Mopobattle 180 was played: http://elmaonline.net/battles/33489

Top 10:

1. Madness [SPEED] 00:45,46
2. Markku 00:46,56
3. NightMar [xXx] 00:46,92
4. Mika [27] 00:47,34
5. jblaze 00:47,84
6. juka 00:48,25
7. Vandmand [EMA] 00:49,78
8. Eddi [27] 00:49,80
9. Ismo 00:49,99
10. MIF [EMA] 00:50,06

In the afterbattle Markku made amazing 43,56 with upper style. Also Madness improved his time. There is also another very hard upper style which I tried.

Next mopobattle on Monday 7.5.2012 at 21.00 EEST. Level by Devan. The level is a bit easier this time :)

I tried that Markku style for most of the battle until eventually got fed up and gave up. That jump after second apple is a fuckload harder than it looks, nice rec. Easier next lev sounds goad too!

Hmm I forgot that it's Finland's ice hockey game on friday. I think we should postpone this. When would Lousku want to keep this?

I think we are going to keep a summer break and start the next season in autumn if there is enough interest.

Mopobattle 183 was battled: http://elmaonline.net/battles/34303

Top 10:

1. Markku 00:46,07
2. Kazan 00:46,19
3. finman [MiE] 00:46,28
4. SveinR [TAAF] 00:49,96
5. mena 00:51,55
6. Lukazz [BAP] 00:51,96
7. Eddi [27] 00:52,38
8. Jeppe 00:52,53
9. jblaze 00:55,63
10. Ante [UME] 00:55,70

It was the last mopobattle for now. We'll see on autumn if there is going to be a new season.

I'm very sorry to say that we still don't have any stats :( Maybe Kopaka will make them later this year and we will see the winner. But I think it will be either Markku or Bjenn, because they both have quite many wins.

See the links to all mopobattles on my page: http://koti.mbnet.fi/zebra/mopobattles/events.html
I uploaded also a pack containing all levs and recs.

So, did you like the system or not? Were the levs good or bad? Any ideas how the system could be improved?

i liked it a lot. next time it would be cool if it was posible to have a schedule for the whole season beforehand or just like anouncing battles in good time and reminding people often. i'm sorry to mention this again, but i just really need to be reminded

i liked the variety of levels too. a territory i think mopobattles could try and move into would be battles that resemble normal battles a bit more. i like that mopobattles are long, complex levels we play for 40mins to an hour, but it could be fun to just have a few where the battle length was around 20 minutes and with less complex levels. and see how these battles would turn out in the mopobattle setting (more players, tougher competition etc.)

I also like shorter battles more, I seldom play battles that are longer than 20mins. Also it might be nice to see EOL's new battle modes used in mopobattles. For example I think slowness mode could be used for mega battles with some witty level designing, but you need to be careful not to make it possible to stop in the lev and still finish it.

Also there could be 10 seconds long levels with 1 minute of balletime or one-life/ff mopobattles. Or flag tag mopobattles. And Internal mopobattles! And they could be started more frequently, like 10 times a day.

jesus madness. is the mopobattle format set in stone, can it not evolve or change at all? elma, and battling has changed a lot since mopobattles were around the first time. i'm not talking about a revolution, as i said, i generally really like how this (half?)season has been.

The only way to make a schedule 20 weeks beforehands is to keep mopobattles always on a certain weekday. Now the day changed all the time and I just picked a day that would suit me. That way each player could play at least some battles, but there weren't any kind of consistency, which might have explained the decline in number of players. So I don't know what is best after all.
J-sim wrote:i liked the variety of levels too. a territory i think mopobattles could try and move into would be battles that resemble normal battles a bit more. i like that mopobattles are long, complex levels we play for 40mins to an hour, but it could be fun to just have a few where the battle length was around 20 minutes and with less complex levels. and see how these battles would turn out in the mopobattle setting (more players, tougher competition etc.)
Actually I would like to keep mopobattles as "the battles as they used to be". So I wouldn't like to use the new battle modes too much. But in everyday battles the new battlemodes should be used more often. I just feel that it's much harder to predict whether an apple battle or slowness battle will be successful. The normal battles are usually quite good actually and most people likes them.

About the complexity. Yes, today's mopobattles have been more complex than the very first mopobattles, but that's the evolution as you say. To be able to be "big events", they can't be just 15 sec nonsense crap levels. And by taking little more complex battles, the better players can really use their skills in the battle and not be beaten by some lucky drive by some noob.

sounds good zebra.
concerning the schedule an idea could be to make a schedule beforehand that considers peoples different situations and time zones. like make sure there are weekdays, weekends, early and late ones etc.
but again it's not like it's a big deal, the most important is it suits you and that it actually happens :)

Mopobattle spring 2012 season results are ready! Go to http://elmaonline.net/statistics/league/1 and press Standings.

The top 10 is:

1. Bjenn [EF] 865 pts.
2. Zweq [WNO] 682 pts.
3. finman [MiE] 657 pts.
4. Markku 650 pts.
5. NightMar [xXx] 550 pts.
6. Lukazz [BAP] 484 pts.
7. adi [MiE] 452 pts.
8. ville_j 431 pts.
9. GRob [ngt] 390 pts.
10. Madness [SPEED] 385 pts.

Congratulations, Bjenn [EF]! Bjenn won 5 mopobattles and was very active at least in the beginning of the season, so he deserves the victory. Congratulations also to other top guys. The points were given as SveinR suggested: 100-80-60-50-45-40-36-32-29-26-24-22-20-18-16-15-14-...-1. (for top 30).

Thanks to Kopaka for making the statistics and the EOL site overall. And thanks to all players of course!

That is true, which is why it takes a long time to design such a lev. The problem is that in normal battles it's possible that you only get a handful of players, and then your efforts with the designing go to waste. I feel that people would be willing to put more time into those special levs if they could get them to be battled as mopobattle. Imagine some sick apple battle by Antz with the top mopobullers from previous season: Zweq, FinMan, Markku, NightMar, Lukazz, adi etc.

(Maybe a bad example since only the battle starter could spectate that, but the point is there)

Now when it's possible to create your own leagues to EOL site, you can make your own league with apple battles etc. It's not mopobattles' exclusive right to arrange pre-announced battles.
