Elma Cheat WR Table

Post by sierra »

At last! The Elma Cheat WR Table is up.

The idea is simple: cheating is allowed (the rules are explained in more detail on the page). So far DarMoeD has all 54 records, but I'm hoping soon more guys (mila, Nost, etc) will challenge him and pwn.

Why did I do this? Two reasons. Firstly, I've always been interested in finding out the best possible times on internal levels; cheating is a way to get closer to this. Secondly, I'm hoping that now anybody who wants to cheat will have a legal, public way of doing so, rather than mangoing up the real WR table. So in fact I believe this will reduce the chances of cheating in the real game.

Anyway, hope it'll be fun and informative. First challenge - get the (cheated) WR tt under 37!!!

But wont this give cheating some good publicity? It might make people want to make more and better ways of cheating...

Sounds good, but might be bad...

RULES:
1. You must have used some cheat program when driving, such as save&load or autoplay. However, anything which speeds up the bike itself, such as Nitro patch, is not allowed. The replay has to look realisic, i.e. that somebody could theoretically do it legitimately.
2. Anything which changes the timer speed or accuracy, is also disallowed. I won't accept any time more than 0,04 faster than the replay.
3. No bug bounces are allowed.
4. No replay, no record ;D!

Autoplay and save/load legal but bugbounces isnt :D

No point having uncheated WRs, then it would begin to look just like old WR table before DMD got caught. The point is that xiiters see some of Darm's lesser hoyled times (eg. Animal Farm) and see a chance to really kill it.

And no Darm didn't send recs but, I needed some times to start the table off, and of course all his old WRs were validated by PeXi so there's no reason to believe he's lying about times.

I think Nostrada doesn't qualify under those RULES: you have set up.... So all in all,I guess there is darmoed, milagros and hibernatus capable of making records + everyone with the worst cheating program out there AUTOPLAY, so you shouldn't wait for much records.... bug bounces disallowed..............................................................................................................................................................................................

haah Totti partly, but no also i honestly do love the idea of cheated world records. let's face it, no matter how honest a player you are, you are a little bit curious about cheating. not saying that people want to cheat for real, but everybody must have at some point thought "damn if only i could have saved after this point"... now we can do it and not get hated for it. but having said that i don't have any programs and probably won't be able to get anyway :S

I highly doubt there will ever be anyone sending times to that list. You'll realize it after a few months and hopefully take it offline and forget about the whole idea.

i think it's a nice idea. i also find it interesting to see the best possible time to make, even that a human cant make. it would also be interesting to see how far it is from what is humanly possible, which you can't really do at wr table because there are probably cheated world records there already.

unfortunately i can't see the table, can't connect to that server from here.

then maybe you have to rewrite the rules because nostra's patch changes the speed when you play but the rec is correct speed.

i would like save and load patch and send to that table, and if i get a save and load patch i will send if i can beat any WR.

then of course this is a way to suggest ppl to use save and load, and possibly spread such programs. i always thought it is a good idea, as another way of competing in elma. and save and load patches could always make the recs marked as save and load recs, just like nitro recs dont work in normal elma.

ye ribot i've been saying that for a long time. have a legal saveload, where it says "Saveloaded" or something in the corner whenever you watch the rec.

and then that text that says saveloaded is "programmed away" which leaves us with a cheated rec.......

well it seems like long time to me

John, you have a point, except that all WR replays are (i assume) tested for cheat before they are accepted, so this "commercial" or "legal" saveloader would never be able to cause world record cheating. it would take an expert programmer to change it so much that it would be undetectable, and these expert programmers already exist. so it wouldn't *contribute* to cheating.

This could be quite fun...

1. As replays for real WR are tested, there's no risk that people will succeed cheating WR.

2. This could be nice too see which styles could be invented by cheaters and maybe makable by real playaz ( Zweq, T0r, John, Jalli, Mila, Cloud, etx... )

3. It's a nice entertainment !

And, one wouldn't suppose that, after having tried this cheating tool and seeing how much better times they could get, people wouldn't be tempted to use it other than for this contest? Spreading a prog like you're talking about would be extremely naïve.

I can not see how this could contribute to the elma scene in a positive way. I can not see how anyone else can think this is positive.

Do you mean to say, SveinR, that you weren't excited when watching 52DarM.rec ??

Or that you wouldn't be interested if a cheater drove 1:25 in Apple Harvest??

I am pretty much sad in regard to the DarMoeD case.
sierra wrote:Or that you wouldn't be interested if a cheater drove 1:25 in Apple Harvest??
No. What people can do using tools to help them is of no interest to me. It's what they can do in the actual game as it is that is interesting.

Well you must be a special case, I'm sure if I posted a link to a 1:25 Apple Harvest rec over 95% of dudes would click it.

Sure, I might have watched it, but with no joy in doing so knowing that it was a cheated rec. It would be far more interesting for me to see psy's current WR than some cheated time that's not really possible because of the restraint that human errors put on us. What's really possible under the confines of the game is what's interesting. What is possible when removing those confines aren't. I don't like cheating and think we should do everything we can to prevent it. A program like you're talking about only helps nurture cheating.

Yea, the program probably would help cheaters. It probably would be bad for the scene. But that doesn't stop me from wanting it :(
