Old Skool Level Pack Project!

Post by niN »

Okiz, so I know I've already said this in the level seeking topic but I really need more levs.

I need levels for my pack! I want old school levels, nothing else ;). If you don't know what I'm looking for, look at moposite's levels. The MOPCU pack is a perfect example!

Please send all contributions to frmi90@creapple.se you don't have to include anything but the level. Name it whatever you want, I'll rename it later. Also your level/ s will be used for my elma site (which btw will be translated into english).

Thanks in advance!

and btw, the pack should contain around 40-60 levs.

Well, you know the MOPCU lev pack? Like them, you don't have to have any grass/ pics but if you do have some use them to make that kind of levs.

nin oldschool levs are like mopoco, not mopocu. and grass presence in the lev is not determening either lev is oldschool or it's not yuo know. the thing that you cant even explain to leeland what is oldschool lev is the fact that made me wonder about your oldschool conception. no offence, but

loalz, Are you saying that oldskool are like "Jump as far as you can" "Finish the leve as slow as possible"? Didn't know that..
Then now I want like MOPCO levs instead of MOPCU
same as above, send contributions to frmi90@creapple.se

EDIT: Or else, I'll just make them, I'll use tijsjoris levs though :)

Is it really neccesary to discuss the pure form of 'oldskool'?
I mean, it's bound to dissolve into endless and unvertile argumentation, you can't discuss such, because people don't tend to fit one style during one period.
Just look at music. We have some slight ideas of how music sounded like during specific era's, but such an idea only puts a certain frame around a quantity of tracks, that themselves can differ quite much from eachother. It would be an overly purist approach to this project if we were to make levels only in the strict vein of a certain levelpack of 'back in the good oldskool years'. You better approach this project with what you think fits with characteristics of oldskool.
In my view, those are harsh, unpolished vertices, lesser pictures, more use of killers in a decorating way, generally speaking levels without a clear idea of how it should precisely be driven.

Also I think it's rather stupid of you, Kestas, to right away retreat from this neat project. Still, it's your own choice, but niN can be sure of my 2 levels I made yet. Perhaps I will make more, who knows.

you see i didnt understand correctly what was nin talking of when saying of oldschool and asking for such levs. i've sended him in my 2 levs and then when i saw that he was actually looking for levels without grass which should look somewhat exactly like mopocu, i hesitated. of course he can use it in his project if those were the levels he needed for. and yes word for oldschool is a very arguable but i'm still staying with my positions that such levels are exactly the ones as in mopoco. it's gotta be something weird like random apple harvest with impossible finish, wall climbings, max distance jumpings etc. if nin wants his project to be as this then my levels were exactly for him.

here's another one from kozzus (he battled it just now):
http://mxb.dk/upload/scv006.lev

edit: for your project of course (if these are the levels you wanted)
