igge's bango

Post by Igge »

So I was thiking of having a place where I could collect all my levels and other bango, and also keep you posted on my current projects. This means I'll actually strart publishing my packs when they're done now, instead of just keep them for myself. Hopefully they'll all be on some time-table site in the future, and when they are, I'll add a link here.

Mangopacks:
  • I-levels:
    status: Done
    table/download: here
    style: Semi-hard 10-30 sec hoylas.
priority: None (The pack is finished.)
  • RIP:
    status: Done
    table/download: here
style: Pretty long and cruisable pipe levels.
priority: None (The pack is finished.)
  • CpHoyl:
    status: 50%
    table/download: not yet
    style: Kinda like the I-levels.
priority: Low (Seeing as I already have a hoyl-pack.)
  • VSK:
    status: Done
    table/download: here
style: Old yet still quite nice levels. A pretty wide variety in styles.
priority: None (The pack is finished.)
  • EM:
    status: 75%
    table/download: Not yet
    style: Edited internals
priority: High (I really need to get this pack done! I've been slacking for way too long.)
  • IFF:
    status: 80%
    table/download: Not yet
style: Being originally first finish levels, they're long and cruisable.
priority: High (All I need to do is baically to find snaaab-levels and rename them.)
  • Future pack?
    status: 0%
    table/download: Not yet
style: I'm thinking of making a pack inspired by the internal levels. Kinda like the lost internals.
priority: Low (Won't start making this until all packs mentioned above are finished.)

CETCASTS:

CETCAST 01: A normal battle level [Winning rec]
CETCAST 02: The EM pack
CETCAST 03: The Raven höylä pack

Random mango:

I'm looking for an old pack of mine, consisting of what i think are 8 v-sync levels. they were named iggixx.lev. I think the only place I distributed them was in #across.

If anyone has them and could up, I'd be forever thankful.

Oh, btw, the I-lev wr tt limit has been raised to u 9.10. So just cut those 2,87 seconds, send me your recs and I'll make a vid.

Hm, I couldn't think of a better place to post this, so I'll just post it here. o,o

Anyway, People were asking me how I made the fake ground in levels like IDEA.lev, so I figured I'd try to explain it. Some people will complain, claiming everyone will make levels like this now, but rather see it as a lesson in how to prevent fake ground, if you will.

Anyway, it's really simple, and the pictures will speak for themselves pretty much, but I guess I'll give it a quick explanation.

The "imaginary" ground line appears when a very thin polygon (invisible, pretty much) is located very close to a normal ground polygon. This means that if you have a right triangle very close to another polygon, the very tip of the triangle will generate such a line. This is why you often see such lines in, (sorry), noob levels, as they tend to work with many polygons instead of one. This forces them to move every single polygon very close to each other when they want it to seem like only one polygon, thus resulting in a line of fake ground.

I guess the pics will explain it better:

Hm, I've never heard of, nor seen, fake sky before. Could you perhaps upload the lev, and I'll investigate some? 8)

It sounds, though, like you could simply use an invisible polygon to create fake sky, if you want ground that looks like sky? Or do you mean how to drive inside ground, and have the ground polygons be sky, perhaps? Cause that's easy - just create a very small polygon around the center of the start, inside a large ground polygon. That will allow you to start inside the ground, and thus drive around in it.

Just filmed me making a level with a desktop cam. The movie is 2 hours and 51 minutes long, and you won't get to see it for about half a year. Why? I'm using the level in my cup, which keeps getting delayed due to other people starting new cups 24/7. 8)

Sounds great! Personally i'd love to see it, i watched CETCAST the other day and you design WAY quicker than i do (Although i make very vertex picture perfect from the very start.) So i can imagine a good 3 hours of pure awesome there. Will you be doing commentary on it? Maybe an uber CETCAST 4 :D

Can't wait for the cup, btw.

Guess I could squeeze it in there. It will be a short cup, but for good reasons.

Well, since it is just under 3 hours long, I was thinking of speeding it up and make it one of those 10 min montage things. Perhaps I should add a commentary for 3 hours, then speed that one up as well? :D

Na, but I will probably write notes - perhaps even annotations in the video describing what I'm doing.

ah, he prolly meant this kind of sky:
http://up.k10x.net/ywxsdeusxeikw/examplmw.lev

just make polygon in ALE, go in preferences then options and check the "Don't check orientation" and then transform polygon to make mirror. don't edit afterwards in normal editor or uncheck box ;)
