I can say with a fair degree of confidence that that's exactly what's happening in the UK when it comes to people's obesity, not idiocy. British people are so maniacal about tolerance and so keen on approving everything, that they'll gladly tell the fattest and ugliest person in the world that he or she is beautiful. It may seem like a good thing at first, but aside from unsightly expressions of falsly boosted egos (mainly obese girls dressing very inappropriately - e.g. wearing corsets or tight tops which even exaggerate their corpulence), this leads to a very grave problem - a striking proportion of the population is now simply obese, but the awareness is minimal. This has all its natural, typical consequences, heart diseases among them...

As for the idiocy quote, I think it has a very valid point. Not only in small communities, such as elma, but even on a global scale. Things that celebrities and role models do for fun, for laughs, or out of sarcastic incentives may be easily misunderstood and misread by children or adults simply unable to process humour. This may then lead to those people taking patterns and making fools of themselves, possibly even to the applause of their peers.

I'm not sure about the possible extent of this phenomenon though. What are your thoughts Lousku?

I don't think Elma sceners are pretending to be idiots, mostly just writing like ones. That still might be enough to lure the dumb ones, like we still have gotten Pawq, Ville_J etc. to join the community

When asked what kind of people play elma once I told a friend that its "Mostly programmers, rubics cubers, chess players and some people are music composers/instrumentalists or whatever and many people are interested in snooker for some unexplicable reason or other obscure sports that you may not have heard about like online minigolf or some shit." Okay so in reality maybe there are only specific cases for each of those categories and very broad possibly slightly inaccurate generalisation overall. Still I dont think this gave him the impression that mostly "idiots" roam within this community.

Elma writing style has defined the community for 10 years - it's not so much idiocy. Recent styles like the whole hongy stuff is slightly stupider i guess. Everyone say runkka for some time too but that is gone now.
