Re: 8X8 Chain FF Project

Post by danitah »

Ok, so time to get this project finished!

After so many years I feel like I have some explaining to do. Well I've pretty much had some kind of mental block to working on this project. At some point I started working on it, but after a while I realized I had messed up everything and all the pictures/textures were missing. Then I lost all motivation again... It's not an excuse at all for this having taken so long of course, but I had already told some people I was close to posting an update in lauta, which was quite unfortunate. After this I decided to not give any update or time limits until I had worked a significant amount on the project, and had prepared a plan as well as I can for how to finish it.

I realize I've probably lost some trust because of this whole thing, which is understandable of course. I apologize to everyone who spent their time making a part for the project.

Now I can finally say that I am motivated to work on this again, and I am very excited to see the result! I will contact all of the designated designers for the parts below over the next few days to make sure they are all aware of it. I hope I didn't include anyone who sent their parts, if so I apologize, and please send it again.

Parts who need some minor work (just notes for myself, these designers don't have to do anything):
A04 - Editing required, need arrows to make route clear. Longest part by far, might have to re-evaluate it if the final lev is too long.
B12 - Editing required, needs numbered arrows to make lev clear.
D01 - Editing required, apple too easy to miss.
D03 - Testing required, maybe small edits needed.
F05 - Editing required, too easy to die, too thin hangs.
H04 - Hardest part, might need new.

Timeframe to finish the project:
June 12: Last day for anyone in the list below to send in their part.
June 24: Last day for anyone who is not in the list below, and got a part before June 15 to send in their part.
July 8: Last day for anyone who got a part before July 5 to send in their part.
If there are any missing parts after this, new designers will have have 2 days to make their part.
If possible in the FEM schedule, lev will be released as 60min FF during FEM.

Missing parts, all parts not mentioned below has been accepted:
Deadline July 5:

You'll find your part in this zip: http://kopasite.net/up/x8733ws5eo6ptp2/88.rar

See first post in the topic for rules and guidelines about designing.

You don't need to design anything very intricate when making your part. There are lots of relatively compact and complex parts already. The lev needs some more simple breathers.

If anyone is interested who didn't join the project yet, please wait. I will post here if there will be open parts.

After I made my part F05 I felt it was too hard (or more precisely it was too easy to die as you said), but since it had already taken a long time for me to make I didn't change it. If you prefer a new one I can redesign it, but if you think you can just edit it it's fine for me as well.

Thanks for continuing with the project, I had been wondering why there was not a single line of status update even though you were active in the scene. Elma life is not that hectic so there's no need to worry :)

Since there are more people interested in joining than parts available, I'll only give parts to people who didn't make any yet, and only one part to each new designer. Please let me know if you don't want to make your part(s) for whatever reason, and I'll redistribute them soon. I hope Kuchi can make one part, would be awesome to have a kuchi part, don't have to take it so seriously, just make some cruise. :D

Kuchi has given away his parts and they are given to:
tej
Haruhi
AndrY

Deadline for these three: June 24

Designers in line for parts:
Sla
pawq

Now you can let me if you are interested, and I'll add you to the list. The first people in the list does not have first right to any new parts. I'll redistribute any new parts randomly to people in the list on may 15.

There will be hard deadline on July 5 for all designers who are left. I will try to reach out to everyone I can.

Let me know if you made less than 3 parts so far and are willing to make 1 or 2 parts within 10 days after july 5, there will probably be some open parts.

I think it's fine after all, and it can be driven very safely. It's probably not most deadly part considering that.

So how will this go regarding the 60 minutes battle time? It is likely that many kuskis will keep on playing to finish the lev or is it finishable ez in under 60 mins?

I'll try to find the time to participate myself too!

If drive fairly safe, time should be 50-60min.

I'll make custom results from any finishes after battle is over, so you don't have to rush just to finish within the battle time. I'll be online at least like 4-5 hours after the battle is over, so I should spot any late finishes.

This is also a chance for the people who can't play the lev to get in standings, you can play whenever during the evening.

I will post map image of the whole lev about 30min before the battle starts, since 2min to spy the lev is ofc not enough.

Andry was in second to last square when 60min battle ended. EOL has a bug where if the battle ends while you're in your FIRST run, you lose the ability to control your kuski. This happened to Andry when battle ended. He almost certainly would have finished if it wasn't for this bug.

Yeah, when playing super big FFs, you should just esc and reenter immediately on start. But I guess this bug is not very well known.

7 alternative versions:
8x8FFB.lev
8x8FFC.lev
8x8FFD.lev
8x8FFE.lev
8x8FFF.lev
8x8FFG.lev
8x8FFH.lev

Version B starts at 2nd row, and ends in first. So version B is rows 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1 version C is rows 3,4,5,6,7,8,1,2 etc.

This gives some extra replayability I think, since you don't always have to replay the same starting area.

It's interesting to see which parts people think might be mine. Some of those do kind of look like levels I would make :P
Btw, I gave my first part (13) to mawane, but that doesn't change the points, so no matter.
