Army

Post by Abula »

onlainari, Karlis, mr, Jokke, Toble are in, at least. Only Toble won't get out next month. I know no one who would go in this summer..anyone? I myself have to go there in July 2003 (ah, I'm waiting).

You know, our army service is compulsory thing for all Finnish men (alternatively you can choose a job (13 months) to help our country (without any salary of course) or prison. Army takes 6-13 months, depending on what course you have (I'll try to get in 'Communications' which means 6 or 12 months, leadership is 12).

Be happy if you don't have to waste one year for this.

In Hungary all able men must go to the army for 9 months or alternatively they can choose public service for 18 months (no payment of course). I just refuse to go in, and they keep fining me for 10000 HUF every year (that's around 41 EUR). There is a law which enables the army to send me into jail, but as Hungary will turn it's army to mercenary, they doesn't really care anymore if ppl are not going in when required... Lucky for me :D

i didn't have to go , and in principle it's great cos i don't want to do anything for this state (sweden) cos that would be a way to support capitalism . but army can be good for u personally , especially if u don't wanna do it , u go there with a smile on your face , smile cos u r happy that u can grow so strong , and there u r your impeccable self in spirit .

ribot: but then you have to be strong enough to be cool of spirit and don't let them waste your mind as they always does or try to do in the army. And it's not so cool cause most of us have better things to do than go to the army.

for the mighty aussie army you get voluntary enrollment (unless theres a war), you get paid AUS$30,000 a year(bout 15000 Euro), and its mostly just like a university with some physical stuff

in nz they only get 20, 000 a year which is about 16,000 aussie dollars

so thats why no one joins the nz army

even though we won the war

We (me and PeXi) were thinking about the number of the Elma players who have driven WR(s) after their army. Found at least these: Jouni, Karlis, mengerle, Jokke, psy. And possible (or not sure): Kaje, mr, loX, TuA, Nostrada

Well actually not, because I refused and did nonmilitary service.
My little brother (Jamo) was 9 days in the army and left, now he'll have to do 13 also.

i thought doing civil service could be a better option instead of 12 months, but i started to think deeper. yeah u get to home after work, but 13 months same, most likely boring, and FREE job. its a battle between days and evenings. darn i forgot to save replay

You think army is shorter, more interesting and less free? At least shorter but maybe only one month (that's if we compare the number of the months but not the hours). More interesting? Maybe the first two weeks. The end of the army is very boring. Just wasting time. Free, you don't like freedom? Or you mean no-salary? Yea I see, you get so much moeny in the prison..er I mean army. Was it like 3.5e but unfortunately in the non-military service you get at least double of that.

I'm going to army.

Abu, in the non-military you get exactly the same daily allowance as in army. In my case I got also food compensation as my serviceplace did not offer any food. And of course after six moths the daily allowance gets a bit higher.

Nowadays, in the news i've just seen a young guy, who went to army, and some of his commanders and his mates made him feel such weak and stupid and etc, he tried to commit suicide. He jumped out from a window on the second storey. Luckily he survived. If somebody is weaker, or different in a community, then it is really hard to stay alive among them.
It's just like afro and gipsy ppl's state here in Hungary.
