teh summary: mercedes engines ftw o,o sik strategy from rosberg, he even could do that damn pitstop, but didn't need to because still had the pace :D seems mercedes has finally learned to take care of the tyres) pretty cool speed from mclaren, faster than rbr throughout the race. kimi a bit watefak, 2nd near the end -> 14 :<< williams sick so far, so huge difference compared to last year! great pace! they kinda switched with TR, those slowest of the midfield now :D too bad perez was so owned :/ ferrari boryng
overall watefak midfield o,o i remember some 10 cars within 7 seconds at like 40th lap, with no safety car :D generally confirms my earlier thoughts, mercedes a frontrunner now along mclaren and rbr, ferrari down to the higher midfield together with sauber, williams and lotus, force india down to lower midfield together with toro rosso and back of the peck still the same :( im really annoyed by those backrunners, they are practically a different class, racing their own races :/
and too bad schumi was faked up, could've been even more thrilling, though he was being caught already, unlike rosberg. ffffffuuuu for button wheel too ;(
now a week and bahrain strikes for the first time in 2,5 years! yeah o/ so can't wait

also im very glad that dif. people take the top positions all the time, so far on podium button 2 times, hamilton 3 times (3x3 xd), vettel alonso perez rosberg 1 time, so tight championship too so far... tightest season opener in a while! o,o

7 drivers is most?

I agree that Mercedes was car to beat that day. I don't think Button was able to effectively challenge Nico, even with proper 3rd pitstop. He would have been stuck behind other 2 stoppers like Vettel anyway. Maybe in theory Button had better strategy, but team must consider traffic. Similarly Lotus screwed Kimi strategy when first stop was too early and during second he was stuck behind Massa.

most of the top finishers, top2-4 ;)
I agree that Button probably wouldn't be able to challenge Nico for win, but the thing about traffic is untrue. Had he had a proper pitstop he would come out ahead of the peck, back to P2, and would be able to speed up a lot. Probably not able to catch up anyway but still, traffic came up as a huge surprise - he lost around 6 seconds in there :/

About traffic I meant theoretical time to complete race distance without traffic versus reality. I can't access lap chart on FIA site now, but from what I remember Button was put into traffic after earlier pitstops anyway. Maybe after his last stop he would have been in clean air, but still with only remote chance to challenge Nico. More stops is always risky strategy.

Button would still have been released into traffic. He may have been one or two cars better off, but he still would have had cars in the way.

Also it's kinda remarkable that all the different winners come from different teams. Even more crazy it was in 1982, when nobody won more than 2 races and last 5 races were won by 5 different drivers from different teams. And if you continue that row to 1983 that makes rows of 7 different teams and 8 different drivers! Maybe there does exist even longer rows, dunno.

Things went upside down and with quite big time differences all of a sudden. Rosberg 5th position, 55secs from lead. So is it RB vs Lotus for hot/dry weather?

In 2009 from Turkish GP to Spa there were 6 different winners. Despite that 2009 was pretty boring.

Anyway Kimi and Grosjean showed that Lotus has serious race pace and maybe Kimi can be serious WDC contender. After 4 races I still fail to judge which teams and drivers will fight for championship. If the trend continues this can be one of the best seasons I've ever seen so far. :D

Was cheering Kimi on, disappointed he didn't make it, but i guess it shows he's still a beast. :P

Webber/Hamilton second and third in championship with no wins atm, Kind of interesting start to the season.

Laps did run out for Kimi. :( It was his own fault too because of his error in the quali which did cost him the pole position. But as he didn't win I'm very happy that the victory went to Maldonado and Williams.

first time ive watched a race this year, was worth it
pretty interesting race, especially last 2x laps, after Maldonado changed tires for the last time.
was cool how Alonso kept catching him at the startline and losing it all later
cheered Maldonado a lot, was really happy to see Alonso slowing down at last 7 laps. wouldve been even cooler if Raikkonen managed to overtake fernando.
max nice, gratz McDonaldo!
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

just laughed so much about lotus radio: "we will get them in the last lap." :) they really thought that Pastor and Fernando will go pit 4 times :D :D. was very nice non-boring race. really liked, even more that Pastor won, which makes the him the 5th different winner in 5 races in this year.. :)

Teams often tell BS to their drivers via radio.

I'm very happy to see Williams winning

5 races 5 different teams win. Lotus win in Monaco?

Hamilton,Webber and Kimi are my favorites for the win at Monaco.

Other Monaco specialists are Alonso, Maldonado and Rosberg. I'm not sure about Vettel and Grosjean, but they are in fast cars. Schumacher is past his prime, however he has the most wins there.

Yeah those three (HAM, WEB, RAI) best racers i ever saw at Monaco. Schumi up there too but he needs to connect with his car (not other peoples.)

There is about 2 places on the track that make sense to overtake, there is a tunnel (rapid changes in light) that if there's a crash inside, red flags the race automatically. Blue Flags are barely effective because less spots for the backmarkers to get out of the way, DRS is useless because there's effectively no straight. The last turn is extremely dangerous because it requires you to virtually go mm from a barrier that if you hit at speed is a) red flag instantly and b) almost certain death.

I could probably keep going.

Are you aware of fact that in 2011 there was just one more overtake in Albert Park than in Monaco? 16 vs 17? And last fatality in F1 happened during 2001 Australian GP when track marshal was killed. Last fatality in Monaco happened more than 40 years ago. Monaco isn't the safest track in the world, but it isn't as bad as you want to describe it.

Heh yea, I was going to mention the same thing Chris :D Monaco seems to be so freaking dangerous, but aren't all the tracks? Guise have 3 times smaller speed at Monaco and yea, have you seen any fatal accident? ;) Drivers are aware of the risk too. FFS, they are the best drivers in the world, their lives are based on risk, so if they enjoy Monaco, we should enjoy it twice as much! And who said lack of overtaking makes a circuit bad? It's just a matter of opinion, it's not a secret that Monaco is one of the F1 world's favourite circuits, I don't think any other race is as exciting for me ;)

monaco is circuit made in only one purpose: to make fun to rich ppl living there. it´s city circuit, which means it is on norm roads, just barriers are added, so it is very, VERY narrow, too many hard turns, no straight lane, very hard overtaking, simply, the most boring race in whole F1, because it´s simply BAD circuit. I find it like this.

basing on...?

I never said Albert Park was a good circuit, it's also a classical/pretty circuit (and it's pretty fucking great looking to be there.)

regarding accidents: Of the last ~6 or so serious accidents, i can think of quite many of them being at monaco. Perez' nearly killed himself last year, Sutil trying to take off Schumi's head the year before, Webber's field trip through the air and Raikkonen's crash in the tunnel (07?)

The other two are Kubica in canada and massa getting hit in head by barrichello.

Webber's field trip through the air happened in Valencia, as far as I remember. It wasn't a serious accident too.
