Should it be ok to abort battles for a pre-announced battle event?

If having a relatively short EOL event, let's say not more than 2-3 hours in total, and announcing it well ahead of time, let's say at least one week in advance, do you think aborting other battles during the event is ok?

When done with effort and passion it should always be ok. :x

It amazes me that people choose to be so stubborn over something like this..
These type of events are pretty much the best way to keep a small scene like this alive and well.

It's obvious that aborting might disappoint someone but there is no need to be a smartass about it.
Try to look at the big picture.

ofcourse yeah, zero pretty much said all we need to know.

even if it was advertised few hours before it should be ok. even if we were to have 30min "cup" everyday it should be ok (the authority would drop, but still). and danis cup WAS advertised. ramone is just chat-blind, skipping a lot of lines often. and not everybody hypes events as vividly as ramone (too bad btw, ramone is the king of hype. dont you ever stop hyping that way :D)

Yeah I personally wouldn't mind frequent cups like this (I'd like to use a different word for these 'casual' cups but can't think of any), simply because they would be a lot of fun. I mean it's possible for one designer to instantly put 2x60min levs if queue is empty, so I don't see how it would be that bad, it's not like you hog all battle time of the evening. The problematic part is current limitations of adding levels. Would be nice if there would be an option for mods to block all battles for a time period, so for example if someone else than organizer tried to start a battle during the event they would get a message saying 'Cant start battle, event ongoing for X more minutes'. Or simply the option to temporarily grant someone the ability to add more than one battle. An idea also is to add new battle modes for multi-lev battles. Could be either a cup format or TT battles.

I agree with dani. Ideally there should be a system in place that prevents anyone from starting new battles for said time period. As it stands, someone is bound to get upset, and it's nobody's fault.

Best if mods could change the queue order. That would feel more soft and cuddly than abortions.

Also imagine if mods could shorten/lengthen battletime of ongoing battles, could solve so many situations :o

Isn't the only possible way to have scheduled battles to abort those in the queue (if there are any)? The answer then should be a given.

Though as a technical solution it is desirable to upload and schedule battles beforehand. Could be a cool way to release new levels, organize a cup in advance and make vs battles.
