It doesn't necessarily have to be F8. It could also be other buttons, such as F10, or delete. I suggest you try every "F"-button.petsen wrote:i dont get that scréen at all

Can't you just put the files on a CD ? They should work on Windows... well, not the Linux files ( the ones with weird extensions, not taken by Windows ).Xiphias wrote:But still.. how do i copy files from Linux?... that aren't writeable or smtg.

Windows XP usually is and should be instlaled on a NTFS partition.
NTFS unfortunately isn't yet fully supportet in much yet, as far as i recall you can only write overwrite existing files with the same amount of data, Meaning you can't delete or write files on a NTFS partition.
That's why your windows drive is only mounted as read-only in knoppix/anything besides windows.
The only way of safely writing to a NTFS partition on a linux machine is to use a windows dll emulator to load the windows 98 ntfs dll driver and crazy-fix that to act as a linux go-between driver (Since this required the windows ntfs dll file, it won't be installed on knoppix as default because of the illegal thing).
However, you can boot up in knoppix and backup your drives to a fat32 partition somewhere. Ofc fat32 partitions are getting quite rare these days.
