Maybe that rating could be nice idea. :) For levelmakers much easier to collect best of own levels etc. and check what ideas are bad. :)

In the Battle section, if we click on 2008, we should have all battles in 2008 or if we click on august, all battles for this month appear. because each day battles could be long to search specific level that you dont know when it was battled

Very nice site indeed, kopaka. I like the simplicity, but not necessarily the circles up there. They are ok though.

Some improvement ideas/bugs:

Home:
In the battle list, the battle type could be seen directly in the list. Now it's only a tooltip (i don't like them). Btw, what are those Last Counts | Flag Tag | Apple | Speed battles? :) :O If they are even near to what they sound like, it will be amazing addition to belma once again. But 'bugs accepted' sounds weird...
In the chat log players could be in <angle brackets> instead of (round brackets), but it's only my opinion :)
In register, maybe 'retype password'? Should there be some kind of e-mail confirmation (for example)?

Battles:
Little bit confusing. Like mawane said, it should be possible to get all the battles from february 2008, for example. Instead of that kind of multiple buttons system, could it be better to have some kind of search? For example I could search battles from given date to another given date, battles with given crippled options, battles with given type, battles from given designer, battles with given name pattern. With all of these settings selected from some kind of combo boxes, I could then press 'search' and it would return me the battles I searched. It should be possible to get all the returned levs and recs in a zip file too.

Today's and this week's/month's stats could be somewhere else, maybe in the stats page.

Ranking:
Ok, this is not implemented yet and we have talked this a lot in some other thread. The most important things are that people are not punished from playing, and you should get more points when beating a good kuski than when beating some noob.

Stats:
Internal stats seem to be quite good. Though some ppl would like to see more detailed stats like averages and total times. I found out that the page was pretty slow to update when I pressed those 'Best times' and 'Overall best times' links. I wonder if it's getting even slower when the database grows bigger? Btw, 'Overall best times' doesn't sound so good. Could it be 'All times'?

Cup, or should it be Cups? Can there be multiple cups going at the same time or just one? That 'Top Designers' is pretty funny there. Is that date there the deadline?

Level packs - I'm really looking forward to this. I guess there will be pretty much same kind of stats as in internals?

1 hour and 24 hour TT's look ok. After all they are not so important for me anyway.

Players:
This looks good. I only wonder why there is 'Top designers' there but not 'Top players'. I guess they should be somehow in the same place?

Help:
I think this page should also contain all the needed files needed for playing belma (except the elma.res maybe).

Some other things:
- Will players skirts (bmps) be available on this site?
- 'Top designers shows all battles, should show only fresh levels, maybe move to battles section' - why so? I think it should show all the battles. Or at least you should be able to choose.
- Can I play crippled in some other way than starting a battle? If not, then for example those crippled stats on internals will be quite stupid because no-one likes if starting internal battles.
- And yes, team and national statistics would be nice.
- What improvements are there inside belma? Ok, maybe not in the scope of this thread but would be nice to know :)
- Is it possible to start a level as a battle and after that make it part of a level pack?
- Battle/level ranking and commenting is a good idea, though not the most important thing.
- Site layout (which isn't bad) is pretty important after all because some ppl might start playing belma only if the page looks good.
- There are some useless data now, for example number of volts pressed. Have you thought that the database might get too big if all these kind of information is stored? I hope at least that the unfinished times are not saved into the database.
- Is it possible to change team? What happens when player changes team? What happens to his/her old records, will they move to the new team's times or not? Are cup teams possible anymore?

I hope that you will release this soon :)

i'll comment this one. the only thing you need to do is to play like it's crippled. don't press break in the lev you're playing and it'll automatically show on the nobreak cripples, same for every other type.

that would be kinky...:)

ontopic: i am a big fan of stats, so seeing all years/months/days' battles looks great. besides that, the kind of 'top' that was previously discussed where if you win against good players... etc. is also smth nice.

my only worry would be to have a server to store such a big database with all the recs&levs and for that i'm willing to help too, somehow...

Mostly up to when mila finishes it, not much left though.
zebra wrote:Btw, what are those Last Counts | Flag Tag | Apple | Speed battles? :) :O
Last counts: Everytime you restart level your time is reset, so the last time you make counts. Flag Tag is flag tag for any number of players. Apple counts how many of the apples you've gotten combined in all runs. Speed is max speed accomplished.
zebra wrote:could it be better to have some kind of search?
good idea, added to list, zip possible I think
zebra wrote:Cup, or should it be Cups? Can there be multiple cups going at the same time or just one? That 'Top Designers' is pretty funny there. Is that date there the deadline?
Only one cup at a time, date deadline yes
zebra wrote:This looks good. I only wonder why there is 'Top designers' there but not 'Top players'. I guess they should be somehow in the same place?
What you mean top players? Most battles played, best ranking?
zebra wrote:Will players skirts (bmps) be available on this site?
Already are on player page, will try to make some zip dl aswell
zebra wrote:Is it possible to start a level as a battle and after that make it part of a level pack?
yes
zebra wrote:Is it possible to change team? What happens when player changes team? What happens to his/her old records, will they move to the new team's times or not? Are cup teams possible anymore?
records will move as it is now, cup teams not really possible, but if really needed it could be changed

That all sound so awesome =)
Can you say something to last counts and Speed plz. The more Battlestyles the better but I cant imagin in which kind of lev that can be nice..
In last counts I must see if I think I can do a better run? And if I think I cant I go to another lev and wait? Can be a little boring or not? And its a normal lev I put that mode for?
And in 'speed' I just need the maxest speed? So its a downhill lev or how does a good 'speed' lev looks like?
Thx, cant wait for it =)

Hmm, I'm not sure... I just thought there could be 'Top players' too because it was 'Players' page. But anyway, I guess you can decide this yourself. Generally, the site is good.

I don't want lvl rating system. Last time we tried it. It only ended up in shit talk, hatred and annoyance. Someone started a battle. Was okiz to hoyl and afterwards "you can now vote: /vote 1-5 to vote. And everyone was like.. Crap lvl.. 1 1111.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1. 2.. maybe some single person.. Oh great lvl 5.. and average ended up being like 1.4 out 5 which would be with those scores, a bad lvl. I think almost all of the lvl makers felt bad after getting crap votes.. "Why is my lvl so bad?" "Why do you always vote bad on my lvls, xiphy!!???" ... etc :P YES I voted dozens of 1 or 2 or wtf on bad hoyla/speedies boring lvls.

Don't know if anyone remember this. We had it on #battle for not so long, since it wasn't so popular.

Just had to say something about it. Of course we could give it a try. and ez remove it again. But heard something about this is the last thing mila does. So MILA: be sure to give Kopaka or who ever get's to run the server, a possibility to disable noob functions that end up being nab functions:::::::::::::::::D

did that make any sense at all? i wonder. just noticed this is for the website :P anyways. give it a thought

Another thing is that sometimes people just make a quickie lev in 2 minutes, if there's a rating system then some people might stop making those to avoid getting bad rating for nothing. Maybe it could be possible for the levmaker to choose whether he wants the lev to be rated or not. Then the rating could be for example "Average rating 3.79, rated levels 37/53"

or we could just fak rating the levels/designers. if someone makes several nice levels, he will be acknowledged, and people will know this person makes nice levels - one does not need a site to tell him that he has a rating of 4.238/5

I think the rating system could be good, but a single vote shouldn't matter too much. What about a simple plus/minus evaluation? You decide whether you liked the lev or not. And the designer doesn't need to know who has voted plus and who minus.

also, we could make it that only certain people can vote on levs maybe... like a 'respected players' vote, and here on lauta hev some topic where we all decide on who can rate and who can't.

Just did a quick look at the current front page of http://elmaonline.moposite.com/ and these things occurred to me:

What is that big kopaka picture in the middle of the page? I hope it's not the same as the skirt will be inside belma, because at least I would like to put something else there than the zebra stripes.

I think chat log should be in the newest-line-last order like it is normally in belma and in every chat. It's hard to read such inverted chat as it is now on the site.

Also pages which are empty could show something like 'not logged in' text. Otherwise noobs don't understand why they are not seeing anything. It's possible though that they wouldn't understand it anyway... :)

The big shirt shows the latest winner. And personally, I like the fact that it is the on-line shirt :)

First my idea was that ppl could upload pics of themselves that would be shown there but someone pointed out that probably no one would do that, so I changed it to show the ingame shirt. Better ideas are welcome ofcourse.

Most of those empty pages will be viewable even if not logged in, but is not now because I had to do some security stuff first, actually making them viewable again just now. But will make some not logged in text ofcourse if there will be any such page (:
