yeah true. but anyone who seriously believes in such cliches are just retarded anyway.

lets not forget that the movie is set before WWII in Northern Australia, a place nothing like california.

have watch a fair few movies since my last post, not sure if i'll be able to remember all:

Gran Torino - 8/10
watched tonight. really nice movie. sad and fnny at the same time.

Death Note - 6.5/10
Japanese movie. Wasn't too bad.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? - 6/10
Was alright. The music was great i thought. Not much of a storyline though.

After The Wedding (Efter brylluppet) - 7/10
Danish movie. nice story.

17 Again - 4/10
Wasn't expecting anything good of course - only thing to watch when me and gf went to Drive-Ins.

The Dark Knight - 7/10
Cant believe it too me so long to see. I was expecting more. Although Heath was great, at one point of the movie i asked myself, "When is this going to end?" and didn't end for another 30mins. i like christian bale, but cant stand batman's voice.

The Shining - 7.5/10
"Heeeerrrreeee's Johnnnnyyy!"

Once Were Warriors - 7/10
Nice classic movie with some great lines/scenes.

Seen this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0211915/ two times

once in my art class and once at home. Guess it's worth seeing but not really my cup of tea.

Ghost Ship - 6/10
Plenty of typical horror tricks, also very predictable. But after all, there were few a little confusing reversals in the action and no trashy happy end (almost everyone died). In a horror of that type it gives quite an interesting result.

haha, Ghost Ship really has one of the best intro ever!

Dawn of the dead (2004) - 9/10
I have not seen the original Romero version but i know most fans of the dead trilogy hate this one. I personnaly thought it was great. Good amount of gore, good storyline for a zombie movie, some excellent scenes (the preacher speech on tv, celebrity look-alike scene). I thought it was a great horror film, watched it several times and still appreciate it. I would suggest it to any fan of fast moving zombies!

Ong-Bak : 8/10
My brother bought the movie yesterday and we watched it in the evening. Had already seen the movie once on the big screen and once on the small screen and let me tell you that the stunts and combat sequences in this movie are amazing! (No CGI whatsoever, just plain awesome real combat). The only thumbs down i can give are the story and the dubbing (is that the right word? Voices over original voices). You can only choose between thai and english and the english version is quite horrible/laughable for most voices. I had seen it on the big screen in french and the dubbing was way better.

If you are a fan of Jackie Chan movies, Bruce Lee movies and aren't bothered with the asian culture, it's a must see!

Reservoir Dogs : 9/10
First off, i would like to say that i really liked this movie. Some quite awesome dialogues (madonna, tipping, etc.), great acting, nice ending. Exactly what you would expect from some early Tarantino work. I think i had never heard so much swearing in a movie, there must be a "fuck" every 7 words all along the movie, from beginning to end and they don't even feel forced in. The swearing blends perfectly in the story-telling.Overall, it's a classic, go buy it.

Shoot 'Em Up - 6/10
Easy to digest actionmovie with some hilarious dialogue and over the top action. Really nice to see with a couple of friends if you're willing to accept the lolness in it (people getting killed with carrots etc). Rating could have been even higher considering the great entertainment it offers but I fell for the peer pressure and gave it only a 6.

FINALLY!
Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain - 9/10
Just wonderful movie. Never seen anything quite like it. Audrey Tautou is perfect for the role. My gut feeling says it's not a 10 though. Will recommend this further. Some spontaneous thoughts. :)

I also rent Pan's Labyrinth today and will probably see it on Wednesday.

El laberinto del fauno / Pan's Labyrinth - 4/10
I'm such disappointed :( was expecting an epic fantasymovie and got some weak warmovie with weak fantasy-tendencies every 20th minute. FUKK!

I have to rewatch another time to see if I can figure out why so many people have rated this 10/10.

I realise people have different taste, but usually I can see in a movie what's so special about it. Normally I can understand other people's opinions, but here I just can't ;(

Still I have to rewatch it another time and NOT expect an epic fantasymovie ;(

Sphere : 8/10
I actually enjoyed this movie very much. Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Stone and Samuel L. Jackson really made the movie great, and even without them, the movie would still be great. The story is interesting, the dialogues are clever, the acting is good. For those who don't know the movie at all, the movie revolves around a group of people sent 1000 feet below the ocean to explore an unknown vessel on which they find a perfect metallic sphere. The group tries to uncover the truth behind the sphere and its various manifestations.

The Passion of the Christ - 7/10

Really hard to decide actually. Could be 5, could be 8.
Really violent and bloody movie, like torture and suffering for the whole movie. Ye ye that's the point of it but still.
Anyway everything looks cool and the non-english languages are definately a plus.

Yep. South Park has really stepped it up when it comes to criticism and satire. It's like they and Simpsons traded places, seeing as nowdays Simpsons is merely black humor, and no real stories.

Oki scifi adventure, nothing new tho. Maybe a bit predictable and some deus ex machina here and there. "Oh gosh I'm falling down from the top of a skyscraper, what will save me now? Wow some random nets appeared here so I can land smoothly!"

Feast: 8.5 / 10
Holy shit this movie was awesome! B-movie horror at its finest! Not only is the movie 100% self-aware of its ridiculous gore and violence, it does it even better than any B-movie. For example, during the beginning of the movie, we are introduced to every character that is stuck in a bar, which will soon be attacked by unknown creatures, with a written on-screen description of the character stating his name, hobby and life expectancy in the movie! That, to me, was brilliant! As much fun as i thought this movie was, it clearly is not indicated to everyone. The reason not being as much as violence as the grossness of some scenes (but they never push it too far).

Anyway, if you are a fan of B-movies, gore and films like From dusk till dawn, you should be pleased with this movie!

I like that movie very much. Not a fancy movie, good action with a nice little human feel. Kurt Russell delivers a lovely performance showing the vulnerable side of his rock-solid soldier character. The antagonist is just so badass and awesome, love him.

Ive heard from people who read the book(s) that the thing they missed the most was Langdon's monologues or smth. But being fans of the books I don't think you will be too disappointed with the movie, and come on it's Tom Hanks! besterest there is :p

that's the problem maybe, they're trying to sell tickets so they make the movie cater to stereotypes rather than an actual word for word copy of the movie.

just look at fucking romeo and juliet by Baz Luhrmann or w/e... i nearly commited suicide after watching that.

Oki movie, though I think the first one was even better.
A few survivors against a big bunch of zombies, and the playground is the city of London. Nice concept.
