What type of Map would you rather drive?

A map that has been designed so that it can drive fast times, or...

A map that has been made, and it is up to you to find methods to drive it fast (However hard or easy that may be).

Level-Making; what would you rather?

Post by Gecko »

Hello, and thank you for reading this Topic .

I was going to start making Maps, but I was wondering about something. What would you rather drive? (Fill in the 'Poll').

I'll move this to "polls" -section, since it's the only place at the moment you can have polls at.

...and of course I choose the second one because Sink and Steep sucks! :D

Dz; you'd rather a map that is so hard that it makes you look like a newbie, rather than a map like Headbanger, where it seems like it has been designed to drive it fast and impressively?

Thank you for your vote, and I apologize for the wrong Forum! I checked them all and this seemed the most suiting Forum .

I love levels where you have to find the style, and not drive a pre-determined route. A level I recently made has only 4 polys, and i've found about 6-7 totally different styles, from easy noob styles to max impressive dream styles.

What I like in a level is where the more skilled you are, the harder, but faster route you can take. So it's a challenge for everyone, but with a little hoyling, everyone can be proud of the time they've driven.

Make good multi-styled levels and i'll play them

(although i can survive when pipes are nat multi-styled)

Wow. Well that's just what I'll do. So are you saying that I should make a map, save it and then try and discover methods and routes that I can take, rather than making it for a certain route?

Thank you very much, and I'll start making maps with the information you two have given me. Expect to see some Levels coming up !

The latter; whenever I start up levels in belma, they have been made within 5 minutes and more usually within 2 or 1. And sometimes it comes out as dipshit, but other times it turns out to contain some sick/cool/funny/dream style, some style that I could've never thought of making up in the editor.

ye. Don't put too many apples, cause that can crush some amazing possibilities. Many polys and 2 apples could result in so much cooler and funnier styles than many polys and many apples. And never think "I cant do that style myself, so im not gonna let anyone do it and beat my time, so I'll put an apple over here..." That just sucks :D

Oh, and if you wanne, you can always put a bulldog in teh lev.

P.S. Actually, I'm relatively new to Elastomania. (Read my story on Moposite, my name is Gecko on there, like here 8)). Could you please post some type of styles and some examples? I know what the Pipe Style is :P.

Uni levels are good example of the kind of level where you need to find your style. I like it!
