Task manager --> belma.exe --> Priority --> BelowNormal (or Low)

That has worked for me, I had exactly the same problem. You can make a batch (.bat) file for that in Elma folder with this line (so you don't have to go to task manager each time you start elma):

start /BELOWNORMAL belma

People said turn off any sound program: skype, iTunes, wmp, blah and blah. Recently, my buttons started lagging like FUCK HELL too. When hoyling TEH03, I fucked 1/3 of my runs because of button lag. And strong ones, sometimes there was no response for 10 secs and then it did every button I pressed during that time for like 20 secs, and then it kept lagging for a while, making it unplayable, before I can finally play again normally.

you can try other affinities as well, all of them. you can also check task manager what processes might be eating performance. or try to remember if you installed some new software lately. get p/s2 keyb instead of usb. get rid of those viruses. try playing offline. reinstall os. what else can i suggest, you didnt give much info

backup all your files and stuff that you want to keep.
reformat your hard drive.
install windows (or whatever).
install drivers, etc.
copy over the files and stuff that you backed up (including belma).
good as new :)

In case you are going to reinstall OS, unplug the network cable during installation.

Well, assuming you run belma on xp (would be nice to know what system you are running) you will need only these processes to keep windows running. You may try it to know whether it is keyboard or system issue. I do not recommend to play belma or do anything on regular basics using only these processes.

System Idle Process
explorer.exe
taskmgr.exe
spoolsv.exe
lsass.exe
csrss.exe
smss.exe
winlogon.exe
svchost.exe (you need all svchosts)
services.exe
