Going to the roof directly looks faster even.
And even if you would save some time by going to the right directly, you ez lost more time because of the bounce.

if you could somehow get down to that apple below very quickly, and bounce/brutal back to the top row of hangs,
then you can drive to the top left apple, fall down, and proceed with the long jump style.
looks slower, but wouldn't hurt to have a 2nd opinion from a pro.

i tried that serpents style some years ago(except i hang different on last apple), but it's so hard it's completely pointless. And by hard i mean fucking hard. never done start and never done end even in a train lev. they're both completely possible but harder than hi flyer brutal, so maybe one of a thousand million rides

here's a rec on that train lev http://up.k10x.net/nvnwuhcyzwgfc/tr15dame.rec

What about this style on Hi Flyer?
Image

Old style +
Instead of the gradually braking, hang back wheel and frontflip behind the killer.
It could be quite fast, if it would be well done...

first you take a replay from the real internal level.. anything it can be 1 second long.. and then you take some random training lvl replay.. works fine

if you do it the other way around and you don't have the real training lvl it won't work

C'mon, i really hoped you'd finally hoyl this level down to 1:23,high at least. All it takes is doing this new trick (which is much easier than previous one), even without your alobounce; then performing darm's hang, which is easier again and 0.5 faster. Not even done perfectly. And the only hard spot is a good landing and ending :)
See, easy level =)

Here it is, done in a standard way (i.e. i've just overheld a brake at 10:xx and got a bad acceleration later because of that):

I'm sure you knew it. Maybe it was discarded because of too high difficulty/gain-ratio though :)

Nothing new here, it's few years old. But all the wr holders consistently avoided using it for some reason. And maybe darm's recs aren't that spread as i thought, heh (well, nothing to watch anyway now).
I know some little tricks, but i'll keep them for myself (and few others), as there are no major shortcuts anyway. Well, i can suggest you to try Johann's way of taking last apple in Quick Round:
http://mopolauta.moposite.com/viewtopic ... 90#p164490
It appeared to be quite neat in my testings (haha, that's all i do nowadays, since i don't have a time for elma and max bored of simple hoyling)

Yeah it's indeed potential and faster than the normal easy style but there is one thing that is on the other hand insignificant but on the other hand very significant for the style that I'd like to point out: the style-finding and especially testing process was made also (?) by adi, who used much time to test both ways in same trainlevel. Therefore imo it's wrong to call it just Johann's style. (in elma many many styles are nowdays called someone other's than the original inventor's style though and defining or finding out the inventor of the style can be really hard in some cases, and also in this case this style may have been thinked much before these guys, but anyway "adi's style" or at least "adi's and Johann's style" is much more correct than just "Johann's style" at least in my ears).

if it's a problem to define the styles by who pointed them out and sach.. then why not just call it low turn or what ever :P but anyways.. who gives a fuck ^^

Please continue with developing styles.. it keeps my Elma heart beating. =)

hah, thats the point about new wave, it could be done very many times faster, but noone cares to do it, because its too hard to do in one run and after all, too annoying :( you said memphis, that you would share ur rec for edq, but look: edq is released with your WR-rec, and one week later there is a wr 1:23 or at least 1:24... what a shame :| john, cmon, youve already showed that you have infinite patience... also for this goddamn creation of devil. why dont you just try again this year?

actually there should be either:

1) no EDQ.
2) EDQ's once per week, so that the FASTEST rec for every level is always shown.

Maybe we should assign a guy to this for us, like everyone pays 500 euros a year for the salary, so this guy can deliver us every week a brand new EDQ. Perhaps in his spare time he could höyl more WRs and record music in a studio for the soundtrack, which should be different every time.

I did that trick twice when going for wr and both times like yours was slower then normal run. It's too bad because it looks cooler and is very hard to do.

If I merge 16B12451 with 16J12532 it looks like the new style before first apple is slower!? And the bounce style to the top a bit earlier also isn't faster? The only faster part is the one at the middle after 2nd apple imo.
So what is good at the new styles? Maybe do they bring new motivation for hoyling? I'm asking cause I wanted to hoyl the new styles but now I don't think it will bring me a better time...

for me new styles are only motivation.. but if you are like zweq and have played all of the levels for 50 years and got maxed out times on all of them then I can see if it's good with a 0,20 better time :P

New bounce style at start isn't faster the way zweq and the 2 times I did it but if you could get a clean shoot to the hole then it would be faster. Potential.

As for the 2nd style before the first apple it's about the same speed as before with john's run but 10 times easier to pull off. That is where I died 90% of the time holyaing for wr.

The third style no if's and's and buts about it, it's faster. (springing off the ledge)

I think DaFred ment bouncing to the roof at the wavetunnel at the right wave like Bjorn did.

Ya Bjorn's bounce is faster at the start of the wave. Merge my replay with it and he gains on me. Not crazy amounts faster but faster.

Because I suck at the hang part now in new wave. Plus all the big wigs in the elma scene are giving this level a lot of attention. There'd be no way to beat them out without a diff style and not worth holyaing level for total time for 1 second max off.

1. Apple style is mostly useful because of its ease, but it's also faster when properly done. So it's a win-win situation against previous way of doing this part. There is another point to use it though - you land differently (more "to the left", and also when you start moving afterwards, the wheel raises less), which allows for a faster turn at this left polygon by using alo-alo-volt combination. It doesn't work that often, but if you press the first alo earlier, the second one makes bike rotating really fast. I can record something, but don't have a time at the moment, and i wanna go sleep now :)
2. The little bounce is a tiny bit faster and looks cool!! =) Well, you can use Zweq's wheelpressing instead, cuz it's more fast. But also annoying ofc :S
