nindex recaptured

Post by niN »

nindex
nindex is back! Recordtables, some stats, some stupid stuff that you will probably have a hard time figuring out wth it is etc. all is working semiwell :D!

A few words I guess about the features:

You need to register to upload recs, then you press the "rec deck" to get to the form. You can upload individual recs or zip files with recs. Bare in mind that uploading a zip might take some time if there's like 50 recs in there because it needs to read every rec, compare with eol, write every rec and check for other stuff in it etc. I've tried it with 20 recs and that worked without any ballache, so should be fine. Bjenn tried with 59 and it did not work, so maybe around 20 is the limit...

All times must be driven on-line ofc! And on that note, you need to register same nick as in eol. If you really want a diffrent nick it can be done but you need to tell me so I can do it for you. Guestbook on the website is good for such announcements/requests.

A few things I know is not working yet but will be once I coded it:
1) unfinished or TAS recs are not uploaded even if you checked the box. I will fix this soon.
2) Walter-votes don't do anything yet; but they will do.
3) there's no information/help page. I will probably write one soon because there are some pretty silly functions that need guiding to get.
4) Total times are buggy on recordtables: this is because there are no times in database. Once kuskis uploaded times for the levs everything works normal.

Feedback is very appreciated! You can use the guestbook on the website if you don't want to post here. Full-on advertising campaign will start now. I will try to get this spread on moposite, kopasite and eol site. Also write a line in irc etc.

Markku FF campaign - I will try to force markku to finish all the levs and they will be added as target times for normal kuskis.

Kinglist and Top 10 pages sounds nice, Target Times if pos do it good, hard though since not as played levels as ints for example :P

I like the idea of having one target time per lev, just a little goal for ppl to beat. Could be markkus ff time, ye. Lets force him to ff all levs!

kinglist I can make, something simple though. Maybe +1point for wr and +1point for beating target (so wr holder would have 2 points). top ten I dunno, in the past like I said there have never even been 10 times per lev, so imo thats unnecessary.

There are many levels missing in the record list for Trek levels =/
Edit: never mind, the missing levels were magically created when I upped recs.

Around 20 recs/zip file recommended, otherwise upload takes too long and you get timeout (white page).

There are a few levels that seem to be missing, this is not the case. As soon as someone uploads a replay on that level the level will appear in the recordlists. The reason levels are "missing" is becase there are no times there yet.

Thanks for upping your trecs bjenn :)

Less then a month in we already have over 400 submitted times! That to me is absolutely fantastic! Huge thanks to all you people playing and sending records. New levpack coming pretty soon.

I interviewed Bjenn about the Trek Tracks and the interview can be read on the newspage of nindex. Good stuff Bjenn!

Ooo nice, wonder who it will be. I always enjoy the interviews, such in-depth analyses are quite rare in the scene nowadays.

Getting error trying to up times. I think maybe you just need to give site new EOL IP or something?)

EDIT: oh oke, maybe it's something else because it seems Zero has upped times after ip change

hm, it's probably got something to do with the API change Kopaka did. I have time tonight, will fix it.

Made it so old stuff should still work, but might have missed some cases. All I can see is it doesn't save in the log, so it must cause an error somewhere before that. If you can see which url your script uses I can look into it.

Does anyone want access to write interviews/newsposts on nindex? I'm not active anymore and can't see myself being unfortunately. But if there's any interest it would be cool to give someone access to write stuff on nindex... Otherwise I will probably take the site down eventually.

nindex will be taken down December 2018. No big loss, everything is run through elmaonline these days and that's a good concept!

Thanks to everyone who submitted times, played our cups or visited the website! It was fun :)

it's currently down, but I will bring it up again in a few days. So if anyone wants to they can go through the levels in a nostalgic evening.

I still have some Trek Tracks II levels saved away I think... dunno what to do with them.

For those who are curious, I am working hard with my company in Sweden. Putting all my effort into that. www.forsutforskning.se
