2012 - 5/10

Overhyped CGI-demonstration lacking good plot. So much "Hollywood" it's ridiculous :/ I mean, they ALMOST fall down huge cracks, they ALMOST get hit by large chunks of rock, they ALMOST crash into Las Vegas-casinos, they ALMOST get squashed by a falling bridge, they ALMOST...... I could go on forever.

Well that builds up excitement atleast, I think you are a bit too harsh. I think it was a great movie and it's definately the greatest disaster movie of all time, i like those kind of movies very much though.

I'm not being harsh :x all of those sequences just made me bury head in hands and say to myself "nigga plz"... it was just so over the top it never got exciting. #Spoiler next# Like when they 3 times (might have been more (lost count)) just outran those seismic cracks. :S #END Spoiler# My vote is almost entirely based on CGI, as igge stated this is a movie you have to watch in cinema for the experience of watching buildings crumble to dust with higher volume and bigger screen than what you have at home. And the irregularity of the plot and the plot holes, for example #Spoiler next# when the arc got hit by that big-ass tsunami, imagine the force of all that mass hitting it. This resulted in a minor dent + a few running-from-water-scenes similar to Titanic (some angles were pretty much alike too). But when they approach Mt. Everest at what looked like about 1m/s by looking at their monitors (they showed a movement of 1852-1850m to impact during a few seconds long angle) it would "destroy the whole ship"... #END Spoiler# That is what I call Hollywood. Would have been so much more awesome if they at least had tried to keep it slightly realistic. But yeah, pretty wicked CGI and kudos to the vfx-studio who made it. CGI doesn't make a movie though.

why is it that every disaster movie to date has been terrible? well apart from the successful Titanic, which is arguable. it could be a nice genre if done properly.

what's everyone's expectations of Avatar? of course i hope its great, but i get the feeling i'm going to be disappointed. the dialect from the trailer isn't exactly great. nice to see an aussie as the main character.

The Chase (1994): 7.5/10
Jack Hammond is sentenced to life in prison, but manages to escape. To get away from the police he takes a girl as hostage and drives off in her car. One of those 90s action packed movies. Within 15 minutes in the movie, the car chase is on and it'll last until the end of the movie. What lies ahead is action, humor and romance. The movie never takes itself seriously and that's what makes it great in my opinion. Another thing that makes the movie so fun is the overacting of most actors (especially the policemen); everything is so over the top!

There are many fun appearances like Anthony and Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dr Gordon from Saw, Henry Rollins from the band Black Flag which only makes the movie more interesting. This is not an intellectual movie but it's awesome! If you like over the top movies like Desperado, you'll surely enjoy this one.

Fun Fact: Song by Alexisonfire named after the two main characters of this movie: Charlie Sheen vs Henry Rollins

And the dialogue sucked, they just repeated same shit over and over (I mean Edward and Bella). Ye first movie was better, I gave it a whopping 5/10. Don't understand what's so special about the whole saga, books might have been good but the movies are bad, yet teenage girls buy the whole package and worship it :x Im waiting (in vain most likely) for "Bert och badbrudarna - the movie", sach epic book.

kinda whats it's like in the books too, the dialogue gets a bit repetitive between Edward and Bella.

(500) Days of Summer - 6/10
Dame peer pressure-vote. Thought about putting 5/10 at first but then it had sach good rating so I increased rating to 6/10 thinking "it must be good, except i mustve missed it" :p I didn't see the chemistry here, Zooey is also a bad actor imo. She doesn't belong here, she should be an employee tired of christmas, like she was in Elf... her greatest role so far if u ask me (which is kinda sad on her behalf). I can't take her acting seriously and I dont find her character likeable in this movie. Ok, since I put 6/10 the movie must have been somewhat decent at least? Yep, I liked the photo and the general appearance of the film, and how they used splitscreens for both dramatic and comedic effects. It's a weak 6 though.

It's cool, but not really THAT awesome. Nice for a comedy, a genre that I usually don't really like that much anymore.

Tropic Thunder: 10/10 - 2/10

when i first started to watch this movie the starting trailers were really nice and humorous. and also during the first 5 mins into the actual movie i was really excited. it looked like it would be a really good war movie. 10/10
but when i found out it was a movie within a movie, and that what i just saw was meant to be a joke i was really disappointed. the rest of the movie was filled with crap that was supposedly meant to be "funny". 2/10 :(

btw, best scene was when ben stiller was running while being shot meany times. i loled irl.
i wish the whole movie would have been like that

i hated tom cruises' cameo in tropic thunder. sure, if i were 16 i would have laughed at his dance.

robert downey steals the show by far. some of his dialect is classic, especially towards stiller's character, and especially the conversation about going 'full retard'. jack black also had some nice lines as a withdrawling addict.

the commentry on the dvd was also great. stiller being himself, downey still in character, and jack black talking pretty much about anything apart the movie. was nice.

The Italian Job (1969) - 6/10
Heistmovie with humour. I bet you can still find scraps of metal in the alpslopes after this movie. Would've put a higher rating if the beginning and middle would've been more entertaining.

Ducktales the Movie - 5/10
Nostalgia didnt increase my vote. Have dloaded over 20 Disneymovies and this is the first one I saw out of those.

Troy: 7 / 10

I liked the action and the actors were good. The story is of course also good, Good old Homer! I like these ancient stories / myths and if I would rate the actual story written by Homer and not the movie the score would be higher.

Taking Woodstock - 8/10
Based on a book written by the real life version of the protagonist of this movie, in which he claims to be one of the people who made Woodstock happen. His actual involvement can be discussed (it seems he's taking a bit too much credit). Anyway, the movie is interesting as it follows the preparations of the festival seen from his perspective, helping out on his parents' shitty motel near the concert site. The movie captured the spirit pretty well I believe, good enough for me to think "damn I wouldve liked to be there" and to feel like doing LSD. Kinda missed some footage from the real festival put in the credits, it wouldve been coal and a nice finish to this well-worth-a-watch movie.

Beauty and the Beast - 7/10
I was surprised how much I liked this movie. Pretty basic fairytale story but great songs and nice animation.

Inglorious Basterds 10/10

Wow, This is the kind of movie that makes me wish I had given every other movie I saw a low score just so that this one would be even more significant! It was fantastic. The acting was so original and perfect, makes you wonder what the hell some actors are doing, and the camerawork was also great.
