I really hope Mad Max: Fury Road doesn't win the Motion Picture award. I find it weird that Creed didn't get a nomination for the Motion Picture and I really hope that Sylvester Stallone wins the Supporting Role award. I think it was a powerful performance.
I haven't seen The Revenant yet but I assume Leonardo did a great job. Even the trailers were stunning. Other great candidate for the lead actor is Matt Damon from his unexpectedly funny performance in The Martian.
Star Wars deserves awards for the mixing and editing. I really hope Mad Max doesn't steal them all which is a quite likely thing to happen.

I find it hilarious that the Martian was classified as a comedy.

Will definitely watch the awards ceremony as always. I'm rooting for Leo but I haven't seen his movie yet. Also rooting for Alicia Vikander ofc, first swedish actress nominated since 1990 or so. Will try to watch more of the nominated movies before the show. Carol, The Revenant, The Big Short, Joy, Creed, The Hateful Eight should be ez possible to see before the show for me.

I'm very curious about the movies that aren't entering the cinemas yet (or ever), because they are film festival stuff. Some of them wil appear in March, or even in April in our cinemas. But I advise you to watch Revenant and Hateful Eight, I'd like to know your opinion on them. I still haven't watched all Oscar holders from previous years, so I'd need to fix that asap..

Concerning my favorites, this is my guesses:

Movie: Revenant or Martian (didn't see Room, Brooklyn or Spotlight, which I know are great movies, so..)
Lead Actor: Leo
Lead Actress: Didn't see a single movie from this category, but I guess Cate Blanchett was always top. Jennifer Lawrence barely gets a prize now imo.
Support Actor: Imo Tom Hardy was ultrakill in Revenant.
Support Actress: In H8 J. J. Leigh was fine, but I wouldn't like to see her get an award over some other nominees.
Directing: I have no idea, even Mad Max should get some Oscars, but I guess Iňaritu did an amazing job, so..
Original Screenplay: Maybe even Ex Machina could make it.
Taken Screenplay: Martian/Brooklyn?
Animated film: Almost sure Inside Out will win. I'd bet 100 euros. (Anomalisa looks really good too, but weird as well...)
Foreign film: I guess Mustang will win.
Cinematography: Can someone pls tell me what is included in this? What is rated?
Editing, Production: Can't really say.
Costumes: Actually, I'd pick Powell's Cinderella over more popular choices. This girl knows her shit.
Makeup and Styling: Revenant vs. Mad Max, another epic fight. Revenant was really amazingly done, but damn, so was MM.
Original Score: Morricone please. This guy is amazing
Sound Mix: Maybe Star Wars, was pretty well done.
Sound Editing: I'm not even sure how is it able to pick one of these. Martian had an epic music.
Visual Effects: Mad Max, pls
Other categories I have no idea whatsoever.

What are yours?

Updated first post.

I woke up at 5 am just to see the main three categories - actor, actress and motion picture. Worth it. The best part: Ali G.
Some speeches were a bit cringy, weren't they? I know that when they speak there, the whole world is listening to them, but the whole antiracist and/or LGBTI agenda were kinda unnecessary imo... Talk like Leo had, about starting to think about what we do to this planet at least gives us something to think about, not just crappy bullshit.

Tom Hardy didn't get supporting actor :(
