Pride and Glory - 8/10
2nd time in a row I've watched an awesome movie, this time about a net of dirty policemen.

Unstoppable - 5/10
Strong 5. Pretty decent, although easy to watch, action/thriller. However, I thought the half-a-mile train was pretty short, the 60+mph speed was pretty slow, some people acted really stupid and together with a few other minor distractions it lowered my rating from a 6.

Shutter Island - 7/10
kinda good movie, but there were some things that annoyed me... i admit that i just didnt get some details, probably would need a rewatch to get more, but orka, definitely didnt amaze me
also reviewed a few of my votes making myself a list of points and descriptions - how good/bad a movie has to be to get certain amount of points, cuz without it the votes were very subjective :D

I rarely watch movies and don't know much about IMDB, but I've seen only 2 movies in the past couple of weeks and both had a scene where someone hung from intestines. Død snø and Machete. Both were really fun movies. :)
then again i don't know anything
maybe easier not to think abouut alöl things thought than not things thought ... or something..=?

objective relatively to others Jappe... i meant that during watching a movie ive had a good mood so gave some 9, during another i was pissed off at sth so gave 7. now with a list of kinda 9 - very awesome, 4 - a bit annoying/bad, 1 - coplete piece of shit etc i can place a movie into one of those precisely ^^

Ip Man (2008) : 9/10 (Spoiler-free trailer)
A semi-biographical account of Yip Man, the first martial arts master to teach the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun. I love me some martial arts flick. I love me some guys getting their asses kicked by rapid punches and swift kicks. I love me some elaborate combat choreographies involving scenery and objects cleverly used as weapons. I also love me some violence, the raw brutality that combat actually is and the more-or-less realistic portrayal of a fight including its bloody and not so glorious aftermath. But you know what I love me the most? Story. Emotion. Character development. And this is exactly what was displayed to me in this fantastical movie in addition to everything mentionned beforehand. This movie is not about the fights, it's about the fighter, the man behind the fighter and everything he stands for. In addition to making the movie that much more interesting, this narrative makes the combat scenes more intense and more gripping. A truly exquisite martial arts film.

Cassandra's Dream - 7/10
McGregor pulled it to 7. damn, i love him in the ungay way, he's probably my favourite actor, top3 for sure

edit: ok, maybe i was a bit too harsh on this one.. probably mostly because i was expecting a comedy havent had read anything about this film beforehand. i think 8 would be a tiny bit too much, but shouldve gotten sth like 7.5. some really good things coming from Allen's experience in it, like not showing events not necessary to be shown. only the very end pissed me off, the fortuity and stupidity... if McGregor didn't die in such a foolish way (die? hell, he felt on his back on some wooden boards, lethal??), the movie would get an 8

I only put 8/10 myself but it was a really pleasant surprise, especially since I had read about it just a few hours before actually watching it. Didn't know what to expect at all. I can do nothing but recommend it to others!

The Shawshank Redemption - 9/10
absolutely amazing, though I was not blown away as much as with The Pursuit of Happyness. still, was hesitating between 9 and 10 for quite a while, just decided that it aint fit the category "lifechanging" :P
beautiful soundtrack too, it must get into my hands

The Graduate - 8/10
was a tiny bit monotonous in the beginning, but later on got quite lolgy :DD also the actors were awesome... hell, another great movie for the spree! :D

and guys, dont think that i love every single movie that i watch, just now, that i have the imdb account i want to rewatch all the most awesome movies i remember (or watch the most awesome movies ive heard of that are by my hand) and rate them. soon ill be back in watching shit movies so illl be giving some lower rates then 8D

Pawq, you gotta watch shit movies once in a while to really appreciate the good ones.

Nightbreed - 3/10
Could as well have put a generous 4. It was not as bad as I originally thought but it's just a one-time-watch B-movie imo.

Hoodwinked! - 6/10
Now this was a surprise. Looked kinda corny, seemed kinda corny but a friend said she thought I'd like it. Pretty funny actually. Remember that hyperspeed squirrel from Over the Hedge? He's a straight up rip-off of the squirrel in this one. Lots of cultural references and a bunch of nice laughs.

Paranormal Activity 2 - 7/10
The rating is based on my first viewing experience. Like most horror movies the first time is the charm. The movie might not have been THAT good but damn, some scenes fukked me up! Compare it to my 6/10 on PA1. This was more intense. Of course the venue was changed too. We watched PA1 at home and PA2 in the theatre. One of the few horror movies I've seen that actually scared me. Psychological horror ftw.

Pretty blah. I actually had higher expectations, I thought it would at least be worth a 5/10. But basically it's cheesy gore scenes and bad dialogue mixed with some 3D soft porn (or smth like that). One dude's last words are "Wet t-shirt..."... It's on that level.

A little catch up

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt1: 8/10

Found this a huge improvement on the previous Harry Potter, they added in a good amount of love/romance/drama but didn't go utterly overboard with it. This movie was thoroughly entertaining enough to keep me wanting more after a hefty 2 hours 26 min running time, which is impressive. To be honest, this movie was so actionpacked it was crazy, so much happened, in fact i would suggest it could be split into 3 movies. End was good, although it was, it doesn't come across as clichè so that's another +1 for the directors.

I think the reason i found it good was how well it immersed you into the story, which is not common. This, of course, is partially due to the books being so well written. -4 points for trying for the first cheap scare, 2 points for trying for the second cheap scare and pulling it off.

Easy A: 8/10

This was a great movie, given i wasn't expecting to like it. Emma Stone's acting was brilliant and the movie was hilariously funny. As Kopaka said, not many movies set at high school are actually any good nowadays, but this went above and beyond my expectations. Interesting premise, worked well.

WALL-E: 9/10

Very cute, heartfelt movie. The two primary characters were both awesome. The storyline is nice and just in general a really, really good movie. Kinda funny how the animated movie's tend to do a few things.

A) Be better than filmed movies.
B) Have a character that i REALLY like (Eve)
C) Not have a characteristic that lets them down.

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale 8/10

There has been a big buzz around this flick so had to see it. Indeed, it was entertaining and humorous, with a nice bit of seriousness to it.
A great different kind of story about Santa.
Anyway, what annoyed me, was the kid actors. They were terribad, and I felt like shooting myself every time they (espesially Juuso) were on screen. Also, the movie wasn't quite what one would expect after seeing the short films it's is based on.

maybe spoiler
ps. hundreds of dirty old naked bearded men roaming in the snow is a beautiful sight

Somewhere - 6/10
Pretty far from the brilliance of Lost in Translation, which is the only Sofia Coppola I've seen, but I could still get some sort of Coppola vibe reaching through. There were many long shots like following cars, zooming out characters, zooming in characters, a car driving round and round a desert race track (opening scene). The movie felt longer than it really was, but I still kind of liked it.

The Lovely Bones (2009): 7/10
Death is a very personal matter and is all too rarely treated in Hollywood (The Sixth Sense, The Frighteners also by Peter Jackson). Pedophilia is also one of those subjects that don't get much theater time; I mean, it's not fun! It ain't Die Hard fun, it ain't Indiana Jones fun and it sure ain't Transformers fun. It's more like The Pianist fun.

The Lovely Bones is quite indeed a lovely film. The protagonist, Suzy Salmon, is surely one of the most adorable teenager I've seen in a long time, be it in real life or on the screen, while Marky Mark does a very good job in the portrayal of a broken father. My least favorite character was the grandma, played by Susan Sarandon, who assumed the (often annoying) role of the comedic/emotional relief though, in a way, thank God she was there otherwise the film could have been downright depressing.

I won't go into the story because the trailer does a perfect job at ruining 85% of the movie but I'll say that Peter Jackson loves to use visual effects and metaphors. Some might say that he overdoes it but the way I see it, he conveys emotions that are hard to express with actors and which come out even more powerful.

All-in-all, a very solid film.
