Are we nerds?...

I've always wondered, are we nerds because we play elma? All of my friends have always wondered why I play this game. They say I'm a computer nerd. I know alot of guys that are in to editing and video stuff, and they're really weird. But I don't think I'm as nerdy as they are. I know alot of kuskis that play elma...that are active in the elma scene that don't seem like nerds. I guess I'm just asking those certain guys if they think they are nerds. Do they get the same problems from their friends? I have a career in Information Technology and I don't act weird like some computer nerd. I just want to know who is a nerd and who has a good explaination as to why they play this game. Don't get me wrong, I love this game, I've never spent this much time on a game ever. I just want to hear your coments.

some years ago there was a time, when i played about 16 hours a day (when holidays)
so i guess, yes i am a bit nerdy
but not very nerdy in other stuff, never did cool programms, or hacked anything, so just freaky noliforing elma geek

you're from US&A CMc, you should know the terms better, used everyday and so on

imo it's all matter of opinion and how you define teh word, generally it doesn't bother me, i just do what i like. i think as long as you have friends and go out, have job or educate insted of palying games and do internets 24/7 you're ok :P

generally there are more dangerous addictions and it's easier to fight and change your habits that don't involve any chemical substantions. it can be hard tho when you canet verbally talk with ppl anymore and do not have any friends to begin with and so on, never really experienced teh but was close in like 2oo3 xD

i play elma, i study in computer science and i work as a programmer so, i am pretty often on a computer.
But i play basketball, baseball and do skateboard. I go to the gym on average twice a week. I have friends and go out on weekends (though i don't go to clubs very often)

am i a nerd? that's a good question.

i think being nerdy is more in your attitude. Some guys in my class, every time they meet (like on weekends or afterclass), they play videogames. That is more of what i would consider nerdy.

I'm a max nerd, and i believe that like half of elma players are nerdy too. I myself like to dig things to the extreme level, nowadays i almost don't play elma, but i do the same "10-hours-a-day-workout-to-reach-my-goals-not-caring-about-anything-else-and-never-going-out" with other things <- that's how i understand nerdiness btw.

That's the point!

The fact that you have a little toy, which gives you fun every now and then doesn't make you nerdy. You could as well just lie on a bed doing nothing, or watch TV etc. You like computers and it is natural that your timewaster is a computer game, especially the one like elma.

yes im a nerd, tho I wouldnt say im a nerd-nerd... just spent a friday evening hoyling and I "followed" the solar eclipse earlier today ;p cant really explain why i wouldnt call myself a nerd-nerd, and cant define nerd-nerd either, but i am not one :p

Very nice formulated, short and easy understandable.

I think playin elma, is like training for any activity or sport, but other people don't accept it that way. I don't care if it's nerdy, nerd is almost the same thing as a hoyler.
I don't like people sayin other games are way better when they don't even know what they're talking about. Elma times can always be better so the game lasts forever, but when u play other games they'll get boring when you've finished them.
One of my friends once said: There's no point in playin elma.
I asked what he playd, and it was some strategy game offline, like that's way better and lot more meaningful. I hate such stupid criticism.

I would call myself a nerd.
