That was an joke and a sophisticated music reference. Now, why should there be a rule against having the nickname "Hitler"? I won't accept "you already know why" as an answer. Give a real reason.

Pawq's frustration is justifiable. Hitler is widely considered a douchebag for a reason, and keep in mind Pawq is polish and Poles suffered a lot at his hands.

@Jappe shut already up, i don't care how super uber tolerant you are, whether in your country fucking 8years old girls, how many nazi/fazi comics you throw your laughs and appreciations at daily, my close family speaking of grandgrand parents, suffered poverty, excessive slavery and more and more, not to mention trillions of other aspects. because of the 'hero' you want to hail by identifying your internet persona with him you show total lack of good taste and disrespect to us, guess Pawel's grandgrands had had similar story
<Pawq> at a gym you have only 3 options: 1. have your eyes closed, 2. stare at yourself, 3. stare at others, all of which are either super boring or disgusting

So did mine, but I feel like by fearing his name you're only giving him more respect. If you can't even make a joke about them, they've already won. They did what they did to get respect, and that is exactly what they get if we continue to tip-toe around something as silly as their names.

hitler nick would be an obvious provoking / trolling attempt. the meaning of life is not to provoke and be evil to eachother. the meaning of life is to harvest apples, touch flowers and hold hands forever in eternal love.

It's not about fearing his name, it's about calling oneself his name!!!!! Do you imagine calling somebody "Hitler"? This is fucking wrong! Maybe it's just the matter of the way I was raised, but for me Hitler is the purest personification of evil. And I'm not saying that anpal is identifying with him or anything close, I'm saying that it's a super immature behaviour expressing a total disrespect to those who suffered from him. I remember some freaks calling eachother Hitlers in my grammar school, and being instantly flamed by their schoolmates for doing so. It is just WRONG.

I think Hitler is somewhat of a pop culture phenomenon as well. There have been people close to or even way worse than Hitler, who don't get nearly as much attention (these for instance.)

It's the nature in which Hitler killed. "Are you jewish? Die. Are you redhaired? Die. etc." That causes him to be so famously known.

Hitler callously ordered the explicit extermination of disabled people, for example.

Well sure, but the way Zedong killed millions of people isn't necessarily a lesser crime because of that. What I meant is for instance:
Jappe wrote:can some mod change my nick to MaoZedong?
I honestly don't think anyone would care if someone went by that nick. I've seen several people who do, actually. I have, however, never seen someone go by the name "Hitler" on a forum. I just find it strange.

Even if Hitler was worse, Zedong, too, is still at the top of the scale along with him. Hitler just gets more attention anyway. Perhaps it's because he was European, I don't know. That's what I meant with the pop culture phenomenon anyway.

Why would you want to ban immature nicks? Let anpalcactus express his immaturity and be a fool if he wants to. As for disrespect, how is "Hitler" a disrespectful nick? Even if it is, it's ridiculous to ban the usage of it. And if you start banning nicks, why not ban Luther as well (both against jews)? Where to draw the line?

Also, why did you start this conversation if you're not willing to argue? You respond to reasonable statements with "fuck you" and refuse to explain your point of view. In my opinion that's far more immature than using the nick "Hitler", but I'm not going to demand banning for that. Just answer questions instead of claiming that the person asking already knows the answer.

Imo anpal's request is retarted, immature and mostly offensive. I'm stricktly againts nazism and wars, and if someone has nick "hitler" it's the same as having "IHateJews" or "HolocaustWasOki".

And if you change nick, I deffinitely won't greet you in EOL. "Hi anal" is fun greeting, but "hi hitler" is twisted and depraved.

btw: although I agree with you Pawq, your argumentation is almost non-existing... I wanna know your exact opinion too.

Hitler is a nice valve.
Indeed some of those crimes you all pointed out, weren't firstly his personal ideas. How about Goebbels? Himmler? Mengele? Look 32tt-project, nice menge(r)le-style rec there. Anyone offended?

How about blaming the regime? A whole nation made this massacre possible for being idiotic, surpressed and/or indifferent/apathetic.
I personally find it audacious, to use "hitler" nick, but if you ban hitler, than easily ban me too for being german. And zelter plz. and insguy. and DaFred. and ElrondMcBong. and welle.

Just for general knowledge: since 1945 almost no german couple called his son "Adolf". Since 0 no italian couple called his son "Hannibal". coincidence?

I don't think a usual German would like to be compared to Hitler, or, is similar to him in any way, apart from the nationality.
