Hoyling of Rubic's Cube

Post by Polarix »

I bought a rubic's cube (3x3x3) 3 days ago, but this evening i found a guide on internet, which shows in datail an easy way to do it. Well i used hours to learn the system today so i can say my record is like 3 hours, which dont count since its way to long time. (for all nabs, ofc all 6 sites of the cube must be complex)

So atm im very nab, but if i hoyl it maybe i can do like some minuttes

Have anyone of you made the cube, and if so, how long time?

i used to be able to do it in like 5 minutes, did the same thing as you with the internet thing, basically laid in my hammock and tried it a lot. got to a point where it got boring though.

lol, my friend can do it in 1min 30s, after, he tried 4*4*4 ans solved it too. He asked to his girlfriend to buy him a 5*5*5 rubix cube but I never had news about that one. Between, its fun to see a video about it:

Sick :O

In tournaments, do you get like a cube that has been spun a certain number of times following some random random-algorithm, or is it like they just take a cube, spin it a couple of times, give it to you, and go "here, knock yourself out~"?

Wow Stini. That was mad fast. And it even looked like you got hung up at one point there. What place you get in the tourny with that time?

I was third, the placement is determined by the average time of 5 solves (though the best and the worst time aren't counted, so it's really the average of those three remaining solves). Anyway my average time in the final was 19.58 seconds, which was way slower than the first two competitors had (15-16 secs).

Yes, everyone has probably a sick dude on school who does that fast. I knew two though who could do it under a minute ez. I can proudly tell that I never completed a single cube, not even the 2 tile one. And yes, I tried! :lmao:

I solve the first two layers kind of freestyle, basically I combine Fridrich with block methods such as Petrus and improvise a little. The last layer is pretty standard Fridrich (OLL+PLL) which is 57+21 algorithms, although I know more than one algorithm for some cases (time well spent learning those, EYAH).
Memphis wrote:3rd jeeze. Was it the fastest one solve in the tourney though or did someone else do it quicker? And was it a tournament for best in Finland?
The best time in that tournament was 12.14. I'm not even close to the two fastest cubers in Finland, my best times are barely as good as their averages. And yes that was Finnish Championship tournament (last one was in the 80's).

Re: Hoyling of Rubic's Cube

Post by Stini »

Anyone still höyling this? I haven't practiced for a while and my times have stayed about the same. I have improved a bit on other official events though, such as big cubes and Megaminx. There is Finnish Championship tournament this month (29-30 August) but I don't really have high hopes since I'm maybe 6th fastest 3x3x3-solver in Finland nowadays, but I think I might have some chances in other events. I'm also going to World Championship tournament n Düsseldorf (9-11 October), not really to get success but more to feel the atmosphere and meet other cubers (perhaps kuskis as well? :)).
