i think it's cheating..

if you have and use any application that alters the original concept and basic idea of any software without the programmers concent, then it's a cheat.

Not only is it a cheat, but i also think it's illeagal..

i think players that use it should be like banned or something, since not all players use it, it gives the ones that do use it an unfair advantage..

Sure, we can all download it and use it.. But then we would have ruined the whole damn thing.

what about counter strike, is that cheating in half life?

anyway if u wanna take the law example - abula is the law - and it doesn't make it right. but still, to say that u cheat wcup by using the patch that the founder of the competition allows, is not right. tho i guess px didn't say anything about it.

If he included it in the game then it wouldn't be a outside application that alters the game in favour of the user to do somethings better then those that does not use it.

No Counter-Strike is not cheat in hal life. for various reasons.
1. it is a modification that changes half life completely. the gameplay, the looks, everything basicly.
2. it is beeing sold by the makers of half-life..

so that analogy does not work.

I didn't speak specifically about wcup4, i'm sorry that i didn't make that out before.

i guess you're right, you can't tell if you use the patch or if you do it the "true way"

but i didn't make myself out to be some kind of "super anti-cheat anti-hero" of today.

i think you're right that it's not elasto mania anymore, it's "a la el ma" ok. guess they should have made the patch show in replays that it uses it, so conservatives can play old el mania. but who gives a fuck if balazs put it or not, and why in the hell?!

I can't read all your arguments, but anyway they are all wrong, if against the patch

The patch is a cheat, because it makes the game easier. But it's also a solution to a problem:
When the supervolt was found in across, csaba (or balazs or whoever) accepted it in WRs. It's a bug, so it should be illegal. And now, we have recently found that the alovolt allowed better times, which is even worse than the supervolt, since it depends on the frame rate and the keyboard. Now, not only it's a bug, but it's unfair.
Solution: a key for the alovolt. If the players accept it (they mostly do), it's an improvement, not a cheat anymore.

Following the same idea i would add the left super/alo-volt, because it would be more logical and more fun. But unfortunately, it wouldn't be "compatible" with the current game. Alovolt is possible with elma1.11a, left alovolt isn't

So i won't add it.

u should definitely deliberate the idea to make left supervolt. i dont think it has to do with elma at all (but in elma 2 there should be new moves). it would make tons of new styles; it's a huge difference compared to alovolt.
however, maybe you could make elma 2 instead? i could help by doing statistics stuff and menu stuff. i even drew elma bike in 3d, in a way which you can hang just like in elma, haha! it's a funny thinking puzzle to find out how. maybe not. well this shouldn't be in this topic, but abula doesn't want new ideas so: jeu.

then i dont see why everything should follow a logical pattern? like the above example, or: "it's a bug it shouldnt be allowed". bounce is a bug, and what's elma without bounce? damn much less fun. if you program a game, and find bugs that are cool in the game, do you then delete them? i dont see a point in this at all, other than it's the way of the system (=normal behaviour), which only is an argument to encourage ppl to follow the main stream

Me and DMD NEVER use patch1.11h`s alovolt and we always do it the old way, by pressing left and right together, coz` we rule!:)
But i think it`s not cheating at all, simply this is just a normal gamecode improvement, useful for many people, so all these talks about this as a cheating suck, left alovolt`d be fun, but it has to be the version with another standart level pack and not compatible with the old version i think - elma 2 shortly
It`d b cool if hib with abula could do it together and release it li ke an official stuff

as looking those "top20 rec packs" which are being released after each evet (damn shame they are deleted soon afterwards, would be cool to see event 1, 2, 3.. top20 recs now, when i didn't do it before), it's no need to question ppl don't use it.. actually level's like 401 kinda forced them to get it, as it was perfect level for supervolts, and even more suitable fot alovolts.

I think people can send you the packs. Moposite has limited web space once again and those packs are pretty big ones.
