Interstellar 1p: Maybe this deserves a higher score - as someone who has studied astrophysics and cosmology it's jawdropping to view the black hole and wormhole as how they actually would appear - not to mention the spectacular effects of general relativity it shows. Every year I show this to my physics students - there's a lot of interesting physics to discuss here, not only with regards to general relativity. If you're interested in learning more about the science behind what's showed in the movie, I thoroughly recommend this talk by Kip Thorne - the Nobel prize winning physicist and probably the foremost expert on general relativity in the world, who was the science consultant on the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM-N0tbwBB4

Rush is a nice movie imo but still quite generic and "safe" in its storytelling (of real events and characters). Whiplash has more edge and feels a lot more raw.

The Dark Knight Rises VS Zero Dark Thirty Really difficult decision. DK Rises managed to make Batman interesting and it's a great cinema experience while ZDT is well-made but a bit tough to sit through. But it's by a hair!

The Dark Knight Rises VS Zero Dark Thirty Seen both long enough ago to not really know which I like more, but got Zero rated 9 and Dark Knight rated 8

The Hateful Eight VS Gravity Dame, I might look like a Tarantino hater here :X Both h8ful8 and dżango very good, but not his best in my book, and in this case both losing to 9s

In Time VS Interstellar - I am glad In Time made it this far, but Interstellar is superb in pretty much every aspect here
The Hateful Eight VS Gravity - damn, I need to watch Gravity
Room VS Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
The Martian VS 21 Jump Street
Joker VS Ex Machina - toughest choice of this round. Ex Machina was quite interesting, but Joker wins it for me
Drive VS Inception - as cool as Drive is, there's now way it is better than Inception
Spotlight VS Edge of Tomorrow
The Wolf of Wall Street VS Jagten / The Hunt - Jagten seems like a really cool movie, gotta watch it soon too. But I hope Wolf wins.
Inside Out VS Whiplash

The Big Short VS Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - both of these films are kinda forgetable for me. The Big Short's plot is closer to my interests
Gisaengchung / Parasite VS Ford v Ferrari - Parasite is just so damn original that even movie as good as Ford vs Ferrari stands no chance

Dunno if here discussion about certain movies allowed, but what is it with Ex Machina? Many of you seem to love that movie. I found it incredibly boring. What is the value I am not seeing?

I liked the suspense of Ex Machina, it's like a psychological thriller and you know something's going wrong. The idea is simple, unique and close to my own interests. I like movies where the premise/setting is limited (like Phone Booth and Buried) and the suspense and plot is built through dialogue and little things.

I could ask the same question about The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I rented it just to be able to vote the pair and thought well that was 4 euros wasted since Birdman is so much better and I didn't get the appeal at all. Not bad but just a bit boring. In some way it reminded me of The Way Way Back which was a lot better too.
