Yes, I noticed on relistening you tuned the string down mid through. Buckethead's ofcourse a sick dude. But it's good to set your aims high, it works for me.

Yeah, I agree. But I don't really want to become that good at slaping. I only do it for the fun. I like to play comp guitar. I don't do solos that much. Don't know why, I've never really seen any fun in it. I guess I get it from my dad.

meanwhile: I saw the Ravel Concerto and Beethoven Eroica symphony (went for an hour and five mins alone)

In the Adagio Assai movement of the concerto someone's phone went off with a really cheesy ringtone, and the pianist tried looking for him and scowled whilst playing, was funey. But seriously, what asshollllllllllle.

I have a chronic cough atm but I couldn't cough at all through teh. Such max.

I only listened to the first one and then stopped for the simple reason that it's not my kind of music to judge

Though I got some "60-s comedy cartoon show" vibes from that one which is pretty cool! It sounded like good movie music for that type of genre.

it has also some lyrics but i removed it from this 'version' because I can't sing and you would not understand that completely retarded lyrics anyway (lyrics is in 3rd and 4th part, 7th and 8th and in very long chorus)
it was max pain to record 2nd guitar, it's fucking impsy to do it synchornized when it records with 1ms lag

not saying I would do better, I suck at fingerpicking (I'm guessing you are doing that here). solo was a bit loud compared to rhythm guitar.

Tonight I tried fingerpicking, like 4 fingers on a string, in correct position. I always used to do fingerpicking as a something extra with pick, and with my hand in a certain angle to the guitar, but that sucks for the clean tone - when you need it. I had an awful day of some stints with my guitar today, as I had been away for a week without the woodblock n' strings. But I managed to get my fingertips back to numbskulls by the end of the evening. Always fun, you lose a lot of skin in the process. And I finally got myself a serious lot into tremolo picking (properly, from the wrist). So now I'm playing guitar like those mindless shredders.

i tried to record it with both finger picking and normal pick (solo only with a pick), this was recorded with a pick i think
it didn't make a big difference

wow akb, I wonder how I missed that? ;s sorry man. and yeah milagros, I meant youtube shite by other guitarists. It's amazing how you can run into 'lessons' by some guys. Wasn't very specific here, oaps.

OK, just listened to your piece, akb, and I was surprised. Fairly good scoring there, I liked the beginning very much. 1:58 was a good moment. End was a bit too sketchy yet, like at part 3:40 somewhere, the sudden stop of tutti felt kind of awkward and unfit. The chromatics were an interesting feat after that, but you should elaborate on that, 4:05 is too soon, some development would be nice. Then after that it becomes dreadful, bit clichÃ©. The flickering sound, is that sixteenths played by a violon or someteh? I wonder how it sounds on a real one.

Still, very good though!

Thanks! It's only a music assignment, not a culminative project or anything so I'm getting another A+ for it, but of course I may revisit it later and add more development.

However I am getting the school chamber strings (top string ensemble that I am a part of) to perform it, possibly at the Gala concert (our school's most successful usually selling out 3 concerts in less than an hour) but because I left it so late to compose it, maybe not.

The flickering is tremolo sixteenths on the violins and cellos. In real performance it would probably be marginally slower, and the flickering wouldn't sound like an influxuation of dynamics.

Also, about them being cliche- please link to other songs with similar qualities, I am interested. I know of one called storm, perhaps my main influence for that.

To tell you the truth I have never seen or heard apocalypta, and I'm not certain of the actual notes of "Storm" but I did sight read it once (quite a feat considering the leaps) and somehow liked the tremolo effect. However I am certain I have a unique progression from it and of course I don't know of any similarities to apocalypta.

I must check it out (I assume the soundtrack is on youtube).

would like to hear a professional orchestra play this AKB, again. i love the start, perfect.

the abrupt change from the start to the more 'woody' sound (you should be able to notice it) is a little off, maybe too loud or something. melody isn't as elaborate as i thought the second time around, seems to fit nicely. i think perhaps a quiet violin (single) playing a melody over the top in one of the slower sections would add a nice charm

very nice sax-playing. Guitarist is not so good heah. But it seems they just walked in, hung their coats and went playing some old tunes they had in stock, so actually pretty damn good.

actually that guitar player is very talented, he just looks dull on stage heh. he's more the backing up guitarist than 80'ies-solo-lead-guitarist also he normally plays classic music

they just had a random jam on stage, not sure if they practiced the song before or not. you can see how they communicate and tell when to change/get in/ stop etc
