, thought taking a break atm. due to exams. So my point is that people should focus on coming up with ideas for battle achievements for now, as it's easier to add when I'm still in the middle of doing it and it could be realised soonish.

Description can be just a name so it would look like that:
You are a star!
Earn 20 achievements.
And the picture somewhere on the left side. You can sort achievements by some categories, like battles, internals, general etc.

Finished ranking related (most win in week etc.) achievements yesterday (just have some problem with the generating script), so wanted to see if there were some pics on that site I could use for them. I have a bunch of pics you sent once for other achievements, half or so are ez so I'll get those up aswell now.

I believe I have made many achievement pics of varying sizes. Originally I designed them at 20 x 21 px, and later at 50 x 50 px.
I'm not sure which or how many you currently have; it is best to have them all the same size.
If you need more pics made or existing ones redesigned I will be happy to make a serious attempt (unlike before).

EDIT: Ok, I've just had a look at the achievements section. With the current layout it would be best using the small pictures.
EDIT 2: Hey the pictures are actually showing now. Not sure why they weren't one minute ago. This whole post is pointless then :D
EDIT 3: Actually, I did refine the achievements later down the line. Looking at the ones currently in place, you seem to be using the old versions.

Yeah was finishing up the code just now :)

Anyway these http://kopasite.net/up/0/achievement_info.png are the ones I have. The ones I haven't added now are because they require some more advanced coding/data generating, but they will come eventually. So would be nice with something for the ranking related ones that shows now on the site with no picture, and maybe to have different ones for wins and win rows.

This is where I left it:
http://kopasite.net/up/0yu027mez8sza97/achievement.png

If you want I can design ~10 variations of the cup (ranging from bronze to something god-like).
Because as it is, four variations doesn't quite cut it, jumping from 200 to 2000 like that.

Same goes with the medals.

Yes 10 levels for each might indeed be good, afterall those are something you keep improving on forever.

Ez implement "win ratio" achievement to player's page! It is a great index of player's quality.
Something like:

5%+ win ratio
and
10%, 15%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%... with all the regular goblets (similar to "win balle row" and "balle wins").

btw it is great how it works now, ty Image

I don't think this can be achievement. Achievement is something you do once and it stays forever, overall win ratio changes. This should fell into different category.
