Elma Art Project

Post by umiz »

Elma lev making is truly one Art form of its own. Lately ive been to many museums, to watch weird paintings and ununderstandable photos. After all those museums and vernisages a small thought came to my big brain: Why dont i transform all work ive done in the Elma editor to pure and more widespread art?

My idea was simple; make a giant poster of all my levs. After getting some help from Markku with domimap-program i made this collage from ~1500 levmaps.

This is the results. As soon as i get a frame for it i will upload pic when it hanging on wall.

I also wondering about doing a 10 000 levmaps poster (like 2*3 meters or even bigger)

Perhaps I will upload some more coming art projects related to Elma.

Very cool.

Now when I'm making levels for CCC i tend to draw most of them on paper first, so I bought sach ritblock with perforerade A5papper and I intend to put them all up on a wall in my room to make some elma-fondvägg. Elma is art :')

Will you allow others to print it themselves? otherwise i think you should consider selling those posters :D

O,o Also can take pictures from levels with background original colors, and make a big BIKE with those, or instead of pictures, with replays, if there is any program able to do it automatic would be cool thing :D making a replay out of replays o,o

It will look great once it's framed and on your wall. Elma can be very artistic at times.

That is really cool and definitely something I'd consider having on my wall.

I've been wanting to copy this idea. Is there a faster way to mayke levs into images than Domi's program on Zworqy? Or can I somehow put batches through it?
then again i don't know anything

You can use the commandline version and simply copy the line in that .bat as many times as you want, I just tested with 2 levs and that works at least.

For example if you edit lev2bmp.bat in examples folder to:

Code: Select all

vectrast.exe -savebmp test1.png -loadlev inlev.lev -scale 1000,2 1024,6 >> log.txt
vectrast.exe -savebmp test2.png -loadlev inlev2.lev -scale 1000,2 1024,6 >> log.txt
It makes pic for those two levs. It's possible that you can do some loop or get all in a folder with commandline "programming" but I dunno that.

For processing all .lev files in a folder, put the following .bat file in the same folder as the levels, and run it:

Code: Select all

for %%f in (*.lev) do vectrast.exe -savebmp "%%~nf.png" -loadlev "%%f" -scale 1000,2 1024,6
If vectrast is in some other folder, just replace vectrast.exe above with the full path like "C:\Program Files\Vectrast\vectrast.exe".

if you have problems with paths containing spaces or parenthesis, use short-paths. To get the equivalent short-path of a path, open a windows command line (cmd.exe) and type

Code: Select all

dir /X
this will give you the following :

Code: Select all

C:\>dir /X

Right, thanks a lot for help, mans! I made this ~2 months ago but forgot to post.

http://lousku.net/m/

Most of my balle levs theer, chronologically 2009-2013 from top to bottom. All are in teh same scale as well, so conceivably I could cut them up for a megamassive vertical FF in Elma 2.
then again i don't know anything
