I guess we all know them. The useless shitty programs! Have you run into some dipshit software which you want to share with us? This thread is just about that.

Useless softwares comes in all sorts and shapes. Also, what's useless for one, may be useful for another. We can sort out here, wether programs/tools/stuff are useless or perhaps a swiss army knife in disguise. By the way, if you feel like adding some piece of hardware that is related to computers, you shouldn't hesitate to note such too. So useless shits of foldable computer mice and CD burners that have lights on them are welcome here aswell.

My first pick is Microsoft Outlook. Did any of you ever use that? I really wonder what's it good for?

I have an ICQ account, but WTF, it's like using phone numbers just to MSN people, and it's a minority messenger anyway, so WHY WOULD YOU BOTHER? (I never use it)

WinZIP is not useful, although I prefer free archivers. WinZIP is quite clean an integrates well on Windows.

MS Outlook is not developed anymore and considering how much there are issues with it I guess it's quite useless indeed. Just get another email client.

IE is quite useless... only thing it's good for is IE-only websites

Well, I guess we all agree with the uselessness of keyboards that don't allow three simultaneous keypresses.

I find Adobe Acrobat reader really the shittiest program existent, luckily I ran into some freeware pdf reader, that is faster, and doesn't bug around like the shit program of adobe.

i have microsoft outlook at work. i use all the time, that's why i bought an htc phone, just to have outlook wherever i go. and it's good, i'm satisfied.
also, every document that comes out of the office has to be pdf so yes, i also use adobe a damn lot.

what do u think of system mechanic? some guy installed it on my comp some yrs ago and until the serial got outdated i thought it did quite a good job.

What's quite an enigma for me by the way is the problem solver of windows. It usually ends with "this problem can't be solved". In other words, give up and die.

Oh, and those darn error messages, that ask you wether you wanna send the logs to microsoft, where they will be observed thoroughly and with great care, to ensure further improvement of the already multifunctional & beneficial software. Sure.

Anyways, for all you who like instant messenging, get Trillian. Trillian allows one to connect to AIM, ICQ, MSN, YIM, IRC, and Skype, all from one program, it's pretty awesome, I use it, and I recommend it to everyone. It also protects against viruses, programs like MSN are horrible at that.

Hehe, Anry Color Picker. If you're into HTML, or anything to do with having a color here and there, you can use the program to identify the colors on your screen. That's all it does, so it's extra simple, just being a single .exe file.

in Chicago I saw a show of Cory Arcangel who is some kind of weird artist who makes crazy stuff. He showed a program called TAC - Total Asshole Compression. You compress a file and it gets bigger. Too bad it is for mac only...

and all those software that start automatically on boot, and some of them even tells you the same message over and over again disturbing other processes (usually anti-virus.)
