Moposite future and Elmawiki

Post by Abula »

I have made some decisions about the Moposite's future. We are going to move at least Stuff, Information, some of the Community, LGRs, Levels to Elmawiki (http://wiki.elmaonline.net/Main_Page). In addition the running contests will be moved to Kopaka's site. Moposite will host only News, WRs, Records, Mopolauta and maybe the interactive Community features (which should be recoded).

The todo
1. Design a wiki structure
2. Move data to Elmawiki
3. Move running contests to Kopasite
4. Fix Moposite for it's new purpose

Design a wiki structure
Before we start moving data to Elmawiki, the structure of it should be thought through. I'll introduce my version here and people can suggest modifications to it. After that we'll deploy it.

Move data to Elmawiki
The idea is not just move the Moposite data but also Elma Ultimate DVD and all the other essential, cool, worth remembering Elma data. And because the platform is Wiki, everybody can do it.

Move running contests to Kopasite
We finally try to get the Moposite contests to live again. We will inform more when the transfer is ready. The stopped contents (24h TT, Mopobattles, maybe WCups) can be moved to Elmawiki.

Fix Moposite for it's new purpose
Remove moved sections. Make Community section better. Fix remaining little things.

Elmawiki strcuture
And finally my suggestion for the structure. Please share your comments!

About time! This is the only format that the vaults of Elma history make sense to exist in.

Oh Tigro..

Ont: Great initiative; about time something like this happens. Moposite has remained stagnant for way too long, so hopefully this project won't just get dropped in a few days or weeks or whatever.

And by the way: there is no point for translations in Wiki. That's just waste of effort.

Would love to help but don't really know enough accurate history of Elma. I guess I could just transfer some info from moposite to the wiki. I already made a page for every internal and the internal level table. I also made redirections for internals, so if you search "internal 1" it's redirected to Warm Up. Small stuff but makes it more comfortable to use :P

Child let me be honest with you, the high contrast blue Wiki is a bit old fashioned, and what I'd call ugly. Although saying "ugly" is really an understatement compared to what I expressed about it on IRC. I'm not commenting on content though which could very well be of high quality.

I've deployed the main structure. Then we can start copypasting data.

I really hope people could contribute. If you don't have any other ideas, then just copy data from Moposite to Wiki. For example pages under Information should be an easy start. SveinR could move GAA? Raven KOM?

For my part, while I cannot say I dislike the look of the site you wrote on, Tigro, I have always been against such a divergence of efforts in terms of content creation. There are enough opened and ongoing projects to not warrant or justify such an undertaking, however good intentions were under your hat.

Made a quick guide on how to edit and add content including uploading files:
This also works as an example on how to style text.

Code: Select all

This is a quick guide to editing and creating content on this wiki.
Create User
* Register on
* Check your email and click the confirm link
* Login on
Edit Page
* Search or browse to a page from frontpage
* Click "edit" tab at the top of the page
* Start editing
Create Page
* Write desired name as a search query
* Click on "Create the page "Your Name Here" on this wiki!" to create it
* Start writing
Upload File
* Click Upload file in toolbox at right panel
* Select your file
* If filename exists already it will notice you
** Select a different name, unless it's an edit of old file
* Write summary if desired
* Click "Upload file"
If you wish to upload a filetype not in permitted file types contact Kopaka
File max size is 20mb, if you wish to upload larger files contact Kopaka
Link a file
For pictures, if you wish to show the actual picture on the page:

to use the full version of the file

to use a 200 pixel wide rendition in a box in the left margin with 'alt text' as description (not working)

To make a normal link to the file:

the interface is very easily changable. and as long as it is wiki, anyone can add anything (obeying rules ofc).

How about linking to Wiki from Moposite main menu?
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?

I have now moved all GAA pages from Moposite to the wiki (GAA03-GAA06). Obviously stuff can still be added and improved, and maybe I'll get around to creating the other GAA pages (GAA07-GAA11) this weekend.

Added Action SuperCross page. http://wiki.elmaonline.net/Action_SuperCross

Please more people join! This won't be made by a few. We don't want to forget our own history / Elma heritage, don't we?

That's nothing new, there were an extreme amount of attacks like that earlier on the elmwiki, before we moved it and added some more security measures.

Yes, Kopaka had to close the connection to Moposite because it was blocking EOL. Hopefully he will find a solution.

The "Food anim number" option doesn't change the gravity, it just sets which angle the apple has.
Is this correct/what does it even mean? I'm only aware of the fact that you can get a darker looking apple by changing this number. Maybe this needs an edit?

Correct, it doesn't change the gravity. However, "apple angle" is not a good term imo. :D
Foodanim is for decoration purposes only. There are 9 slots for foodanims in LGRs.
Default.lgr has only 2 different anims, and if you enter 3, 5, 7, or 9 for foodanim, it uses foodanim#1. Similarly, 4, 6, 8 uses foodanim#2.
There's another description here: http://wiki.elmaonline.net/LGR#Animations
