New Year's Resolutions (2014)

Post by 8-ball »

1. Improve my appearance and health:
1.1 Stick to the diet and exercising regime I've planned out and bulk the fuck up
1.2 Get eye surgery done in Jan/Feb
1.3 Get major dental work done
2. Learn at least a dozen songs on guitar
3. Get really sick skills at spinning poi
4. Solve Rubik's cube under 1 min
5. Find 2 awesome new flatmates
6. Score high enough in studies to keep getting my scholarship all the way through
7. Visit at least 2 new countries
8. Do not commit to playing any computer games
9. Win that one girl's heart
10. Cross off at least 20 books off my to-read list on Goodreads

1. Write at least 6 commissions.
2. Get in contact with Mannheim and Malaysian youth orchestras and compose for them.
3. Start Masters degree/PhD depending on re-marked thesis.
4. Start making more contacts in the classical music industry/audio-visual industry.
5. Make a super level pack.
6. Write about the elements of Elma level composition, and the inherent objective nature of it.
7. Secure a composition spot for the 2015 Orchestral tour. (I hope we can visit Scandinavia... :D )
8. Co-write an album of film-trailer music.

There are probably a few more things I want to stick on there, but I am really keen to actually do these. :)

  1. One drawing a day. Same one as last year. Hopefully nothing prevents me from drawing again,
  2. Continue workouts. Bulk the fuck up,
  3. Do something new/different (something that's unlike me to do),
  4. Stop being lazy,
  5. Elma Related: Make and release level pack, then make movie for it.

haha, everyone wants to bulk up it seems this coming year. Previously was benching 8 reps at 225lbs (4 x 45lbs plates). Got a bit of a wrist injury I think more from wcup than weight lifting. Dropped down to 205lbs but will try to get it back up now that wcup is over.

Going strong so far. Didn't drink any sugared soda (nor Coke light or such) for a month and some days. My only wrongdoing was adding Coke to rum this saturday, after I run out of all apple juice (good juice combination, give it a try), but there was still plenty of rum. Nevertheless it ain't stoppin' me from my goal to stop drinking sodas!

It wasn't a resolution but I have quit drinking caffeinated drinks and sodas. Milk and water is all I need now.

i must drink like 3 sodas a year max.. mostly because i just think "whats the point in paying £1 for a drink when i can just get water for free? is the taste really worth it?" only time i ever get it is in some KFCdonalds box meal but i hardly ever buy those. its like a million pounds for 2 pieces of chicken and 1 chip with a 42069 litre bottle of coke

i made one to GET BUFF. going pretty well tbh, not so much of a muscleless skinny whiteboi anymore. i actually think muscles are kinda ugly and useless in modern life apart from hauling things but im pretty sure that the general consensus between girls is "i like my men to GET BUFF"

<Pawq> at a gym you have only 3 options: 1. have your eyes closed, 2. stare at yourself, 3. stare at others, all of which are either super boring or disgusting

Like Lee, I make half-year progress report:

1. Written 4 commissions so far. :D One more confirmed, another one possible, so this has hope!
2. I did get in contact with MYPO, and they said I might have short notice to compose a percussion concerto, but they did not follow up, so it did not happen.
3. I have started my PhD now, just got inducted today and recieved my first e-mails etc. Exciting! 8)
4. PhD should help open up more contacts for me, although I have networked with two new orchestras this year which are keen to commission me. One of the ensembles I joined won a national competition! :)
5. Have not made any nice levels at all this year, a shame really as I look back at old levels and their potential. I need to fix this.
6. Still want to do, but maybe it was a pipe dream. :')
7. Unsure if 2015 Orchestral tour or 2017, might be the latter.
8. Plans changed, and seems not enough time to do this atm.

So far I have still not eaten any broccoli. However I was close when my room mate made a pasta with little chunks of broccoli in it. She told me she thought my resolution was stupid and I told her that she was right.
