Long time ago I realized, that changing direction in pies is better, but I cannot force myself to learn it. I use volts. It is worse.

Almost always the combination of the two. Most straight pipes are quite short, so I use them to prepare the bike attitude and rotation for whatever's coming next, be it curve, corner, or pipe exit, to do it fast. I do this mostly by turning, but sometimes use volts to help. And obv if there are any vortices that can be used for push then always volt :)

Mostly volts. Turning seems to require some kind of intuition. By the time I realize I need to turn, usually it's already a little too late for that to save the situation.

Pipes weren't so common then as now, so it wasn't so much of an issue. Some people still turned with screen move back then, though.

My pipe entrances are flawless so I don't need to use anything but gas.
