My desires for Elma 2

Post by Darius »

One improvement I would really like is a 'player versus computer mode' or even 'player versus player versus computer mode'!

I dont know... it would be rather difficult with the challenge since the skill level varies so much..

It would work if you had a 'CPU Difficulty' setting in options

I don't think it would be any fun. You can already compete against real ppls times. Seeing as comp is goin on the lev wouldn't be fun aswell, coz it's almost impossible to create an intelligent bot. U'd see only recs made by ppl (maybe slightly changed) i guess.

I think this would be like this - level maker makes a level AND drives for 5 difficulty settings a few times. AI for computer? Impossible since there are so many different levs.

Indeed.

And on-topic, no, I don't see the point in battling the computer at all. Elma is about competing with others.
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?

elma is about some apples, a flower and a bike. All forms of competing can be positive.

Battling the computer seems to advanced and not so useful, it would be better to allow a ghost, like atling with your best rec on that lev.

well this could almost be used as a cheat ;S

if a noob uses a "harder" opponent, he just have to do exactly what the NPC does :S

Who is NPC? And surely using a harder ghost would be beneficial for the kuski...at th emoment you can watch rec of better kuskis, so why not compete in the actual level?

Versing a ghost of your best time sounds like the best idea.

Nah, only your best time. I have some good recs for levels that I cant beat, so it should be just a rec thats about the same skill level as you...

why would it be limited to recs that the best time you got, why wouldnt you be able to select your replay to be the ghost?? thats totaly unlogical. i mean why limit it?? that would just be more work for that programmer.

Eyah, thats kinda what I meant. Generally youd choose your personal best time, but the WR or some other unbeatable (or far too ez) rec...

What type of bulleing should this be?
Is it first to flower, or tag version (pretty boaringz, cuz no good tag levs)?
if there would be 5 different difficultries inprogrammed, meaning that it is finished rides, then why not just beat a time?
Or if there was an AI would it ever die, or would it finish teh OMG impasibel pipes? How good AI is it possible to program? Would teh AI improve all the time (otherwise not funney) and if it improved then just make it loop and become mega good, or is it specific AI for every lev? so when you get like 10 000 levs your elma folder is 32TB cuz of AI for each lev? :)

Player vs Computer is not a very good idea, I think, but the replay ghost would be brilliant! An excellent way to beat your times and improve your styles.
