And that's when john made his first public performance, by standing up during the show and yelling "stfu!!1 not funny! double dot opening parenthesis.."

Sunshine - 5/10
was kind of split into two halves, and part of the 2nd half was a bit stupid. nice effects though.

3:10 to Yuma - 7/10
very strong 7, close to 8. seen it a couple times now, rewatched it a couple of days ago. great ending.

We Own the Night - 5/10
was alright. nothing really original.

i see a couple people liked The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. May i ask why? John? Although it was somewhat curious, i think it went a bit too long and the overall message wasn't that original. Though, i did watch it late at night after a couple of beers. No doubt that the make-up was great.

so, who watched the oscars? worthy winners? who missed out? do you think heath deserved it?

I watched oscars yes, most of the movies nominated I haven't seen (yet) so its hard to say if it's deserved, but even if I had seen them it would probably look very different if it were up to me. (btw I made my own personal oscars in this blog entry)

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button - 7/10 - overrated imo. had its moments but overall felt boring and too much like a mix of The Notebook and Forrest Gump.
Yes Man - 9/10 - though Jim Carrey was much predictable, loved it thoroughly and could much relate to it.
Citizen Kane - 7/10 - great directing but overall boring.
Casablanca - 8/10 - almost fell asleep during it, might rewatch. but the acting seemed amazing.
Goodfellas - 9/10 - well, just awesome
Once Upon A Time In The West - 9/10 - well, just awesome
Schindler's List - 10/10 - well, wow
The Pianist - 9/10 - well, just awesome

spent the week filling some gaps in my imdb top250 watched list.

Crash 5/10
Had a nice pace, and dialog ect. However really pointless story.

Sex and Death 101 8/10
At first I disliked the narrative way it was made, but later into it, it really got good

Young People Fucking 5/10
No real story, and the five different "stories" didn't have anything to do with each other at all, but still somewhat interesting

watched Yes Man today.

tis tru, i managed to watch it all the way through. I didnt like the movie, it was the usual shit all the way, most of the cast were utter crap, jim carrey was good though, as usual. But Yes Man isn't top5 of his movies, nor even top10. Probably the character's fault, carl was just a very boring one and mr carrey couldn't make it neither enough interesting or funny. the little love story was cute and sach but seen the same 100 times anyway, I didnt expect any romance or watefak it's called because only genre mentioned on imdb was comedy. The whole point of the movie, saying yes to opportunities, live your life etc etc was quite interesting. JUST like xarthok said, could relate to it, as we n0lifors live in a box. Don't think it changed my life anyway :P. Jim Carrey made me laugh several times, anyway. And laugh is never a bad thing, is it

Enemy at the Gates - 7/10
A weak 7. Once again I got the same feeling as I did while watching Hunt for Red October, there's quite nice action, scenes etc. However, I'd say everything is too Hollywoodiated and I would have preferred to see some unknown names in the leading roles in this one.

Malèna - 6/10
Promising beginning, a great mix of drama and comical parts but then I found it too much of the same kind of scenes. Well deserved Oscar-nomination for best cinematography tho, was beautiful. Ennio Morricones music blended in too well, didn't think of it.

I watched Twilight today with a few friends, most of them were girls yes :P. It was quite good. Not really what I had expected of the movie.. but I guess also the reason I found it good was the people I watched it with :P bet if I saw it alone it would have been boring.
I'm not good with those numbers but Ill give it some 7-7.5/10.

And then we come to FarCry... I found out yesterday that there was made an adaption of the video game so I had to get teh.. but wtf.. I have now watched 50 minutes of the movie and it simply get's worse and worse.. lol uber lame shit movie with shit actors and worse soundtrack.
Even though it is uber crap it is still not one of those "So bad it's good movie" unfortunately
2.5/10 at the most

No I haven't.. but I can imagine the books being better than the movie (so far only one movie made). more or less always like this ain't it?
It really is a Drama-Romance with some Thrills movie :P.. I'd group it as a teenage movie more than a.. what I call.. a Mother movie.
I don't want to reveal anything. Just go watch teh you won't die=)

Zombi 2: 7/10

Was a very good classic zombie movie. Extremely slow zombies, much gore, some very notable scenes (zombie vs shark, shard of wood through eye, etc), few naked girls, good bad-acting. Everything i want in a 70s horror movie.

From dusk till dawn: 9/10

I like horror movies. I like comedy. I loved this movie. The beginning of the movie (maybe 45 minutes or more) is very Tarantino-esque. Almost Pulp Fiction-esque. But when Clooney and Tarantino reach the Titty Twister, all hell breaks loose and the movie becomes one hell of a humorous bloodfest. And adding the ridiculously great cast (George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Salma Hayek, Dany Trejo, Tom Savini and Cheech Marin (who played 3 different characters in the movie, which i found hilarious), this movie really made my evening!

Australia - 6/10
Was an enjoyable film although it was quite long (2h 34m), but at the same time it didn't make me look at the clock even once. A bit predictable, a bit crappy CGI and a bit too much plastic in Kidman's face which all lowered my rating slightly (the most memorable character in this movie is Nullah). Worth one watch at least.

officially the highest rating of that movie ever.

most Australians are embaressed of it.

no movie titled Australia should have an aboriginal in it.

Obviously not the highest since it has a weighted average of 7.0 on IMDb.

Why no aboriginals in a movie called Australia? If there's anyone who should be in a movie called Australia it's aboriginals.

you are right, John. i had an argument with a friend who believed he was more australian than an aboriginal. it's funny how most people who call themselves australians hate aboriginals and are against immigration.

i haven't seen the movie, and i am not in a hurry to aswell. i believe its the 2nd biggest grosing australian movie after madmax (not fully sure though). I like Hugh Jackman, seems like a really decent intelligent man. For some reason, along with alot of other aussies, i don't really like Nicole Kidman, even though i bet she too would be a very decent person, and even donated alot towards the bushfires. she does look veryfake, and i don't see her as a good actress.

because aboriginals are cliched, a lot of overseas people see australians as bush dwellers who ride in kangaroo's pouches and have a huge accent and say 'crikey' a lot.

the truth is, Australia is very similar to california.

just more trees.
