DC++ at source forge rules, here you have to share alot to get the most.

Another P2P software: Warez 2.8, some also use Lime Wire

for torrents I personally use the new Azureus

I have tried many client. Lately I have been using Bitcomet and Bitlord. Those 2 seems to be eating less memory when they have open for a long period of time. You can also choose how much memory they eat and I usually drop it by 2 and it helps the system not getting heavy and they still work really fine.

Thad torrentspy.com has nice seed for prince of tennis eps :-)

torent is really simple, simpler than dc. also, it is easier to get complete files, resuming, and smaller chance of virus.

the idea is simple, download a client, azureus or bitcoment for example. install it. then go to a torrent site, search file, download it. you will get a .torrent file, that you can just open with your torrent client.

now wait. sometimes it takes a while before the download starts. otherwise, its health might be low (few seeds or peers), meaning not enoujgh ppl are online to share it. but behold. you can just leave it there, and it might finish in a few days.

well with direct connect most files never finished. although you easier find better speed there, it's a lot more messy, you have hundreds of incomplete files, millions of files in queue, and you have to search again and again to finish old stuff. you really want to search several times for each file? and then get 90% and the guy you dl from quits, and then you never get the file.

this is enough to make me not use dc any more. although you find more stuff on dc, naturally, because you can share any shit you want. most of this stuff is crap anyway, but sure, you find rare mp3s and stuff too (like elma).

note to all bt downloaders: if you care about mem, azureus takes loads of mem. it is a really good interface, but made in java. i havent tried bitcomet seriously, but it seems good, and onla says it uses less mem, so, i would start with that at least. looking at dc++, it's not as powerful at all, i think, for doing things you want with downloads.

I've usually just used .torrent for downloading some tv series, and then this site: www.tvtorrents.com . A warning though, the site has to be the slowest ever.

The client I use is ABC, very happy with that.. Haven't tried any of the others, but I'm so happy with ABC I don't feel I need to. Plus, it has teh most TEH name: yet Another Bittorrent Client.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?

Yo guys,

where do you download stuff, when it is not on torrents or when google does not help? I am getting into some lesser know music artists and eventhough they have a lot of votes on major rating sites and even wiki articles, they are surprisingly hard to find on interwebs.
Also RNC always dowloads all the impsy-to-find films easily :D Maybe I should get into some russian sites.

I use torrentz.eu and uloz.to (czech site, but quite stuffed and ez to dl).

oke

edit: oke, typing artist name + "torrent" into google gets better renaults than torrentz.eu. Just a note for myself.

More obscure stuff might be on private trackers only. What.CD is very good for music, I think Danielj can give you an invite if you ask. For specifically Japanese music there is JPopsuki.eu, I can invite if someone is interested. Also quite a lot of underground stuff is posted on Blogspot blogs, so often searches like "sadistic mika band site:blogspot.com" will give good results. Russian RuTracker.org is also fantastic for all kinds of material. Then of course there is Pirate Bay...

I can recommend rutracker.org for music and films. For music I prefer blogspot.com sites. EZ to google for any music, just need to add "inurl:blogspot.com" after performer's name.
IsraBox is good, too. I used to download from AvaxHome but that's shitty nowadays.

edit: oh I didn't see kuchitsu wrote almost the same 5 mins ago :D

Compare your search phrase + the word "torrent" on google.com and other search site like bing.com. Google hides like 90% of torrents and other warez stuff so I wouldn't recommend it for this stuff at all.

torrents.ru is indeed legendary. Mostly 10 min balle in OLP01.

If you don't want to get search results hidden, use Tor.
kat.cr is best now
piratebay.se/la/whatever works atm., but after issues this ceased to be the best torrent site
sktorrent.eu for slovak/czech dubbed stuff, but I don't trust the admins because they are faggots (leaked passwords and e-mails)
uloz.to is great too
yify/yts was amazing for movies, dunno about situation now (he got arrested or something, and many fake yify came out)
otherwise I just check torrentfreak to know which trackers are best, which have issues and which aren't trustworthy.

but generally speaking about music, I prefer iTunes... *gasp*

I knew a guy who downloaded torrents from thepiratebay and kat using utorrent.

However I have since discovered that he now uses live streaming. He bought a voyo computer that hooks up to a tv through an HDMI cable, uses a Logitech controller to basically have a keyboard for the tv (acting as a monitor). The voyo computer has a software called kodi which can contain a client called exodus that compiles every live streaming site into a nice packaged system similar to netflix, except it has way more stuff and is free. Anything he searches for he finds quickly with it, game of thrones walking dead stuff like that come up pretty much the next day, it also has all the seasons and movies you could ever think of. You should research exodus...

There is no way that you can find obscure stuff in any of the random trackers, so why not using search engines to search through all of them? Not talking about private trackers, since I don't seed much (slow upload speed) and you usually need to have a high ratio there.

Speaking of torrent clients, I currently use Transmission. It's freeware, no ads, official Windows version is promised to be released soon, so I just use this custom Windows port in the meantime: https://sourceforge.net/projects/trqtw/ ... ission-Qt/. Definitely a nice change from the uTorrent crapware I used before (you can disable ads in advanced settings, but still). I can definitely recommend it. When I was trying to ditch uTorrent, I tested qBittorrent, Deluge, Tixati, Vuze and Transmission and then finally decided for Transmission.

Never thought people would port Mac programs to Windows, quite funny to see. Transmission is much better than any other program I have found. No ads, sleak design, all the useful features, automatic encryption etc.

Older versions could contain possible security exploits. I, too used an older version of uTorrent for a while, but after a couple of months I decided to update to the newest version and just disabled all the garbage and ads in advanced settings. Anyway, I am very pleased ever since I switched to Transmission.

Additionally, I use PeerBlock to block all the known IPs from aP2P companies and botnets.
