Some help with steppes...

Post by zyntifox »

(turn on first bump style)

Anyone that can explain to me what I should do different from what I do on this rec:

http://up.k10x.net/sicljgpjkrxsl/10arg.rec

Also, anyone knows how to do the steppes when actually driving all the way around really fast? I got 31,9x, but think it can be driven at least 1-2 secs faster than this:

http://up.k10x.net/hjptuxeajrhau/10around.rec

Jump like that and get speed over that bump if u need ez style. That pole part would be better than my rec. :)

krychek did 29.98 in guyb's oldschool contest, so it's possible faster indeed. Some better style at the very left would be my guess...?

the key to brutal style is you don't want to get too close to the pole. If you do so you'll just end up going straight up and never over. hard to explain :P but maybe a little help.
and here are two nab recs by me... might also help

http://up.k10x.net/gayqpsujdegig/10BrutalXi07.rec
http://up.k10x.net/utcpmqyczsvdu/10Xiph1398.rec

make that three :P played for a few mins and got this
http://up.k10x.net/exyzuxwpopifr/10Xi1274.rec

Maybe John could explain :P he was telling me how easy the style is ^^

duno what's the style but if you're trying the brutal, xiphias kinda told it. + keep in mind that teh more you get -> velocity after brutal, the easier it will obviously be to get grip

To get better at steppes, first you select all my DNA, then ctrl+c then select all of your DNA and ctrl+v for override. Then you'll be driving wr's in no time on steppes!

Well.. I think i got all the info i need now. I like the steppes because its such an awesome cruise lvl either if you try the brutal style or wanna go around. Really a time killer :). Thanks for all the info, gave me some motivation to keep trying both styles.

d00d, I already said I'd put a million bucks on it, just search the replay sharing tropic and you'll see that my inexplicable photographic memory is 100% correct.

It was cloud's rec.

I don't exactly understand what are you saying, wiElOryB.

Well, that 29,66 is a rec of mine. By the way, that's the style I always use to name my recs. With an X instead of a C if anyone wonders.

Had to spend 20 mins with the lev again. Got 29,45 now. It's still far from good and I bet if someone hoyled for it, roughly 29,00 could be achieved.

You know Xiphias.. On that last replay (10x1274) you could probably easily get 11,low if you had let go of your brakes while on the pole abit earlier, instead of holding it the whole way. Thats my thoughts at least, as I think that would keep your verocity forward up enough to bring you over the pole more directly.

And to cloud: Nice hearing from you again, and really nice replay around the whole lev. Gonna try and get 29,low myself with that style :) thanks

Hoyled 30 sec style some years ago (with some minor changes due to 26.66 Cloud's rec). 28.xx should not be hard.

its a few things he need to correct in his driving (at least from what i saw in his 12.xx rec) before he have a chance at getting around your time i think :)

should have listened to my own advice on this one btw:

heres my replay if that could be any help:

http://up.k10x.net/xrusxtrfilime/10zynt.rec

Important things are to AT LEAST having 100hz refresh rate on your screen (vsync off ofc). Don't even bother trying at below 100 is my advice. Ive found 120 or 140hz to actually be the best. Have tried 150 and 160 as well, and the grip just seems too good to actually get a good brutal(might be wrong on this one). Also you should try and get the brutal done as early as possible to get as much "->" verocity towards the pole as you can.

The hard part is actually getting over the pole really good. It's quite easy getting over it ok with abit of practice(my top ten is from 11:27 - 11:68). Zweq does it exceptionally well in the EDQ video. The key is getting a good and early brutal, as well as letting go of your brakes abit early when actually getting over the pole to keep some of that -> verocity instead of just getting straight up and lose at least a sec or two.

To DaFred: i think you need to get a better brutal volt in, and let go of your brakes on the pole earlier than what you did. Takes some practice, but youre almost there i can tell :)
