Isn't B Dorian like:

Code: Select all

B C# D E F# G# A B
I think the song would be in B Lydian, if you those 3 chords are in it and stuff:

Code: Select all

B C# D# F F# G# A# B
But then it wouldn't be in minor, eh? I never really get this music theory more than 50%...

ye I only have some 50% too :\

But the Song is defenetly in b cause it start and ends with a b and it has 3 #, C#, F# and G# so it must be dorian!?
If it would be lydian it woul have a 4th # at the D line at the beginning imo.
Ye and its defenetly no minor so a max stupid title ^^

Well that's only the piano intro. The actual chamber string arrangement starts in B Minor, then goes to D Minor then A Minor.

The most flats I've ever played in a song was in System Of A Down's Lonely Day (A Flat Minor)

Download Lonely Day here: http://thepianocian.com/sheets/other/soadlonely.zip

It took a while to get the left hand going with the right hand. ;(

lol seven flats =P
I downloaded this sheet and played a bit. Think this will be the next song I'll put some time on. Usually I don't have the patience to learn a new song, I lose concetration after maybe half an hour, also if I concetrate to much I get tired right away. So I just improvice around and maybe make my own music.

But these 7 flats. :P I'm doing xiiits. I just transposed it half a note and voila.. no flats xD so every neutal sign is a sharp instead. easier to read for me=)

want me to record teh?

Sounds ubererer with all the flats, sach xiit0r xiph n00b (even though you'd pwn me in piano grades I think)

Hardest part is with the semiquaver two note chords, they are such a bitch to play at full speed, impsy even.

and: I finally got my first piano "gig" next weekend! $20 to play at a wedding, sweet!

only instrument i've ever played was the flute in my early years of school, kinda like it a bit.

I can play instruments though, and for the rest: eat me.

Wednesday I tried a little drumming, but there were no cymbals on the kit, so it was kinda lame.
Tonight will play some songs again, ought to be fun. niN, did you buy a banjo yet?

I bought a banjo approximately five months ago. I learned to play it, performed with it live and grew tired of it. Now it rests in a corner of my dad's house :).

Today my dad brought me out to go buy my first completely personal guitar! We looked and looked for hours until I finally found an amazing one. The sound is amazing and even when it's not plugged in it sounds like it could break through barriers. I love it, and I would take a bullet for it!

I only got it because my dad is moving away and I've never had my own guitar so he wanted to buy me one. You can't really get the magic in this guitar by looking at a picture, because the magic is in the sound, but I will try and find a pic for you.

I play the piano quite well. I play all the Mario songs (except Mario Bros. 2 Overworld, which is FUCKING COMPLETELY HARD TO PLAY, according to VGMusic's Piano Only version, but I still play single notes on the right hand only... the very basic pack), which means: Super Mario Bros. Overworld, Underworld, Underwater, Super Mario Bros. 3 Overworld II, Super Mario World Castle, Overworld II "Athletic" not very nicely, though, it's very hard to play. Super Mario 64 a bit of Castle's Theme, Water levels, Bob-Omb Battlefield and others like it, 3rd Bowser, ending of SM RPG but I don't remember half of it :(

I also play a little bit of Zelda but these are quite hard.

Besides, I'm talking about REAL piano versions, not crappy shit like the nobodies who play on a little electronic piano a little music with single notes on each hand, I mean very real versions with huge chords and everything.

Yep, I also play classical music, basically Chopin, Beethoven, but easy ones, since I don't practice often so I'm not good enough to play anything I want. I would play Liszt's Etudes if it was like that!

Actually, I play less and less as time goes by, but I think I'll go back on it this summer.

I wouldn't play Liszts etudes because I don't think they sound overly spectacular.

I've been forking through the prelude in C# Minor though, and I can, for the most part make sense of it.

There. had the gig today. Went pretty ok though the sound was pretty bad. Then we finished of with Breed - Nirvana and we went nuts. I accidentally broke a bass when I was going to end the song. I played guitar and when I jumped up to get the band to time the end I smashed my guitar into the bass on my way down and it broke :P It's all rock n roll I guess.

not so fun, we didn't get the sound worked out until the last song because this stupid heavy metal band was on before us and they fucked up the sound completely. But in the last song we kinda fixed it and thought, ah wth. Let's just have fun.

Fuck, wish I had a piano! Plan on buying a mediocre electric guitar finally anytime soon. Also guitar lessons coming up again. Theory is in the pocket due to study, but skills/repetory are lacking. Oh, we too have a gig coming up soon I guess (bass in the band), on the 7th and/or 10th. Have to start learning all the new songs I missed out on these past 2 months though.

Nice to see you guys coming along well too.

Hot damn, I'm gonna buy me a new guitar. And I'm very confused about which one. I was all going for a semi-hollow guitar already - es-335/375 or Ibanez artcore 103nt, when suddenly I felt going for more solid stuff. And now, I can't decide. I found some great guitar from Bo-El (dutch guitarbuilder; 500e 2nd-hand) and some michael kelly patriot limited for 400e.

Crap. I need a thin neck, stoptail or stringthrough, humbuckers and single coil if possible (splitting), good pickups (duh), it needs to sound not trebly and thin, but not muddy either. I'm gonna need mids I guess. I won't be playing in any dropped modes, but I will use some distortion if in the mood (I like random metal riffs now and then, it should work out as "good enough"). Main focus is being able to get a good clean sound for chords (not necessarily acoustic, but warm tones should be easy.

I once played a fender from mexico, a fairly good one which was above my budget. It felt perfect, but I didn't test thoroughly. For now I'm stuck with thoughts about Bo-El; http://www.huubboel.nl/ENG/models/gg/gg ... burst.html actually I made a bid for it; 500e. But this guy lives like next to german border, which is far ;\

AARGH, Guitar acquisition syndrome coming up here.. impsy to keep myself under control. :(

It matters if you like the tone and the grip. I'm talking about the difference between a toy guitar at wallmart and the starting level of proper guitars. I know I suck, but I got less sucky playing on a western guitar for a year now, and to get back to the electric guitar would benefit me, because of the following reasons:
  • you can actually play on stage.
  • I can take lessons again.
  • Tapping becomes easier, due to improved sustain.
  • Added notes on the neck.

The guitar is extremely important for a guitarist, not only for his looks but also for the feel. The difference between a good guitarist and a bad guitarist is that a good guitarist can make every guitar sound good. And the difference between a good guitar and a bad guitar is whether the guitarist enjoys playing it or not.

You'd think it sound stupid but there is such a major difference in all the guitars out there.

you don't need an electric guitar to play on stage:P
ever heard of the thing called a pick up?

but yeah.. all depends on what kind of music you want to play:P

I think you should go for whatever guitar that is good to play on and then focus on getting some good pedals and of course a good amplifier too. Distortion ,wah, delay pedal etc. whatever you like :P

In near future I think ill buy one of the Nord Electro 3 - 73 keys
or some other Nord series keyboard.. tried teh Electro 2 a few times.. simply fell in love with it! :D

Yeah, sure whatever, you guys, I catch your drift. But with these arguments I find profound reason for buying with my money an electric guitar. It's just a different kind of instrument. And on top of that, when I put my money for an electric guitar, I'd rather buy a 500 euro great guitar, with good tuners (makes a difference for the playing, no matter how good you are), stable bridge, good neck and wood (makes a difference for the playing and tone, no matter what), then to spend 200 euro for a guitar I know I'm gonna be sorry about next time I step on stage.

Be my guest and step on with your cardboard bass. :wink2:

3000.. damn, that's wellspent!

I get your point though. The guy's fucking insane if you ask me, the bass is bound to be stolen anyway (but on faroe it will be easy to relocate HEAH). But well, I just spent 500 europeans on this Bo-El guitar, and I don't regret it as of yet. Very smooth neck, humbucking/split coil on bridge and neck position, string through. As good as new, but half of new price. Only thing I need to replace is the strings, they're 3 years old (though they look 3 months). Grover tuners by the way.

Oh, and best of all: it plays incredible.

Yes I know I'm a born singer xD
I wrote this song Just now, as we speak, almost.
I've been uber bored all day so I thought I could have some fun and mix something random in a few minutes

First time I have used my voice in singing for what.. a year? I know I'm no singer but I like it very much :D You can hear on the voice it is crackling .. that's why I had to stop practicing =/ I noobified my voice.. maybe I should take lessons next year

Let's see if anyone can translate what I'm singing :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
And btw.. that's faroese (The language we speak here on the Faroe Islands)
