how to check your fps

nekit was telling me that his fps was only at 242, and i asked him how he even knew that. and he said something about f_rate, and tried to explain to me how to do it myself. yet within all the broken english i had no idea what to do, anybody know what this is and if you could explain to me the steps in how to be able to check my fps?

create file named f_rate.inf in elma folder
starta elma
play a level, esc
tab out, take a look iNSIDE f_rate.inf and see the magic =D

yeah this is what nekit told me to do and it has not worked. what type of file do i need to name "f_rate.inf"? i just used a simple blank notepad file yet that is all it remains after i put it in my eol folder and play levels.

you probaly named it f_rate.inf.txt

jon-thesmartman-harkulsykkel tries to say, that ".inf" is the file-type here just to be sure you have it right.

i use fraps

as morgan says you can also use fraps which will show the fps ingame while you play, simply install and have it open in the background. Should be noted that if you use fps limiter it won't affect the fps shown by fraps.
