Due Date: 4/10

Started really nice, turned into a lame fest of awkward jokes and masturbating dogs. Not hot at all.

Océans - 9/10
I had no idea what to expect, actually didn't even know if it was a documentary or not. Anyway, I was moved and so was the others in the theatre. I heard sobbing and even shed a tear myself. Great angles, beautiful and powerful shots. At times laugh-out-loud funny. Rollercoaster ride of a documentary.

Powder Blue (2009) - 3/10
Yes, it was a bad movie. I have seen really good, moving dramas, but this was not the one. Let's start from the fact, that movies without music are like women without breasts, at least from my point of view. I hate movies without soundtracks, and this piece had only around 10 minutes of soundtrack. That, solely, made the film boring (maybe because of the time and my tiredness). Also what annoyed me pretty much, is that a series of unnatural coincidences lead to a very surprising, potentially happy end. Only Jessica Biel has a very nice ass, which was explicitly shown in the movie.

I, Robot (2004) - 10/10
Simply, completely, out of this world. Amazing! Well-deserved 10. Thrilling plot (though that is in the favour of Isaac Asimov), mouth-watering special effects, incredible robot fights, beautiful views, perfect Will Smith, stunning music... Pure masterpiece!
I gotta read Asimov's sci-fi stories...

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005): 9/10

I'll preface my opinion by explicitly stating that I am fully aware of how hypocritical, contradictory and ironical it is.

As much as I'd love to see more unconventional movies as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang being produced, I am content with the rarity of these films which makes them all the more interesting to discover. Robert Downey Jr probably offers the best narration in a movie since Kevin Spacey's Verbal in The Usual Suspects while he delievers, in my opinion, the best performance so far in his career (though his role in Tropic Thunder was very impressive). His co-lead, Val Kilmer, is also off the fucking chain. Even though it's made pretty clear that his character is gay, Kilmer does an amazing job at oozing homosexuality without going all-out fag. The storyline is purposely over-complicated, the characters are tremendously interesting and the humor is right on point. Seriously, the movie got released barely 5 years ago and I have no clue why I can't recall seeing any publicity for this film.

Oh, and I also fell in love with Michelle Monaghan.

I think the jury likes character arcs. The stronger the better in terms of Golden Globes. But then of course Zuckerberg was still a douche at the end of The Social Network... Hmm...

The Village - 5/10
Nothing like I expected (I expected horror). It was OK.

Enter The Void (2009) : 9/10
ENTER the mind of a drug-induced dealer on the last day of his life. But first, enter my mind going to see this movie on the big screen. I am not what you would call a man who runs on instincts, I am more inclined on the side of logic. I think things out, I over-analyze the most trivial of activities and I triple-check my bags before I leave for vacations. This state of mind has led me to suffer panic attacks a bit earlier in my life. These very attacks have forced me to reconnect with my inner self to be able to control them. This might have helped me develop my sensibility even though my previously described over-analytic behavior often takes over. Movies are one of the rare things in life where the emotional side of my brain usually manages to take over when I can actually push the critic in me away from myself.

So, I went to the theater with my friends to see the film on the big screen. Well, theater might be inaccurate as it was one room amidst a video store. Anyway, the opening credits were explicit enough as to what was to be expected from the movie; something visually intense, something quite different from anything we'd ever seen. As soon as the movie began, I felt a slight discomfort regarding the point-of-view of the film (first-person) which, as I suspected, lasted the whole movie (except for some third-person view during flashbacks). I was having a hard-time with the overhead view until I successfully let go of the analytical me and embraced my emotional self. And this is when I went from appreciating the movie to enjoying the movie. This film is all about feelings, it is neither a thorough analysis of the meaning of life nor is it a philosophical interpretation of the afterlife. It's the long, tedious, graphical, painful yet enjoyable journey of living. It's the grim uncertainty of what dying is. It's a tale of life and death. And of course it's long. It's so long some people will find it hard to take, some people will quit before it ends but when you'll expect it the least, it will strike you hard. And then, nothingness. And then, THE VOID.

Toy Story 3 (2010) - 5/10
Huge and very sad disappointment :( Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were probably my favourite animated films in my early childhood, seen them millions of times and I was amazed. This one was just bad! Bad bad bad damn it!!! :( Boring, annoying, totally old!! I am so very highly disappointed :( Gotta rewatch the first two ones soon, I'm sure I'll still love them :) Those fresh ideas and amazing adventures :)
Buzz Astral and Jessie? Buzz speaking Spanish? Dancing all around? What the fuuuuuck!!! They've spoiled the whole idea ;( As high as 5 for bringing back the chilling memories of the first parts :)

I found Toy Story 3 was very good, and had more "mature" content. That buzz in spanish was quite funny but how many of us wanted Woody to end up with Jessie? (Actually I wanted to end up with Jessie)

Anyway it was very good, maybe you were just expecting something precise and didn't get it.
