Banana Cup 4

Post by zebra »

Have you ever dreamed of a cup which wouldn't be so severe and where you could only cruise through the levels and get much points? Do you feel the ordinary cups are boring and conservative? Would you like to have more variation in the events? Would you like to participate in a funny cup like Kahvi Cup which was held couple of years ago? If you answered yes to some of those questions, Banana Cup 4 could be the thing just for you! In Banana Cup 4 there are totally 20 events. Each event has different rules. The points may not be given like in ordinary elma cup or the fastest time won't necessarily win. Although this is pretty extraordinary cup, you have to remember that cheating is not allowed either in this cup. And you will need a lot of skills to win this cup. This is after all another well-planned and high-level TAP cup but only with different kind of events.

We are very sorry we forgot to advertise this cup one week ago when the first event was started. Maybe that was the reason why nobody sent in... or was it that ramone's bad lev...

Anyway, you are welcome to start to play the cup now. The second event has just started and the deadline will be on next monday. Good luck everyone. And remember to read the rules carefully! In each event!

More info here: http://koti.mbnet.fi/zebra/bananacup4.html

Have fun!

I had to change the point formula in event 3. Now it rewards you more if you get one apple more. I'm sorry about this and this change wasn't planned.

yeah, everyone was getting the error 404 with the level BC404, so we cancelled the event.

Now there is the event 5 going and it's a dream event for people who don't want to höyl the levels 24/7 :)

About a nitro event... we were afraid with Ramone that it will end up with fighting with the bugs (if bike streches too much). At least we should restrict the values of elasticity and speed somehow. Also timeline can't be changed if you want to be able to save rec (which is obligatory in cup of course). And if we set up some limits for the values, it would be impossible to say if you have exceeded them. Otherwise it sounds pretty interesting though. Or what do you think?

1 week time is a bit long I understand it now but i'm pretty busy the rest of the week so I don't have time to make results etc.

I am kinda scared to win with my first finish run.

Not that my time is anything good but, i think people will make some really average runs not to win.

So, i think i will stick with my first finish replay eventhough i have no clue how people will play this.

Such an interesting cup, too bad there are so few players. I mean, for once there comes a well organized cup, with sick levels, original events and nobody plays it. Kinda sad if you ask me. Good job zebra, what would we do without you!?

Thank you for asking. Maybe you would be actually enjoying your life :D

I hope new players will wake up now and participate in the next events :)

If not, I'm gonna give them minus points for not participating.

you're welcome for doing so. though i'm as interested in the game as ever, i simply have lost the motivation to hoyl. i might occasionally play a level or two as a show-off, but at the deep core of my being, hoyling isn't anywhere near the highest of my priorities.

edit: i'm mainly here to read wise comments. recognize yourself: zebra, bone, nin, john, tj, cap, etc. should a new team be started with most of those, i for sure would consider embarking on the boat. that team wouldn't much be about elma as about anything else. it would above all recognize the need to find meaning in life, then would part from each other and stop playing elma in weeks to come.

thanks! I was quite proud of it actually. I made a little crap run touching no apples (but it was hard, I stopped and waited after like... 10 seconds, because I was stuck), and after that I decided to hoyl a little more for a more interesting apple avoiding run but I couldn't come up with something really interesting. I wanted some bonus points for my nice run avoiding every apple but it was well over my capabilities, sadly.

just a little review on level 406:

first of all, level is well designed. a great many kudos to ramone. graphics are nice, and non-obstrusive. no pictures in the way (unlike in 402 ) for those using wezz's version of highq. gameplay in this level is in its highest, providing the player with many possible styles to choose from. the latter has to remain aware while playing, as this is no ordinary level. you must think of everything that can grant you some extra time. newbies as experts, everyone will invent his own style, and chances are not so many will have the same in all parts. each and every trick you accomplish has the potential of granting you a couple of seconds. the challenge, though, is to succeed in accomplishing all of them in a single run.

the only thing i dislike about this level (and this isn't really ramone's fault), is the "supposed" possibility of hanging somewhere safe, either on a platform or on a wall, for an infinite number of time. the players succeeding the (yet again) so-called "supposed" possible trick, will share the first positions with the other pros. but if most of the pros succeed in doing so, then we might not have the chance to see past the 1:20,xx, mark they would otherwise have broken.

love, from someone trying to stop hoyling...
