Uploader vs Challenger

Post by John »

##TEST## Levelpack for WEEK 24 - Deadline sunday XXX 23.00 GMT+1 ##TEST##

I have an idea for a new type of contest.

Code: Select all

The idea is quite simple:

1. You send me ONE level in a PM (one level a week max), it doesn't have to be yours but you
must have the best time. The more you've hoyled it the better (for you).

2. Each week I will update my first post in this thread and release the levelpack, with the
submitted levels, for the upcoming week.

3. Your task is to pick any level(s) you feel like and try to beat the uploader's time(s) within the
week. Anyone can participate in this step, even if they haven't submitted a level (they're just
missing out on possible UPLOADER-points anyway)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The level must be between 0.10.00 and 4.59.99 minutes long. The length of a level is determined
by the uploader's time. If the uploader has a time above 10 seconds but a challenger manage to
get below 10 seconds the challenger's time is still valid of course.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Points will be updated at the end of each week and are given as follows:

Points to the UPLOADER are only given if his time remains unbeaten.
5 points for 0.10.00 - 0.59.99 long levels
4 points for 1.00.00 - 1.59.99 long levels
3 points for 2.00.00 - 2.59.99 long levels
2 points for 3.00.00 - 3.59.99 long levels
1 point for 4.00.00 - 4.59.99 long levels

Points to a CHALLENGER are given if he's the first to beat the uploader's time.
1 point for 0.10.00 - 0.59.99 long levels
2 points for 1.00.00 - 1.59.99 long levels
3 points for 2.00.00 - 2.59.99 long levels
4 points for 3.00.00 - 3.59.99 long levels
5 points for 4.00.00 - 4.59.99 long levels

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To submit a level simply send it in a PM to me.

To submit a new record and get your point(s) to the next update send a PM with the level to me.
No recs are required I think, just make sure I see both your and the uploader's time in the top10.
I just want to make sure the level hasn't been modified.

Code: Select all

Points:
Nick As UPLOADER As CHALLENGER
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
What do you people think?
Are you interested in such a battle on weekly basis?
Do you have any suggestions for what could be improved or changed?

Discuss...

When is the weekly deadline?
What about pipe levels (author not finished the level)?
What about levels where only pressing gas will give you the best possible time?

1. Hm, I was thinking about 23.00 GMT +1 every sunday or such.
2. The levels you submit must have best times, and those best times must be driven by the uploader (that is you). The level doesn't have to be yours. Pipes are fine, as long as the uploader has a finish on them.
3. I will of course have a look at the levels before I put them in the levelpack, some common sense and such levels won't make it into the levelpack.

I edited my first post to show you how a typical week would look and how the scoreboard would be. No levelpack up yet though.

What about "fake ground"? I assume it will be considered a cheat?

sounds fun... but shouldnt the levs be made by uploader himself? now ppl can send in whatever external WRs they have thus duplicating WR table... not cool

Yeah Ali, that's the biggest problem I guess. Not that funny as an Uploader to upload a level where you only have semi-good time. But at the same time it's not fun for a Challenger if he has to make external WRs to get points.

How do we solve this?

Banning various levpacks?

Yes, ban all the known levpacks. Battlelevs would be kinda ideal for this.

Ok, since the latest mopolauta-upgrade fukked up and deleted a couple of posts here, let me try again...

Seems like a few guys want this thing to start. If everyone interested in possible Uploader-points could send their max hoyled levels to me in a PM I could start this competition sunday 14th of June.

Remember, no levels from...
* Skintatious
* Kopasite
* Moposite
* ... or any similar site

If any such level is submitted it will most likely be noticed and thereafter excluded from the active levelpack.

Crap, I completely forgot about this. Was all into making JoPi-levels and such.

When should I start? I will be away during the whole next weekend so maybe start somewhere in mid week? Also I've only received 2 levels so far ;s

I have a one but it's only 6 seconds long. Sadly it's the only good time I have.

Well, I guess I could start soon. How about having x days to hoyl where x is number of levels in the zip? I've got 3 levels now so playing time would be 3 days. Sounds good? No matter how many levels I could still try to start the events on a regular basis, always sundays for example.

I'd say regular releases, eg sundays is good.
