Im nat going into all that political stuff u wrote cuz i just simply nat have the knowledge or interest. As for the driver nat being able to maneuver away from the girl without flipping the ambulance was becuz he just didnt have eyes on the road at that moment, the president made a struggle in the back and the girl appeared from nowhere. The reason he just couldnt run her over was prolly becuz the last thing he wanted was to attract attention as an ambulance hitting a little girl in full speed and nat stopping. Makes sense to me.

watched a few movies:
Die Fälscher http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0813547/ 8/10 - quite ok, i think it's the first german movie about the nazis that i've seen; edit: just read a bit about it, mea culpa, it's an austrian movie
The Children of Huang Shi http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0889588/ 5/10 - gotta appreciate this kind of sacrifice, but this is just not a movie for me...
21 Grams - 6/10 - had expected more from the one who made Amores Perros, but, again, all these moral issues are a little too far fetched and 'remade'
rewatched Filantropica http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0314067/ - 10/10 now (probably more like 9,47/10, but gotta be subjective on this :) ), marvelous movie, marvelous story&acting... eveything; it might be though a bit harder for those not living in excommunist/poor countries...

The Dark Knight - 7/10 (The Joker 10/10 ;p )
Should have watched Batman Begins prior to TDK to refresh my memory. Might watch this movie again after rewatched BB and possibly my rating will change a bit.

Seen 2 new movies today.

Get Smart - Was supposed to see X-files in cinema but it stopped playing here just few days ago it seems (was still running Wednesday), so we went to the premiere of Get Smart. It had a few funny scenes but the movie itself didnt work for me, only 4/10 there.

Grave of the Fireflies - Was in moviemood when came home so I put on Grave of the Fireflies which Boomer had recommended me to see. Im gonna recommend it further - 8/10.

A wonderful film with Tom Cruise. He's an amazing actor.

Tropic Thunder - 6/10
I was dragged to the theatre but was positively surprised. Many scenes are simply put hilarious but I felt that when it was time to tie the movie together towards the end it lost much of the funnyness. Btw the trailer for Will Ferrell's new movie was pretty funny too so I might go see teh even tho Talladega Nights and Blades of Glory were quite painful to see through. ;(

waaaay overrated movie it is yes
Top3 of all time? Hardly think so. One of the best super hero-movies possibly.
(oo just checked imdb and it has now dropped to 4th place o/ )

I forgot to mention I watched Lady Vengeance in-between Tropic Thunder and The Fountain. Was quite a nice movie (showing also maby the worst male hairstyle ever).
6/10, the bad hairstyle didn't have any impact on my voting.

saw a couple of movies in the last couple of weeks:

Step Brothers 5/10
was alright, nothing special. usual will ferrel movie with some silly funny bits. shit ending.

Make It Happen 1/10
wow. what a waste of time this was. only reason why me and the girlfriend saw this crap was because she had free movie tickets that were going to expire. neither of us wanted to see it, but because of me making us late for WALL-E, she punished me by making me see it - and what a punishment it was. Usual dance type movie where a country girl tries to make it in the city. That's it. Nothing really happened in this movie, and then all of a sudden they must of thought: "hey! we better wrap this up!".

I'll never be late for another movie again.

Felon - 9/10
I feel I might have overrated it a bit since it felt kinda shallow, short and quite predictable. Anyway, I enjoyed the movie for what it was. I wasn't looking for a deep drama you need multiple viewings to understand.
Solid performances and an intriguing storyline was what I was after tonight and that was what I got. :)

I went to watch the first ep of Generation Kill tonight at a friend's place, it was quite a nice show. When the ep ended however, he insisted we should watch Postal (altho he had seen it already). I hesitated but didnt whane be the grumpy dude leaving my friends behind. Sat through whole Postal and dame... Had maby a handful of "heah"-moments, otherwise prolly the worst shit since Epic Movie. 1/10

dame this is scary
This friday I watched Quantum of Solace - 6/10
Earlier today I watched Zeitgeist - 6/10
Just now I watched The Omen (1976) - 6/10

...so what does that give? 666 ;(

Luckily I kinda broke the chain of sixes last night by raising LOTR Return of the King and Two Towers, both to 9's. Have been watching extended versions the last weekends. So now the whole trilogy has one 9/10 each.

edit: dame turn my LOTR-ratings upside down... now scary for real ;o

i rewatched the lotr trilogy a few weeks ago (extended versions), and although i think they are great (8/10s, first one is probably the better one), i do think that they could have been a bit better. Gandalf just didn't do enough for me magic wise, same with saruman, and i was disappointed that they never had a "l33t" scene against each other. the girl killing the rider was ridiculous too.

and yes, the departed is great. leonardo was great, along with the whole cast.

speaking of leo, i rewatched What's Eating Gilbert Grape last night for the 20th time. great movie which i'm sure most people have already seen. 8/10

I thought about lotr few days ago, and thought about the ending where the eagles come and save the hobbits from Mount Mordor, or what it was called. Well, now look at it like this: If the eagles could fly in there and save them from the exploding volcano, and burning hot lava, without getting noticed by Saruman, then why couldn't the eagles just fly the hobbits to the mountain straight away? :P Just a funny goof i though about.

of course it's all about the quest and development of the characters, but still.. =)

they couldn't. one of 2 things imo:

A - sending the eagles in to save them was a massive risk taken just to save their lives and was just lucky that the massive dragon things (forgot teh name, riders i think it was) weren't there to pwn them.

B - Sauron's eye cannot see anymores because the ring has been destroyed at this point, and also Saruman (the white wizard?) was the owner of isengard (right?) and isengard got pwned by the ents already.

of course this is all based on me remembering shit from years ago xD

Saruman was already dead at that point and the ring was destroyed along with Sauron. Also after seeing the battle at the Black Gate when all the "bad guys" fall down those cracks it seems like basically all evil from Mordor is destroyed along with the ring.

And the reason for not flying with the eagles into Mordor right away is, I guess, because the ring wanted to get back to its master so it would ez say "hey, here I come, skicka some nazgûls on these noobs and take me back".
