Maybe because they aren't, and have never been, emo. Neither are most of the bands commonly referred to as emo today actually emo.

If you want to listen to what emo actually is, check out Rites of Spring and Embrace. I guess it doesn't really matter though, as the originators of the genre disapprove of the term.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

I can't believe this, I used to hate MCR because they looked so Emo, but now that they're pumping out awesome songs like this in their new album, The Black Parade, they are now on my all time favorite band list!

Well I believe he wrote it after he shot himself. But they were good friends Kurt and him. And indeed, it was ahame he shot himself :(

Did you also know that just before Kurt committed suicide he phoned Michael Stipe and said that he wanted to talk. But Michael said that he had no time since he was on a gig somewhere.

Frank Zappa is an undiscovered gem for me yet. I only listened to Hot Rats and Absolutely Free much until now, the rest is still kinda new to me. I know a guy from school who owns all official records by zappa, and lots of rare limited editions LPs and bootleg CDs. Funnily enough he even has a slight resemblence with zappa by the look of his face and his weird taste of absurdistic humour.

We have every single record, concert tape, stuff etc by Zappa aswell. Dad is a huge fan, and was a personal friend of him. They also made some music together, although nothing official. :)

Jedi Mind Tricks ft. R.A. the rugged man - Uncommon Valor: A Vietnam Story (video)

ok, this is rap but, it's surely one of the best track i've heard. A good storyline, no shit about money, bling bling, cars, thug shit. Just a good story about a soldier during the Vietnam war.

And for rap haters, check the second rapper (R.A.), he sounds a bit like Juish!

Great songs = Linkin Park ^_^ saw them live in October, they were Fucking awesome.

No More Sorrow
What I've Done
Given Up
Faint
Breaking the Habit
A Place for my Head
Papercut
One Step Closer.

The song names sound real Emo, but no way.
