Yeah wasn't it the same thing at last time too? :(

But I guess you work only on weekends? This is why I wanted to put FFC2 to another day - for those you can't regularly play on Sundays. I guess FFC3 ez on a weekday.

Would you like to make the level anyway, I have some lack of levels, so far I have got a level from zebra and another from igge and talli.

And tj wanna make a level too? I like your levels :)

EDIT: Oops. I just noticed Mawane had sent a level xd

I can't play :(. I'm going on a winter course...

If you're thinking of making this seriously I think you should do every third FF cup on a weekday. Since most people will play on weekends, but others might not be able, as you said, and they will have a chance to play too.

Actually that would even be answer to my prayers - so far I've got only 3 levels not made by me and I think I'll get surely one more only from FinMan and Bjorn (I got a level from Mawane too but it was really really long and pretty hard for that long level and since I already have long and hard levels we decided that Mawane battles it outside the cup)

Anyway big thanks if you can make the level!

I think that something between 3,5 and 5,5 minutes would be nice, depending hardness of the level.

Mawane wrote:over 10min to finish is nice
Yeah sure but I already have one 9-10 min level from igge and talli and some other rather long levels too. The lenght of the cup would have got really long. You are welcome to make such long level to FFC3 but then others should make only shorter levels.

Luckily it's not today - there's still things undone. For example I've been trying to code an automatic result calculator but I have problems. I'm pretty newbie at programming. Is here someone who knows a lot about java and could help? =)

Yeah - now there is only 3 hours left!

After loads of blood, sweat and tears I have now a program that calculates the standings for the cup. I tried to make it so that all I have to do is copypaste but didn't manage. Now I have to manually put all the results there but the program makes all the calculations and that's enough. During the cup I'll paste all the results to own FFC channel - #FFC2 @ ircnet. So come there if you want to see the standings!

FFC2 over

Post by nick-o-matic »

Ookay we succesfully had new FF-cup today but not new winnare - Ali still is the FF-king. He was pretty lost at first events (including one his own event he wasn't able to play) but then he started to win since FFC205 - a huge skillish labyrinth. Here are the complete results (may be some erros):

1. Ali: [(14), 1, 1, 9, 1, 1] 128 points
2. Bjorn: [8, 2, (14), 1, 2, 1, (13), (10)] 122 points
3. Lukazz: [7, 3, (15), 2, 1, (13), 4] 111 points
4. Boneless: [(7), 4, 3, 4, 3, (9), 3] 109 points
5. Staar: [5, (13), 1, (12), (12), 2, (12), 7, 3, (9)] 108 points
6. GRob: [4, 4, 2, 3, (15), (8), 5] 106 points
7. Zox: [2, 2, 2, 2] 104 points
8. adi: [3, 6, 4, 11, (11), (12), 6] 76 points
9. ville_j: [6, 10, 8, (14), 8, (10), (10), 2] 66 points
10. ShadowWarrior: [6, 7, 4, 11, 7] 63 points
11. barryp: [(11), 8, 5, 8, 9, 6] 59 points
12. Xarthok: [2, 5, 9] 51 points
13. Chip: [15, 3, 4, 12, 15] 49 points
14. Matti Putin: [1, 5] 47 points
15. tubby: [14, 5, 5, 8] 46 points
16. VT: [1, 12, 11, 10] 45 points
17. Orcc: [5, 4, 14] 39 points
18. fabio: [13, 6, 9, 7] 37 points
19. DiskMan: [7, 3] 35 points
20. Rooker: [9, 11, (15), 13, 14, 5] 35 points
21. roope: [10, 12, 10, 6, 13] 33 points
22. Smibu: [7, 5] 29 points
23. Kopaka: [11, 13, 4] 28 points
24. Quantz: [7, 6] 26 points
25. Morgan: [9, 14, 9, 11] 23 points
26. nick-o-matic: [3] 23 points
27. Ramone: [5] 17 points
28. Rasken: [6] 14 points
29. bidruls: [6] 14 points
30. igge: [7] 12 points
31. Alma: [12, 11, 14] 11 points
32. pskrip: [15, 8] 11 points
33. -Nico-o: [10, 12] 10 points
34. Rustam [EPC]: [8] 10 points
35. ditzy-witzy: [8] 10 points
36. Ulaanaa: [9] 8 points
37. G-UNIT: [10] 6 points
38. SCASI: [10] 6 points
39. Nekit [EPC]: [13] 3 points
40. Pawq: [14] 2 points
41. Koopa: [15] 1 point
42. jesse: [15] 1 point

Bjorn screwed up previous cup but now it didn't go badly at all - he got nice 2nd place with some victories.

Lukazz, Boneless, Staar, GRob and Zox had pretty tight battle it seems =D
From those you must notice that Zox played only last 4 levels.
Complete opposite was Staar who managed to take points all (!) levels, you are the only one to do that in the history of FF-cups, grats Staar =D

Adi's cup got completely screwed up but now he will be hungry for FFC3. The same thing stands for example Xarthok too.

Also many from the rest did nice performance in some levels.

And thank for the levelmakers FinMan, zebra, Ali, Bjorn, ville_j, Quantz, igge and talli.

Levels and winners:
01: VT
02: Matti Putin (who is he? :S)
03: Staar
04: Bjorn
05: Ali
Halfway break battle: Xarthok
06: Lukazz
07: Ali (I was 3rd)
08: Bjorn
09: Ali
10: Ali

About my own levels:

FFC201: JJ Lehto: I tried to make this as unfatal and clear and cruisable as possible. I guess it became pretty good and it got positive comments. There were pretty nice battle in this. VT won this pretty comfortably, at end Xarthok got close though.

FFC206: Putreee: I tried to make this unfatal too. I did it decently since the point getters finished in relatively small time differences. The part at right under wasn't maybe very good though since Ali crashed there from clear lead when tried to take (and actually took) that other apple directly when coming from left with big speed, which wasn't ment to be taken then. I should have placed that apple more up.

FFC210: House of Pain: I tried to make from this something like FFC110 were. This became easier though because 110 was concired to be too hard. Ali made pretty flaweless run in this. The first five minutes he was having awesome fight with adi - at least on my screen they were completely equal for many minutes. But then adi made really nab death :(

About FFC3: it will be when I have managed to update the results calculator program to calculate everything directly from copypaste and people have made enough levels. So it can be very soon too. But on the other hand there were approx 10-15 players less in each event than in FFC1 so maybe people weren't hungry enough for more FF's and we should have longer break.

Then lets upload levels, recs, screenshots and #ballelma logs from FFC2:

I would like to get those recs too. Also I forgot to dl recs from levels 2, 4 and 6 from FFC2. I would like to get those too.

Also if you have some recs that would be interesting to merge with the winner rec for some reason (tight battle, finished or not) please upload!

It's a shame I couldn't make it again, but I try to at least make a level. I checked the levels out with igge and they're great. I drove through FFC210 and skipped one apple at the start because I thought I would come back to the flower. Guess not, that was a funny surprise =D

It became there when I was making the level: I was finishing making it in a great hurry when cup was about to start and imported in ALE a level consisting the podium decoration thing that you can find from real flower to that. And it caused a random flower to import to somewhere there too and didn't notice to delete it. And it wasn't funny surprise at all for some that did the same thing at the real cup :(

Re: First Finish Cups - 2nd one over

Post by nick-o-matic »

It's been a very long time from the FFC2 so it's time to start thinking the next one. And it's maybe going to be the best so far because I have now completed making my FF-cup calculator program and now it calculates everything very well from just IRC logs and you'll have the standings beautifully printed in #FFC3 maybe just a few seconds after the each event has ended! So no more confusion about the leader.

I hope it isn't too early to keep the FFC3 already on the next week but if it is, it will be held on the week after that. It depends how people start making levels. So welcome everyone to make a level, both the players that have already made levels to previous cups and those that haven't made any yet! (the level situation seems good though at the moment since at least Jappe2, FinMan, tubby and zaraptor already have promised to make a level)

In the following FF-cup I was thinking a system where everyone will start their own levels. This is because then I could play these levels too. It should go so that everyone come to the cup's IRC channel and then we start our levels while some normal battle is going on in belma. (actually this system was in FFC2 too but only with few players.) And of course someone may forget to come to the channel to start his level but for that I'll prepare by making a few spare FFs. But if you know that you can't be online in the FF-cup day you can of course send your level to me and I'll start it then.

Anyway, see you in the FF-cup 3!

I haven't decided yet the exact date because we have to get some levels to there first. But whatever the date is I was thinking 18:00 GMT to be the clocktime and it should be okay for you Canadiens too (for example if you live in Toronto it's 13:00 there if I checked it right).

Nice Bjorn and Mawane. Now there is pretty many names that have promised to make levels (and FinMan says that he has actually even made one).

One thing to the levelmakers: please try to make them as clear and unfatal as possible. At the last cup many players died from good places because of some unclear or surprisingly hard places and then even quit playing the cup because of getting angry. Try to avoid for example that kind of places where you hit the roof in the tunnel in high speed and then if you haven't arrived to the place nicely you maybe don't have time to turn and you hit your head to the floor. Also FF battles seldom are boring even if they were just cruising forward.

Yeah it has done that nearly in every FF-cup event so far and what I have seen it has done it only with FF-cup battles, which is really weird. I have been planning to ask zworqy about this if he knew how to prevent it from flooding, maybe it could be speeded down a bit for a while?

I'm not sure but it seems that the bot gets excess flood every time there's more than x players, where x is something like 35.

I can't change speed of bot pasting.

Oh okay, I see. But I think it isn't so big deal because since it still gives the results for 12 first players I think I can change the point system to be like this:

Placement Points
1 30
2 25
3 21
4 17
5 14
6 11
7 9
8 7
9 5
10 3
11 2
12 1

The changes propably made the system a bit worse because so far in many FF-cup battles there has been nice fights from positions 13-15 too especially in easier levels. But when looking at the top points this system gives relatively bigger prize for the winner, which maybe is good thing. But maybe giving so much points for the winner pressures players to take too big risks and die more. Well the rules are same for everyone and still changeable too. (There hasn't been any complaiments about the basic system so far btw - about the amount of levels for example - so I guess they are OK?)

I've been thinking the date of the cup and decided to put it on Sunday 24th of May and the previously mentioned clock time is 18:00 GMT.

Oh dear I think I have screwed up with summer time a bit. According to http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/18:00 GMT seems to be 19:00 in Great Britain instead of 18:00 like I have supposed. This means that I have gave wrong information to some people. :?

I don't really know know that should it be held at 18:00GMT or 17:00GMT (which I apparently meaned). Propably 18:00GMT = 19:00 British time, 20:00 Swedish time and 21:00 Finnish time would be better because then at least nobody arrives late.

Yeah mopotime seems to show it correctly but also for example for me it says "+2 GMT" which should be +3 on summers so it could be a bit confusing to check time from there. That's why I would prefer checking the time differences from http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ (the cup should start at 21:00 Helsinki time).
